Frequently Asked Questions - BP-975 CANON

How do I charge the Canon BP-975 battery?
Use the dedicated Canon CG-800 charger or compatible charger. Connect the charger to the battery and plug into a power outlet. The LED indicator will show charging status; it turns off when fully charged. Avoid charging at temperatures below 0°C or above 40°C.
Can I use the BP-975 with other Canon camcorders?
The BP-975 is designed for Canon XF and XA series camcorders, as well as some other professional models. Check your device compatibility list to ensure proper fit and function.
What is the estimated lifespan of the BP-975?
Lithium-ion batteries last about 300 charge cycles or 2-3 years under normal usage. After that, capacity gradually decreases. Replace if runtime becomes insufficient.
How should I store the battery when not in use?
Store in a cool, dry place at around 10°C to 30°C with 40-60% charge. Avoid full discharge or full charge for long-term storage. Recharge every 6 months if stored for extended periods.
Is the BP-975 battery compatible with older Canon chargers?
The BP-975 uses the same battery interface as other Canon BP-900 series batteries, but for optimal performance and safety, use the Canon CG-800 or later chargers. Older chargers may not provide proper charging parameters.
What should I do if the battery gets wet?
Immediately remove the battery from the device and dry it with a soft cloth. Do not charge or use until completely dry. If liquid has entered the battery, discontinue use and contact Canon support.
How do I dispose of the Canon BP-975 battery?
Lithium-ion batteries should not be thrown in household trash. Recycle at designated battery recycling facilities or return to Canon authorized service centers. Follow local regulations.
What does the LED indicator on the charger mean?
Solid orange: charging in progress. Solid green: fully charged. Flashing orange: error, likely due to temperature or communication issue. Refer to charger manual for details.
Can I use a third-party charger for the BP-975?
Third-party chargers may work but are not recommended as they might not meet Canon's safety specifications. Using non-Canon chargers could affect battery performance and void warranty.
