In addition, this unit can play a DVD±R/RW and CD-R or CD-RW that contains audio titles, MP3, WMA, JPEG files. Depending on the conditions of the recording equipment or the CD-R/RW (or DVD±R/RW) disc itself, some CD-R/RW (or DVD±R/RW) discs may not be played on the unit due to the recording quality or physical condition of the disc, or the characteristics of the recording device and authoring software. The disc will not play if it has not been correctly finalized. Player does not support these kinds of discs.

About the Symbol Display
* may appear on your TV display during operation and indicates that the function explained in this owner's manual is not available on that specific DVD video disc.
Regional code
This unit has a regional code printed on the rear of the unit. This unit can play only DVD discs labeled same as the rear of the unit or "ALL".
- Most DVD discs have a globe with one or more numbers in it clearly visible on the cover. This number must match your unit's regional code or the disc cannot play.
- If you try to play a DVD with a different regional code from your player, the message "Check Regional Code" appears on the TV screen.

It is forbidden by law to copy, broadcast, show, broadcast via cable, play in public, or rent copyrighted material without permission. This product features the copy protection function developed by Macrovision. Copy protection signals are recorded on some discs. When recording and playing the pictures of these discs picture noise will appear. Power Save Mode
You can set up the unit into an economic power save mode.
In power-on status, press and hold ⏻/I (POWER) button for about 3
seconds.
- Nothing is displayed in the display window when the unit is turned off.
To cancel, press ⏻(POWER), CLOCK, TIMER or REVERSE MODE.
Remote control Operation
Point the Remote Control at the remote sensor and press the buttons.
Remote control Battery Installation
Detach the battery cover on the rear of the remote control, and insert two
R03 (size AAA) batteries with ⊕ and ⊖ aligned correctly.
Do not mix old and new batteries. Never mix different types of batteries (standard, alkaline, etc.).

Setting up
Attaching the speakers to the unit
Connect the wires to the unit.
Match each wire's coloured band to the same coloured connection terminal on the reverse of the unit.
To connect the cable to the unit, press each plastic finger pad to open
the connection terminal. Insert the wire and release the finger pad. The connector will open ready to receive a cable.
MDV903 MODEL
Connect the red end of each wire to the terminals marked +(plus) and the black end to the terminals marked - (minus).
Connection of the subwoofer
Connect the speaker cables to the surround speaker terminals.
Connection of the subwoofer
Connect the subwoofer(A) cables to the subwoofer terminals and the woofer system cable to the woofer system connector.
Connect the subwoofer(B) speaker cables to the subwoofer(A) speaker terminals.

Using the subwoofer
You can use the sound of the subwoofer to enhance the bass.
Turn the POWER on the subwoofer. The display is changes in the following order.

Hooking up the unit
MONITOR OUT / COMPONENT VIDEO OUT (PROGRESSIVE SCAN)/AUX IN
COMPONENT VIDEO OUT (PROGRESSIVE SCAN) jacks connection
Connect one end of the component(Y PB PR) cable to the COMPONENT VIDEO OUT (PROGRESSIVE SCAN) jack on the unit and other end to the COMPONENT INPUT jack on your TV.
AUX IN (R/L) Jacks connection
Connect a VCR or Auxiliary device, etc. to the INPUT jack of this unit. Press the INPUT button on the remote control until the "AUX" indicator is displayed in the display window.

MONITOR jack connection
Connect the MONITOR jack on the unit to the corresponding input jacks on your TV using a Video cable.
Antenna connection
Fit the AM loop aerial to its stand
Connect the AM loop aerial to the player.
Connect the FM aerial
The reception will be at its best when the two loose ends of the aerial are in a straight line and horizontal.

POWER: Switches the unit ON or OFF.
DISC SKIP Choose a desired disc.
MUTE : Press MUTE to mute your unit. You can mute your unit in order, for example, to answer the telephone.

SLEEP: You can set the unit to turn off automatically at a specified time.
- DIMMER Dims the LED (Light-emitting diode) of front panel by half in power-on status.

ECHO VOL.(▼/▲):Adjusts echo volume
MIC VOL.(▼/▲): Adjusts microphone volume
SETUP : Accesses or removes setup menu
MENU : Accesses the menu on a DVD disc.
DISPLAY: Accesses On-Screen Display.
TITLE: If the current DVD title has a menu, the title menu appears on the screen. Otherwise, the disc menu may appear
◀/▶/▲/▼ (left/right/up/down): Used to navigate on-screen displays.
SELECT/ENTER : Acknowledges menu selection.
PRESET (-/+) (▼/▲) : Selects programme of Radio.
TUN.(-/+)(◄/►): Tunes in the desired radio station.

- 1.5 speed playback
The 1.5 speed allows you to watch the pictures and listen to the sound quicker than playing at a normal speed on the disc.- (page 13)

track/Title.
PROG./MEMO.: Accesses or removes Program menu.

