Frequently Asked Questions - RCJ1809 Khind

How do I cook rice in the Khind RCJ1809?
Measure rice using the provided measuring cup. Rinse the rice separately (do not wash in the inner pot). Place washed rice in the inner pot and add water at a ratio of 1:1.2 (rice to water). Wipe the outside of the pot, place it in the cooker, lock the lid, plug in, and press the switch button to start cooking. The COOK indicator will light up. When done, the switch will pop up and the WARM indicator will light.
What is the maximum amount of rice I can cook?
For white rice, the maximum is 10 cups (using the measuring cup provided). For brown rice, the maximum is 5 cups. Do not cook less than 2 cups for this model.
How do I steam food in this rice cooker?
Pour at least 0.5L of water into the inner pot. Place the steam tray with food inside. Close the lid and press the switch button. Cooking time varies depending on the food. Use caution when removing the steam tray as steam is hot.
How should I clean the rice cooker?
Always unplug and let cool before cleaning. Wipe the outer body with a damp cloth. Clean the inner pot with dishwashing detergent and a soft sponge. Do not use abrasive cleaners or metal brushes. Clean the heating plate gently with a damp cloth to remove any rice grains.
Why won't the switch button engage?
The switch button will not engage if the inner pot is not sitting properly on the heating plate. Ensure the inner pot is correctly aligned and placed flat. Also check that the lid is locked properly. If the problem persists, the unit may need service.
What does the WARM indicator light mean?
The WARM indicator lights up when the rice cooker is in keep warm mode. This occurs automatically after cooking is complete or when you first plug in the unit. The cooker will keep the rice warm for up to 6 hours, after which quality may decline.
Can I wash rice directly in the inner pot?
No. Washing rice directly in the inner pot can damage the non-stick coating and deform the bottom. Always use a separate container to rinse the rice.
How do I reheat rice without it sticking?
After cooking, stir the rice with the spatula. Sprinkle a little water on top, then press the cook lever. Wait a few minutes after it trips before serving. This helps reduce crust and sticking.
Is the Khind RCJ1809 safe to leave unattended?
The appliance is designed with safety features such as automatic keep warm and a thermal cutout. However, it is recommended not to leave it unattended for long periods. Always unplug when not in use.
