Antenna Installation Instructions

1. Outdoor Antenna Grounding

If an outside antenna or cable system is connected to the product be sure the antenna or cable system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built-up static charges, Article 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70, provides information with regard to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode.

2. Lightning

For added protection for this product during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended and unused for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect the antenna or cable system. This will prevent damage to the product due to lightning and power-line surges. Do not disconnect the antenna or the power cord during a heavy storm lighting may strike while you are holding the cable cord, causing serious injury; turn off your LCD TV and wait for the weather to improve.

3. Power Lines

An outside antenna system should not be located in the vicinity of overhead power lines or other electric light or power circuits, or where it can fall into such power lines or circuits. When installing an outside antenna system, extreme care should be taken to keep from touching such power lines or circuits as contact with them might be fatal.

Cleaning the LCD TV

• Make sure the LCD TV is turned off.
- Never spray or pour any liquid directly onto the screen or case.

To clean the screen:

  1. Wipe the screen with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth. This removes dust and other particles.
  2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of non-ammonia, non-alcohol based glass cleaner onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, and wipe the screen.

To clean the case:

  1. Use a soft, dry cloth.
  2. If still not clean, apply a small amount of a non-ammonia, non-alcohol based, mild non-abrasive detergent onto a clean, soft, lint-free cloth, then wipe the surface.

Mounting ViewSonic LCD TV to the wall

The LCD TV can be used in a free standing position or wall-mounted. Before installing the product to the wall, please consider the following guidelines:

  • Read the Important Safety Instructions, at the start of this manual.
  • Do not install in a moist or wet environment. This equipment is intended for indoor use.
  • Do not install near heat source, or strong magnetic fields.
  • Use only ViewSonic approved wall-mounting brackets to support the LCD TV weight.
  • Before attaching the wall mount plate to the back cover, ensure the product is working.
  • If your LCD TV is already set up for free-standing operation, you need to first remove the stand before mounting the device to the wall.

To attach the wall-mount bracket to LCD TV safely, please use the following guidelines:

  • Disconnect the power and any other cables that might hinder moving the LCD TV.
  • Set the LCD TV on a table or work surface, placing the screen face down on a towel or woolen blanket to protect the screen surface from damage while installing plate.
  • Through the matching screw holes in the bracket, there are 4 screws mounted on the backside of the LCD TV. Loosen all 4 screws, and keep for future use.

  • Install the wall mount plate to the LCD TV using screws NO LONGER than 10mm, as longer screws found in universal (non-ViewSonic) wall mount kits may damage the power supply causing the unit to fail. The wall-mount screw type is M4 x L10.
  • Mount the wall mount bracket to the wall ensuring use of proper screws to support the installation. Ensure there is at least 3cm of space surrounding any air-vents of your LCD TV to allow adequate cooling during operation.
  • Hang the LCD TV wall mount plate to the wall mount bracket, completing installation. Enjoy your ViewSonic LCD TV!

Installation

1. Insert Remote Control Batteries

1 Remove the battery cover by pulling then lifting the knob on the cover.
2 Insert the batteries, corresponding to the (+) and (-) markings on the battery compartment.
3 Reattach the battery cover.

CAUTION

  • Only use the specified AA batteries.
  • Do not mix new and old batteries. This may result in cracking or leakage, which may pose a risk of fire or lead to personal injury.
  • Insert batteries according to (+) and (-) markings. Inserting the batteries incorrectly may result in cracking or leakage, which may pose a risk of fire or lead to personal injury.
  • Dispose of the battery in accordance with local laws and regulations.
  • Keep the battery away from children and pets.
  • When the remote control will not be used for an extended period, remove the batteries.

2. Connecting RF antenna and Cable TV

Make sure the power is OFF before installing your LCD TV.