- REPEAT : Repeats a Chapter/ Track/ Title all.
S-TITLE: During playback, S - TITLE repeatedly to select a desired subtitle language.
- SHADOW : If KARAOKE Disc caption and the song's subtitle are mixed up, the song's subtitle may be invisible. In this case, to highlight the song's subtitle, press SHADOW. - It will be highlighted by background shadow image.
CLEAR: Removes a track number on the Program List.
RETURN (6): Press to move back wards in the menu.
KARAOKE : To use the KARAOKE function press the Karaoke button.

Adjust the language settings
OSD- Select a language for the Setup menu and on-screen display.
Disc Audio/Subtitle/Disc Menu – Select a language for the
Menu/Audio/Subtitle.
[Original]: Refers to the original language in which the disc was recorded.
[Others]: To select another language, press number buttons then
SELECT/ENTER to enter the corresponding
4-digit number according to the language code list in the reference chapter.
If you make a mistake while entering number, press CLEAR to delete numbers then correct it.
[OFF] (for Disc Subtitle): Turn off Subtitle.
Adjust the display settings
TV Aspect – Select which screen aspect to use based on the shape of your TV screen.
[4:3]: Select when a standard 4:3 TV is connected.
[16:9]: Select when a 16:9 wide TV is connected.
Display Mode – If you selected 4:3, you'll need to define how you would like widescreen programs and films to be displayed on your TV screen.
[Letterbox]: This displays a widescreen picture with black bands at the top
and bottom of the screen.
[Panscan]: This fills the entire 4:3 screen, cropping the picture as necessary.

Progressive Scan-
Progressive Scan Video provides the high quality pictures with less flickering. If you are using the Component Video jacks for connection to a TV or monitor that is compatible with a progressive scan signal, set [Progressive Scan] to [On].
Press SELECT/ENTER to confirm your selection
- If you not press ENTER within 10 seconds it will be [OFF].
Adjust the audio settings
DRC (Dynamic Range Control) – Make the sound clear when the volume is turned down (Dolby Digital only). Set to [On] for this effect.
Vocal – Select [On] to mix karaoke channels into normal stereo. This function is effective for multi-channel karaoke DVDs only.
Adjust the lock settings
To access the lock options, you must enter the 4-digit password. If you have not yet entered a password you are prompted to do so. Enter a 4-digit password. Enter it again to verify. If you make a mistake while entering number, press CLEAR to delete numbers then correct it.
If you forget your password you can reset it. Press SETUP and Input '210499' The password has now been cleared.
Rating – Select a rating level. The lower the level, the stricter the rating. Select [UNLOCK] to deactivate the rating.
Password – Sets or changes the password for lock settings. [New]: Enter a new 4-digits password using the numerical buttons then press SELECT/ENTER. Enter the password again to confirm. [Change]: Enter the new password twice after entering the current password.
Area code – Select a code for a geographic area as the playback rating level. This determines which area's standards are used to rate DVDs controlled by the parental lock. See the Area Codes on page 23.
Adjust the others settings
PBC (Playback Control) – Playback control provides special navigation features that are available on some disc. Select [On] to use this feature.
DivX (R) Registration - We provide you with the DivX® VOD (Video On Demand) registration code that allows you to rent and purchase videos using the DivX® VOD service.
For more information, visit www.divx.com/vod.
Press SELECT/ENTER when [Select] icon is highlighted and you can view the registration code of the unit.
Semi Karaoke - When a chapter/ title / track is fully finished, this function shows the score in the screen with a fanfare sound.
- Semi Karaoke on : Turn the "Semi Karaoke" function on.
When you finished singing a score will appear on the screen.
- Semi Karaoke off : Turn the "Semi Karaoke" function off. Fanfare and score do not appears on the screen
Available discs for the Semi Karaoke function
- DVD, DVD Karaoke discs with more than 2 tracks
- This function operate on the DVD/CD mode.
- The Semi Karaoke function is available only when a microphone is connected.
- When you watching movies, "off" the Semi Karaoke at the SETUP menu or enjoy it without connecting the MIC if the fanfare or score appears during changing a chapter.
Bit Rate - Select Bit Rate signal speed 96kbps or 128kbps (Rec. Bit rate)
SSR (Real Time Score) - This function will be show the Score to real time by checking interval and beat during sing a song in the karaoke mode only. Select the [On] : Score bar shows 41 level while checking the interval and beat.
Select the[Off]: Score bar are not display on the screen.
-This function is not supported the Semi karaoke mode.

If you choose TUNER, "PLAY" and "REC" flashes in the display window alternately. Choose one of them by pressing the SET and then, select the preset using ◀◀◀◀ or ▶▶▶▶ and press SET.
If you choose DVD/CD,USB or TAPE you will be shown below. You will be shown the "ON TIME" display. This is where you set the time you want the alarm to go off. Use ◀◀◀◀ or ▶▶▶▶ to change the hours and minutes and SET to save. You will then be shown the "OFF TIME" display. This is where you set the time you want the function to stop. Use ◀◀◀◀ or ▶▶▶▶ to change the hours and minutes and press SET to save.
Next you will be shown the volume (VOL) you want to be woken by. Use I ◀◀◀◀ or▶▶▶▶ to change the volume and SET to save. Switch the system off. The clock icon "○" shows that the alarm is set.
When the system is turned off you can check the time the alarm is set for by pressing TIMER. You can also turn the alarm on and off by pressing TIMER. To set the alarm to go off at a different time, switch the system on and reprogramme following the same steps as initially.

