Frequently Asked Questions - KAVACRBL14W Kogan

How do I set up my Kogan KAVACRBL14W robot vacuum for the first time?
First, place the charging dock against a wall with 50 cm clearance on each side and 150 cm in front. Connect the power adapter and turn it on. Attach the side brushes (L and R) to the corresponding letters on the bottom. Place the vacuum on the dock to charge. Then download the Kogan SmarterHome app, register an account, and follow the in-app instructions to connect the vacuum to your 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi network.
Can I use the mopping function on carpets?
No, do not use the mopping function on carpets. The robot vacuum only supports mopping on hard floors. You can set a forbidden zone in the app to prevent it from entering carpeted areas.
How long does the battery last on a full charge?
Battery life depends on the suction mode and floor type. Typically, the 2600 mAh battery provides around 100–120 minutes of runtime on Normal mode. When the battery drops below 20%, the vacuum automatically returns to the charging dock.
Why is my vacuum not returning to the charging dock?
Ensure the charging dock is positioned with at least 50 cm clearance on each side and 150 cm in front, and that the power indicator is on. The vacuum may have trouble locating the dock if it was moved during cleaning. In that case, manually place the vacuum closer to the dock. Also check that the charging contacts on both the vacuum and dock are clean.
How do I schedule a cleaning?
Open the Kogan SmarterHome app, go to the vacuum's control page, and select the schedule option. Set the desired time and days. The vacuum will start cleaning automatically at the scheduled time as long as the battery is above 20%.
What does error code 'Error 4: Clean bottom sensor' mean?
This indicates the cliff sensors on the bottom are dirty or blocked. Clean them gently with a soft, dry cloth. Also ensure the vacuum is placed on a level surface before restarting.
Can I use the vacuum without the app?
Yes, the vacuum can be operated manually using the Power and Home buttons. Press Power to start/pause cleaning, press and hold Power for 3 seconds to turn off, and press Home to recharge or start local cleaning. However, for advanced features like scheduling, suction adjustment, and voice control, the app is required.
How do I clean the filter and dustbin?
Remove the dustbin by pressing the button and pulling it out. Empty the debris. Then remove the filter gauze, sponge, and HEPA filter. Rinse them under running water without detergent, shake off excess water, and let them air-dry for at least 24 hours before reinstalling. Replace filters every 3–6 months.
Why does my vacuum make a strange noise during cleaning?
Common causes: the dustbin is full (empty it), the filter is clogged (clean or replace), or the roller brush is tangled with hair or debris (remove and clean it). Also check the side brushes for obstructions.
How do I connect the vacuum to Amazon Alexa or Google Home?
First, ensure you have the Kogan SmarterHome app set up. Then open the Alexa or Google Home app, search for 'Kogan SmarterHome' skill/service, and log in with your SmarterHome account credentials. After authorization, your vacuum will appear in the device list. Voice commands can then control basic functions like start, pause, and return to dock.

  • Ensure there is a 50cm clearance either side, and 150cm clearance in front of the dock. When installing, keep the power cord in the air; if it is close to the ground, it may be dragged by the vacuum, causing the charging dock to lose power.
  • The power indicator will stay on when connected to power.

  • Attach the left and right side brushes (L, R) to the corresponding letter on the underside of the vacuum. There should be a clicking sound when each side brush is secured.
