Frequently Asked Questions - ALT58BT AEG

What battery packs are compatible with the AEG ALT58BT?
The ALT58BT is compatible with AEG 58V battery packs: ABP58LI-201 (2.0Ah) and ABP58LI-401 (4.0Ah). The battery and charger are sold separately.
How do I replace the cutting line on the ALT58BT?
First, remove the battery pack. Use only 2.4 mm diameter nylon filament line (part number 528721000). Follow the manual instructions to wind the line onto the spool, then feed through the eyelets. The integrated cut-off blade on the guard automatically trims the line to the correct length.
What is the cutting swath of the ALT58BT?
The ALT58BT offers two cutting swaths: 380 mm at high speed and 430 mm at low speed. This allows you to balance power and coverage depending on grass condition.
Can I use metal blades on this trimmer?
No. The ALT58BT is designed exclusively for nylon filament line. Using metal blades is dangerous and can damage the product; the manual explicitly warns against it.
How do I store the trimmer when not in use?
Remove the battery pack, clean the product, and allow it to cool. Store in a cool, dry, well-ventilated place inaccessible to children. Keep away from corrosive agents like garden chemicals. Do not store outdoors.
Is the ALT58BT suitable for wet grass?
The manual advises avoiding use on wet grass for safety reasons. Wet grass can reduce traction and increase the risk of slipping. Always operate in dry conditions.
What safety gear should I wear when using this trimmer?
Always wear eye and hearing protection. Additionally, wear heavy long trousers, boots, gloves, and secure long hair above shoulder level. Use head protection if there is risk of falling objects.
How do I clean the ALT58BT after use?
Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the product. Do not use water or solvents. Ensure ventilation openings are free of debris. The cut-off blade on the guard is very sharp; avoid touching it during cleaning.
What is the noise level of this trimmer?
The A-weighted sound pressure level at the operator position is 90.3 dB(A) with uncertainty 2.5 dB. The sound power level is 104.6 dB(A). Hearing protection is recommended.
How can I reduce vibration when using the trimmer?
Keep your body warm, wear gloves, take frequent breaks, and limit daily exposure. Ensure the product is well-maintained, as dull line or loose parts increase vibration. Exercise hands after operation.

WARNING!

The vibration emission level given in this information sheet has been measured in accordance with a standardised test method and may be used to compare one tool with another. It may be used for a preliminary assessment of exposure.

The declared vibration emission level represents the main applications of the tool. However if the tool is used for different applications, with different accessories or poorly maintained, the vibration emission may differ. This may significantly increase the exposure level over the total working period.

An estimation of the level of exposure to vibration should also take into account the times when the tool is switched off or when it is running but not actually doing the job. This may significantly reduce the exposure level over the total working period.

Identify additional safety measures to protect the operator from the effects of vibration such as: maintain the tool and the accessories, keep the hands warm, organisation of work patterns.

INTENDED USE

The cordless line trimmer is intended to be used only by adults who have read and understood the instructions and warnings in this manual and can be considered responsible for their actions. The

product is only intended for use outdoors in a well-ventilated area. For safety reasons, the product must be adequately controlled by a two-handed operation.

When fitted with the line trimmer head (and appropriate guard), the

product is intended for cutting long grass, pulpy weeds, and similar vegetation at or about ground level.

The cutting plane should be approximately parallel to the ground surface. The product should not be used to cut or trim hedges, bushes, or other vegetation where the cutting plane is not parallel to the ground surface.

Do not use the product for any other purpose.

RISK REDUCTION

It has been reported that vibrations from handheld tools may contribute to a condition called Raynaud's Syndrome. Symptoms may include tingling, numbness, and blanching of the fingers, usually apparent upon exposure to cold. Hereditary factors, exposure to cold and dampness, diet, smoking, and work practices are all thought to contribute to the development of these symptoms. There are measures that can be taken by the operator to possibly reduce the effects of vibration:

  • Keep your body warm in cold weather. When operating the product, wear gloves to keep the hands and wrists warm. It is reported that cold weather is a major factor contributing to Raynaud's Syndrome.
    ■ After each period of operation, exercise to increase blood circulation.
    ■ Take frequent work breaks. Limit the amount of exposure per day.

WARNING! Injuries may be caused, or aggravated, by prolonged use of a tool. When using any tool for prolonged periods, ensure you take regular breaks.