Fall asleep while listening to your player
You can set the unit to turn off automatically at a specified time.
Each time you press SLEEP the setting changes in the following order.
Press SLEEP once. The LED (Light-emitting diode) of front panel is turned off and the display window will be darken by half. To cancel it, press SLEEP repeatedly until dim off.

Slow down the playing speed DVD
While playback is paused, press SCAN (▶) to slow down forward playback. You can change the various playback speed by pressing SCAN (▶) repeatedly. Press PLAY (▶) to continue play at normal speed. DVD disc can operate Slow down Forward/ Reverse playback only.

Last Scene Memory DVD
This unit memorizes last scene from the last disc that is viewed. The last scene remains in memory even if you remove the disc from the player or switch off the unit. If you load a disc that has the scene memorized, the scene is automatically recalled.
Screen Saver
The screen saver appears when you leave the unit in Stop mode for about five minutes.

Creating your own program
You can play the contents of a disc in the order you want by arranging the order of the musics on the disc. The program is cleared when the disc is removed. Select a desired music then press PROG./MEMO. or select "band then press SELECT/ENTER to add the music to the program list. To add all music in the disc, select "band then press SELECT/ENTER. Select a music from the program list then press SELECT/ENTER to start programmed playback. To clear a music from the program list, select the music you want to clear then press CLEAR or select "band" icon and then press SELECT/ENTER. To clear all music from the program list, select "band then press SELECT/ENTER.
Displaying file information (ID3 TAG)
While playing a MP3 file containing file information, you can display the information by pressing DISPLAY repeatedly.
MP3 / WMA disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows: - Sampling frequency: within 32 - 48 kHz (MP3), within 24 - 48kHz (WMA) - Bit rate: within 32 - 320kbps (MP3), 40 - 192kbps (WMA) - The unit cannot read an MP3/WMA file that has a file extension other than ".mp3" / *.wma".
- CD-R physical format should be ISO 9660 - If you record MP3 / WMA files using software that cannot create a file system (eg. Direct-CD) it is impossible to playback MP3 / WMA files. We recommend that you use Easy-CD Creator, which creates an ISO 9660 file system. - File names should have a maximum of 8 letters and must incorporate an .mp3 or .wma extension.
• They should not contain special letters such as /?"; "< > I etc. • The total number of files on the disc should be less than 999. This unit requires discs and recordings to meet certain technical standards in order to achieve optimal playback quality. Pre-recorded DVDs are automatically set to these standards. There are many different types of recordable disc formats (including CD-R containing MP3 or WMA files) and those require certain pre-existing conditions (see above) to ensure compatible playback.
Customers should note that permission is required in order to download MP3 / WMA files and music from the Internet. Our company has no right to grant such permission. Permission should always be sought from the copyright owner.

JPEG disc compatibility with this player is limited as follows:
- Depending upon the size and the number of JPEG files, it could take a long time for the this unit. to read the disc's contents. If you don't see an on-screen display after several minutes, some of the files may be too large — reduce the resolution of the JPEG files to less than 2M pixels as 2760 x 2048 pixels and burn another disc.
- The total number of files and folders on the disc should be less than 999.
- Some discs may not operate due to a different recording format or the condition of disc.
- Ensure that all the selected files have the ".jug" extensions when copying into the CD layout.
- If the files have ".jpeg" or ".jpeg" extensions, please rename them as ".jug" file.
- File names without ".jug" extension will not be able to be read by this unit. Even though the files are shown as JPEG image files in Windows Explorer.
Listening to the radio - more you can do
Look for radio stations automatically
Press TUNING - /TUNING + on the front panel (or press TUN.-/TUN.+ on the remote control) for more than 0.5 second. The tuner will scan automatically and stop when it finds a radio station.
Delete all the saved stations
Press and hold PROG./MEMO. for two seconds. "ERASE ALL" shows.
Press PROG./MEMO. to erase all the saved stations.
Choose a 'preset number' for a radio station
Select a station you want by pressing TUNING-/TUNING + on the front panel or TUN.-/TUN.+ on the remote control. Press PROG./MEMO., the station flashes. Press PRESET (+/-)on the remote control to select the preset number you want. Press PROG./MEMO. to save it.
To improve reception :
Reposition the supplied antennas.

3.LYRIC ON/OFF (LÍRICA ON/OFF)
"On": When singing by selection of melody, song lyric
4.CHORUS ON/OFF (CORO ON/OFF)
"On": When singing by selection of melody, song
chorus is heard a sound.
To cancel it, select the "Off"..