1) AIR TV: Connect the LCD TV to TV antenna with 75-ohm coaxial cable. Preset the air TV channels into memory with Auto Scan function when using an antenna TV system. This air input jack both support TV and DTV systems. Besides, the TV system (NTSC) and DTV system (ATSC) can be found by scanning "AIR" with Auto Scan function (see page 28).
2) Cable TV: Connect the LCD TV to the cable with CATV and Digital cable. Preset the cable TV channels into memory with Auto Scan function when using a cable TV system. The cable input jack both support CATV and Digital cable systems. Besides, the CATV system (cable TV) and Digital cable system (clear QAM) can be found by scanning "Cable" with Auto Scan function (see page 28).

Note: Users can select either Air or Cable TV cable to be connected to the TV IN jack. To watch both of them, use an adapter to connect both Air and Cable cables to the jack.

3. Connecting to DVD / Set Top Box

Connect Video/ Audio cables from compatible devices into the back panel of LCD TV. 1) With AV cable:

4. Connecting to the Headphone

5. Connecting to a Computer with VGA cable

Connect the VGA cable from VGA output of computer to the VGA terminal input of your LCD TV. Also, connect the Audio cable (green) from audio output of your Computer to the audio input terminal (green) of your LCD TV.

6. Connecting to a Computer with HDMI-DVI cable

Connect the HDMI-DVI cable from the DVI output of the computer to the HDMI terminal input of the LCD TV. Also, connect the green end of the Audio In cable from the audio output of your computer to the audio input terminal (red/white) of the LCD TV.

7. Connecting with the power cord

Connect the power cord to the AC inlet on the back of your LCD TV, after all connections have been completed, and plug the other end of the power cord into a correctly grounded electrical outlet.

Basic Operation

To operate your LCD TV, you may use the TV remote control or top panel buttons to select input source, change channels, or adjust volume.

Turning on the LCD TV

Before using the LCD TV:

  1. Connect external equipment properly.
  2. Insert the power plug, and the power LED indicator will light orange.

Power On/Off

To turn the LCD TV on/off:

Press the POWER button under the LCD TV, or press the POWER button on your remote control to turn on/off the TV. The power LED indicator lights blue when the LCD TV is on.

Selecting input source

To select the required input source:

Press the INPUT button on the remote control. Use ▲▼ to select the required input source between TV, AV, S-Video, YPbPr, HDMI, and D-SUB.

To confirm the selection, press ENTER.

Press number key or CH▲/▼ button to select your desired channel.

1. ATV

The “-” button has no function in ATV mode. Directly press the number buttons to select channels.

2. DTV

Use “-” button to select the sub channel in DTV.

Ex: Your desired number is 80-3.

Press 8 → press 0 → press “-” → press 3.

*Whether in ATV or DTV, after you input the channel numbers, press ENTER button to direct to the channel immediately, or wait for 3 seconds to change automatically.

* Return to the previous channel, press RECALL button.

Press LIST button and there will be a small window showing program list, you can scroll through the list to select the channel you want directly without using the CH▲/▼ button.

Repeatedly press SLEEP button to set the off timer. The function is used to automatically shut off the LCD TV after a preset period of time passed. There are several times for choice – OFF, 15min, 30min, 60min, 90min, 120min, 180min, 240min.

Zoom

Press ZOOM button repeatedly to select the screen size. You can select from Full, 4:3, Movie Scale, and Zoom In.

MTS Selecting

Press MTS button to choose the available sound output that is preset by TV broadcasting station.

C.C Mode

Press C.C button to select the caption mode.

Using the OSD function

You can use the OSDmenus and options to adjust various settings by using the remote control.

The basic operation is as following:

  • Press MENU to display OSD Menu.
  • Press ◀▶ to select your desired top Menu, and press ENTER or ▲▼ to enter the menu you select.

- Use ▲▼ to select the control you want to adjust.

- When selecting the control with ▶, press ▶ to enter next level menu or enable the function.

- Press ◀▶ to adjust or select the settings.

- Press MENU to exit from the OSD menu.
