Frequently Asked Questions - N3290w VIEWSONIC

How do I connect my cable box or antenna to the TV?
Connect a 75-ohm coaxial cable from the antenna or cable outlet to the TV Input Jack on the rear of the TV. For digital cable, ensure the menu setting 'Air/Cable' is set to 'Cable' before running Auto Channel Search.
What should I do if there is no power?
First, verify the power cord is securely connected to the TV and the wall outlet. Check that the wall outlet is working by plugging in another device. Ensure the power button on the TV is pressed (blue LED should light). If the LED is red, the TV is in standby; press the Power button on the remote or TV.
How can I reset the TV if it becomes unresponsive?
Unplug the AC power cord from the wall outlet and wait 1-2 minutes. Then plug it back in and turn on the TV. This can resolve issues caused by static electricity or minor glitches.
Can I mount this TV on a wall?
Yes, the TV is VESA compatible with a 200x200 mm pattern. Use only ViewSonic wall mount kit WMK-13 or a compatible mount with M6 screws no longer than 10 mm. Follow the installation instructions to avoid damage or injury.
Why is there no picture but sound is working?
Check that the correct input source is selected using the SOURCE button. Ensure the connected device is powered on. If using an antenna, try a different channel. The TV station may be experiencing issues. Also verify all cable connections are secure.
How do I clean the LCD screen safely?
Turn off the TV and unplug it. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe the screen gently. For stubborn stains, slightly dampen the cloth with a mild soap and water solution or a non-ammonia, non-alcohol glass cleaner. Never spray liquid directly onto the screen.
What is the sleep timer and how do I set it?
The sleep timer automatically turns off the TV after a set time. Press the SLEEP button on the remote repeatedly to cycle through options: Off, 5, 10, 15, 30, 45, 60, 90, 120, 180, or 240 minutes. The TV will shut off when the timer expires.
How do I program parental controls?
Press MENU, go to Feature > Parental Control. Enter the password (default 0000). You can set USA or Canadian ratings (MPAA, TV Parental Guidelines). Blocking a rating also blocks all higher ratings. To change password, select Password Set in the Feature menu.
Why is the remote control not working?
Check that batteries are inserted correctly with correct polarity. Replace batteries if weak. Ensure there are no obstructions between the remote and the TV's IR receiver. Fluorescent lights may interfere; try moving closer or turning off such lights.
What is the warranty coverage for this TV?
ViewSonic offers a 1-year limited warranty for parts and labor (excluding the light source) from the date of first consumer purchase. It covers defects in material and workmanship under normal use. Contact ViewSonic customer support with your serial number and proof of purchase to obtain service.

Mounting ViewSonic LCD TV to the wall

The LCD TV can be used in a free standing position or wall-mounted. Before installing the product to the wall, please consider the following guidelines:

  • Read the Important Safety Instructions, at the start of this manual.
  • Do _notstall in a moist or wet environment. This equipment is intended for indoor use.
  • Do not install near heat source, or strong magnetic fields
  • Use only ViewSonic approved wall-mounting brackets to support the LCD TV weight
  • Before attaching the wall mount plate to the back cover, ensure the product is working
  • If your LCD TV is already set up for free-standing operation, you need to first remove the stand before mounting the device to the wall.

To attach the wall-mount bracket to LCD TV safely, please use the following guidelines:

- Disconnect the power and any other cables that might hinder moving the LCD TV.

- Set the LCD TV on a table or work surface, placing the screen face down on a towel or woolen blanket to protect the screen surface from damage while installing plate.

- Through the matching screw holes in the bracket, there are 4 screws mounted on the backside of the LCD TV. Loosen all 4 screws, and keep for future use.

- Install the wall mount plate to the LCD TV using screws NO LONGER than 10mm, as longer screws found in universal (non-ViewSonic) wall mount kits may damage the power supply causing the unit to fail. The wall-mount screw type is M6 x L10.

- Mount the wall mount bracket to the wall ensuring use of proper screws to support the installation. Ensure there is at least 6cm of space surrounding any air-vents of your LCD TV to allow adequate cooling during operation.

- Hang the LCD TV wall mount plate to the wall mount bracket, completing installation. Enjoy your ViewSonic LCD TV
