Frequently Asked Questions - APC-804SB Aroma

How do I use the pressure cook function?
Add food and water to the inner pot (do not exceed 4/5 full). Close lid securely, turn steam vent to 'AIRTIGHT'. Press POWER, then PRESSURE SETTING to choose pressure level (low/medium/high). Use HOUR/MIN to set cooking time (max 90 minutes). Press START/KEEP WARM. The cooker will beep when pressure is reached and count down. When done, release pressure manually by moving steam vent to 'EXHAUST' before opening.
Can I cook rice in this pressure cooker?
Yes, it has dedicated White Rice and Brown Rice functions. Use the provided measuring cup, rinse rice, add water to the corresponding line inside the pot. Close lid, set steam vent to 'AIRTIGHT', press the appropriate rice button. The cooker will automatically adjust time and pressure.
How do I clean the pressure cooker?
Unplug and let cool. Wash lid (top and underside) and accessories in warm soapy water. Clean the inner pot with sponge; it is also dishwasher safe (top rack). Wipe the base with a damp cloth. Do not immerse base or cord. Remove and clean the exhaust valve to prevent clogging.
What are the safety features?
The APC-804SB has 7 safety systems: automatic steam release if pressure is too high, lid lock prevents opening under pressure, flexible gasket releases excess pressure, built-in pressure limiter, digital pressure sensor, thermal cut-off to prevent dry boiling, and a power fuse that blows if overheating occurs.
Can I use the delay timer?
Yes, press DELAY TIMER, then HOUR to set delay (up to 10 hours). Then select your cooking function. The cooker will start after the delay. Note: Delay timer is not recommended for Slow Cook, Meat, or Poultry functions.
What should I do if the lid is hard to open?
Do not force it. If the lid is difficult to turn, it means pressure is still inside. Ensure the steam vent is in 'EXHAUST' position and wait until all steam escapes. The unit must cool down and depressurize completely before opening.
Can I slow cook without pressure?
Yes, use the SLOW COOK function. Set steam vent to 'EXHAUST' position. Press POWER, then SLOW COOK. Adjust time from 2 to 9.5 hours using HOUR and MIN. Press START/KEEP WARM to begin.
What are the pressure levels and their uses?
High (3P, ~10 psi) for meats and tough vegetables. Medium (2P, ~5 psi) for poultry and seafood. Low (1P, ~2.5 psi) for delicate foods like fish and vegetables. The table in the manual provides approximate psi.
How do I steam food?
Add water to the inner pot (at least 1/5 full). Place the steam rack inside. Put food on the rack or in a heat-safe dish on the rack. Close lid, set steam vent to 'EXHAUST'. Press POWER, then STEAM. The cooker will heat and beep when boiling; cooking time counts down. Use HOUR/MIN to adjust time.
What is covered under warranty?
Aroma offers a 2-year limited warranty from date of purchase covering defects in material and workmanship. Proof of purchase is required. Contact customer service at 1-800-276-6286 for return authorization. A $15 shipping/handling fee applies.
