How do I connect the Samson DEU1 to my computer?

Plug the USB-C connector of the UP1 adapter directly into a USB-C port, or use the included USB-A adapter for older ports. The LED will light white when connected.

Can I use the DEU1 with my smartphone?

Yes, the DEU1 is compatible with iOS and Android devices via USB-C or USB-A with an appropriate adapter (included). Note that some devices may require a powered USB hub.

How do I adjust the microphone volume?

Microphone gain and playback volume are controlled through your host device (computer, tablet, etc.). There are no physical volume controls on the UP1 adapter.

What does the LED color indicate?

A white LED indicates normal operation (microphone active). A red LED indicates the microphone is muted. Press the MUTE button to toggle.

How do I mute the microphone?

Press the MUTE button on the UP1 adapter. The LED will turn red to confirm muting. Press again to unmute (LED back to white).

What is the included microphone type?

The DEU1 bundle includes the DE5 headset microphone, an electret condenser model with an omnidirectional pickup pattern. It connects via a threaded 3.5 mm jack to the UP1 adapter.

Can I use a different microphone with the UP1 adapter?

The UP1 adapter is designed for compatible electret microphones with a 3.5 mm mono plug and 3 VDC bias. The LM8 lavalier (from the LMU1 bundle) is also compatible, but other microphones may not work.

What are the system requirements?

The DEU1 works with any device that supports USB audio class 2.0: macOS, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android. No additional drivers are required.

How do I clean the DEU1?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the adapter and microphone. Avoid moisture and cleaning agents. For the microphone grille, gently brush with a soft brush to remove debris.

What should I do if the device isn't recognized?

Try a different USB port or cable. Ensure the host device supports USB audio. Restart the device. If issues persist, contact Samson Technologies support.

Quick Start

1. Connect LM8 (LMU1 bundle) or DE5 (DEU1 bundle) to UP1's threaded 3.5 mm (1/8") microphone input jack. Headphones or earbuds can be connected to the 1/8" headphone output jack depending on user's application.
2. Plug the USB-C, or USB-A adapter into a desktop or laptop computer, tablet, or smart device. LED lights white indicating proper connection.
3. NOTE: Playback volume and microphone gain must be adjusted using the host device, such as a computer, laptop, smartphone, or tablet.
4. Press MUTE button to mute or un-mute audio signal from connected microphone (LM8 or DE5). MUTE = RED color LED, WHITE color LED is normal operation.
