Wireless Door Chime

Operating Instructions

Operating Guide

Thank you for choosing the Swann Wireless Door Chime. It's an ideal unit for easily installing a doorbell without the hassle of wiring. Simply add some batteries, mount the two pieces where needed and you are ready to go! The doorbell features 16 chimes to suit your needs.

Installing Batteries (Chime unit)

  • The chime unit requires 3 x AA batteries to operate (which are not included). For best performance, use fresh, high quality AA alkaline batteries.
  • To install them, unclip the battery cover on the rear of the unit to reveal the battery compartment.
  • The polarity of batteries is indicated by the markings inside the battery compartment.

Changing Batteries (Doorbell unit)

  • The doorbell requires 1 x 23A/12V battery (included).
  • The battery is already installed; simply remove the small plastic tab from the slot on the back of the doorbell to power it up.
  • If you need to replace the battery, insert a small flat-head screwdriver into the small notch at the base of the doorbell and lift the front cover off.
  • Replace with a battery of the same type. Make sure the battery is oriented properly before refitting the doorbell front cover.

Changing the Chime Tune

  • To change the chime tune, remove the front cover of the doorbell using a small flat-head screwdriver.
  • Inside the doorbell unit, locate the purple Chime Select button as shown opposite. Press the Chime Select button to play the next tune. Keep pressing the button until you hear a tune you like. You do not need to confirm your selection. The tune playing is the tune selected and the one which will be heard when the doorbell is pressed.
  • Refit the doorbell front cover.

Installation

Mounting the Doorbell

The doorbell is mounted by sticking it to a wall using the included adhesive strip(s).

The doorbell is not water nor weatherproof, and must be installed in a sheltered location. Exposure to rain, moisture or direct sunlight will adversely affect the performance and durability of the doorbell.

  • Find the area you want to mount the doorbell. Flat, smooth surfaces are ideal. Make sure they are clean and dry before mounting.
  • Peel off the covering of the adhesive strip, and attach the doorbell to the wall in the location you want.

Mounting the Chime (speaker unit)

There is no requirement to mount the chime unit. You may find it more convenient to place it on a shelf or table. One of the benefits of a battery operated wireless doorbell is that if you have a large house, you can take the receiver with you. No more missing visitors because you were all the way at the back of the house or by the pool!

If you would like to mount the device, you simply need to attach a screw to a wall. Depending on the surface, you may need to drill guide holes and/or use masonry plugs or dry wall anchors.

Do not insert the screw all the way. Leave about 7mm / 1/4" protruding from the wall. Then place the unit onto the screw, ensuring the heads of the screw passes through the mounting hole on the rear of the unit. You can then shift the unit downwards to ensure it sits on the screw firmly.

!

WARNING: When fitting the screws into the wall, make sure you are not inserting them anywhere near electrical wires, including wires that may be behind the wall. If you are unsure at all, please get a professional to check first and install the screws for you.

Troubleshooting

The chime does not work...

  • Check that the units are within 50 meters range of each other. Try placing the chime unit in another location nearer to the doorbell.
  • Check that batteries are fitted correctly with matching polarity.
  • Batteries could be flat and need to be replaced. Only use alkaline batteries.
