Frequently Asked Questions - HDM31A Schwaiger

How do I connect the HDM31A HDMI switcher?
Connect your HDMI source devices (e.g., DVD player, PS3) to the Input ports on the front panel using HDMI cables. Then connect an HDMI cable from the Output port to your TV or display. Plug in the power adapter (5V DC) if required, or rely on bus power. The switcher will automatically select the active source when powered on.
What is the intelligent switching function?
The intelligent switching function automatically selects the active HDMI source. When multiple sources are connected, the switcher prioritizes the one that is powered on. If a source is turned off or unplugged, it switches to the next available powered-on source in the order Input 1 > Input 2 > Input 3. Note that sources on standby should be fully powered off for this to work.
Why is there no display on my TV?
First, ensure your TV is turned on and set to the correct HDMI input. Check that all HDMI cables are securely connected. Refer to the connection diagram in the manual. If the problem persists, try turning off the HDMI source and the switcher, then power them on again. Also verify that your source device is outputting a supported resolution (up to 1080p).
Why is there no sound from the display?
Check the volume settings on your display device. Turn off the HDMI source (e.g., DVD player, PS3) and the switcher, then power them on again. If the issue continues, some non-ATC certified HDMI devices may have audio issues. Try connecting the source directly to the display to isolate the problem.
The remote control doesn't work. What should I do?
Replace the battery in the remote control. Make sure there are no obstacles between the remote and the IR receiver. If an IR extender is connected, ensure it is properly plugged into the switcher. If the problem persists, the remote may be faulty; contact your distributor for support.
Can I use the HDM31A with DVI devices?
Yes, but only if the DVI device is HDCP compliant. Non-HDCP compliant DVI devices will not work with HDCP-encoded signals. Additionally, you may need a DVI-to-HDMI adapter or cable.
What video resolutions does the HDM31A support?
It supports interlaced resolutions 480i, 576i, 1080i, and progressive resolutions 480p, 576p, 720p, and 1080p. The maximum single-link range is 1920x1080 pixels.
Does the HDM31A require an external power adapter?
The switcher can be powered via the HDMI bus (from the source or display) or via an external 5V DC adapter (optional). Some setups may require the external adapter for stable operation, especially when using long cables or multiple sources.
How do I clean and maintain the HDMI switcher?
Unplug the device before cleaning. Use a dry, soft cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use any liquids or cleaning agents. Avoid exposing the unit to moisture, dust, or extreme temperatures.
Where can I get support or spare parts for the HDM31A?
The device has no user-serviceable parts. Do not open the case. For repairs or technical support, contact your distributor or Schwaiger customer service. Retain the original packaging if you need to return the unit.
