What should I do if the engine won't start?

First, ensure the key switch is ON. Check engine oil level and gas level. If problem persists, unplug the key switch; if engine starts, replace the key switch. Refer to your Kohler engine manual for further troubleshooting.

How do I adjust the belt tension?

Loosen the 4 engine mounting bolts. Use adjustment bolts to move the engine, changing tension on belts. Proper tension is set when belt movement is approximately 0.25 inches above and below its normal position. Retighten bolts after adjustment.

What causes excessive vibration during operation?

Check cutters for missing or loose teeth. Also inspect the cutter wheel pillar bearing mounting bolts. Tighten or replace as needed.

How do I start the stump grinder?

Tip the stump grinder with cutters off the ground. Ensure key is ON, choke in correct position (left for ON), throttle at fast (rabbit). Pull starter firmly. Engine must be at highest speed when cutting.

What safety precautions should I take?

Wear safety glasses, hearing protection, and gloves. Clear area of people and property. Do not wear loose clothing. Only chip wood. Children should not operate. Stay alert of surroundings.

How do I use the wheel brake for towing?

For transport in trailer or pickup, insert pin through wheel hub AND axle to brake both wheels (dual brake). For free rolling during grinding, pin only the axle to allow wheel to spin freely.

DK2 Power outdoor equipment has a 1-year parts only warranty (no labor). Kohler engines have separate warranty: CH series 3yr parts/labor, SH series 2yr parts/labor. Defective parts replaced free. Contact DK2 for RGA if needed.

What maintenance is required?

Regularly check belt tension and tighten engine mounting bolts. Check cutters for wear or damage. Follow Kohler engine manual for engine maintenance. Use DK2 OEM replacement belts.

How do I install the cutting teeth?

Install teeth in RCL (Right Center Left) pattern: Right, Center, Left, Right, Center, Left, Right, Center, Left. The unit has 9 teeth with a 3.5-inch cutting path.

What type of fuel and oil should I use?

Use mid grade or higher gasoline. For oil, use 10W30 and fill to mark. The engine has low oil shutoff protection; it will not start if oil is low. There are two yellow oil fill caps; use either one.

The Stump Grinder is shipped in a crate. Leave the sides folded down and use as your work space.

STEP 2:

1. Slide wheels onto axle and install Lynch Pins.
2. To BRAKE one pivot wheel while stump grinding PIN through Wheel hub and axle to brake wheel from turning.
3. Pin ONLY the axle to allow the wheel to spin freely.
4. During transport in trailer or pickup PIN BOTH WHEELS for dual wheel brakes.
5. Install axle onto frame with 2 bolts and hardware provided.

STEP 3:

1. Mount the handle tower with the bolts provided.

2. Connect the 2 wire connectors.

STEP 4

1. INSTALL THE THROTTLE ASSY WITH 2 BOLTS PROVIDED.
2. PLACE BOLTS FROM OUTSIDE AND PLACE NUTS ON INSIDE OF HANDLE TOWER.

STEP 5

1. INSTALL THE BOW HANDLE WITH THE LONG BOLT.
2. ASSEMBLY THE ADJUSTMENT HANDLE
3. CONNECT THE WIRING CONNECTORS.

WHAT IS COVERED

DK2 Inc. warrants to the original purchaser of any DK2 product that it will be free and clear of manufacturing defects in workmanship and materials under normal use and service for a period of one (1) year from the date of the original purchase.

If within one (1) year from the original date of purchase this product fails due to defect in material or workmanship, Detail K2 will repair, replace, or supply any defective part at our option for DK2 trailer products. DK2 POWER outdoor power equipment is 1-year parts only warranty no labor.

Upon expiry of one (1) year, Detail K2 will have no further liability related to the product. Detail K2 does not authorize any party, including its authorized distributors or dealers, to offer any other warranty on behalf of Detail K2 Inc.

THIS WARRANTY DOES NOT COVER OR APPLY TO:

Damage to the product due to misuse, mishandling and abuse

(b) Improper installation, maintenance and storage

(c) Expendable parts such as nuts and bolts, pins and springs, wiring and switch components, hydraulic hoses and fittings, cutting teeth, cutting chains, cutting blades, throttles, belts and tires.

(e) Consequential damage & incidental damages such as damage to persons or property

PROCEDURE FOR OBTAINING AN RETURN AUTHORIZATION

Within the one (1) year warranty period, the purchaser of the product must notify DK2 of the claimed defect and provide proof of original purchase. At this time the validity of the claim will be determined, and if approved replacement parts will be issued.

A Return Goods Authorization Number (RGA) will be issued if approved for DK2 Automotive products. No returned product will be accepted under warranty unless accompanied by an RGA# issued by Detail K2 Inc.
