How do I measure air velocity with the HER-440?

Turn on the device; it defaults to VELOCITY function. Press UNIT to select your desired unit (m/s, km/h, mil/h, ft/s, ft/min, knots). Place the anemometer into the wind flow with the propeller facing the air source and wait for a stable reading.

How do I measure airflow (CFM/CMM)?

First, you must enter the cross-sectional area of the duct or opening. Press FUNC to select AREA, then edit the digits (flashing) using UNIT to change value and MAX to move to the next digit. Set unit (m² or ft²) and confirm. Then press FUNC to switch to FLOW function, press UNIT to choose CMM, CMS, or CFM, and aim the propeller into the airflow.

How do I change the measurement units?

After selecting a function (VELOCITY, AREA, or FLOW), press UNIT repeatedly to cycle through the available units. For area, first make the unit flash by pressing the up arrow (or MAX) repeatedly, then press UNIT to switch between m² and ft².

How does the HOLD function work?

Press HOLD to freeze the current reading on the display. The HOLD icon will appear. Press HOLD again to release the hold and resume live measurement.

What does the MAX/MIN button do?

Press MAX/MIN to view the highest (MAX) or lowest (MIN) recorded reading since the function was activated. Press repeatedly to toggle between MAX, MIN, and normal display.

How do I turn on the backlight?

Press the backlight button (▲ icon) to illuminate the display for a few seconds. The backlight turns off automatically to save battery.

What battery does the HER-440 use and how do I replace it?

It uses a standard 9V square battery (PP3). Open the battery compartment on the back, remove the old battery, connect a new 9V battery to the snap connector, and close the compartment. Remove the battery if the device will not be used for a long time.

How do I clean the anemometer?

Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use solvents or chemicals as they may damage the device. Avoid getting moisture into the propeller or openings.

What does the auto-off function do?

The device automatically turns off after 10 minutes of inactivity to preserve battery life. This setting can be adjusted (consult manual for details). Press any button to wake the device if it turns off.

HIGHLIGHTS

Use this anemometer anytime you need to measure accurately and have the control of air flow and speed, like air extractor installation, vent systems or air conditioner systems.

This device shows measuring in real time; it has a Hold button to keep the reading on screen if you need it. It also has the function of maximum and minimum reading.

To measure air speed you will have next units: m/s, km/h, mil/h, ft/s, ft/min and knots; this is very useful in nautical or aeronautics.

The air flow can be measured in the required area (from .001 up to 9.999 m2 or ft2) in CMM, CMS or CFM.

The display can be illuminated if you need it in low light conditions. Besides, it has a battery indicator and auto off function.

IMPORTANT

• This product is NOT a toy; keep it away from kids.

- Do not try to open the device, may cause damages and warranty will be void.

- Do not use or store the equipment near wet places. May cause malfunction or shock hazard.

- Do not use solvents or other chemicals to clean the exterior of the device.

- When is not in use, remove the battery.

HOW TO USE

This device have 2 basic functions: measure the velocity and the flow of the wind. First, identify the area of measure to place the anemometer.

Always aim the device into the wind flow, the air must enter behind of the propeller.

Velocity measuring

1. Turn on the equipment. Will start by default in VELOCITY function
2. Press UNIT to select the measure unit (m/s, km/, mil/h, ft/s, ft/m or knots).
3. Place the anemometer into the measuring area and wait until take a reading.

Flow mesuring

Is necessary that previously you know the values of the area where you want to measure the flow of the air.

a) Enter the area

Enter manually the values of the area as indicated in the next steps:

1. Turn on the device and press Ⓗ until select the AREA function
2. In the screen appears: 1.000. The first digit flashing means that is editable. Press (UNIT) to change the value between 0 and 9.
3. Press MAX to edit the next number and change it with UNIT
4. Make the same with the others digits.
5. Change the measure unit (m2 or ft2) with UNIT (if is necessary).
6. To save the changes press MAX (the measure unit remains fixed)

b) Air flow measuring

Once you've entered the area, continue with the measuring:

1. Press FUNC until locate in the FLOW function.
2. Press UNIT to select the measure unit (CMS, CMM or CFM).
3. Place the anemometer into the measuring area and wait until take a reading.

This Steren product is warranted under normal usage against defects in workmanship and materials to the original purchaser for one year from the date of purchase.

CONDITIONS

1.- This warranty card with all the required information, invoice, product box or package, and product, must be presented when warranty service is required.
2.- If the product stills on the warranty time, the company will repair it free of charge.
3.- The repairing time will not exceed 30 natural days, from the day the claim was received.
