How do I set the cooking time on the Exquisit MW850-070?

No, metal containers and aluminum foil are not suitable for microwave mode as they can cause sparks. However, small pieces of aluminum foil may be used to shield delicate parts during grilling, but ensure they do not touch the cavity walls.

How do I defrost food in this microwave?

Select the Defrost power level (36% MW) and set the time according to the food weight. For best results, turn or stir the food several times during defrosting.

What should I do if the microwave does not start?

Removing transport protection

The appliance and some of the interior parts are secured for transport.

• Remove all adhesive tape.
• Remove residues of adhesive with white spirits.
• Remove all adhesive tapes and packaging parts from the inside of the appliance.

12.1 Setting up the appliance

Set up in the appliance in a well-ventilated, dry room. The ambient temperature has an influence on the electricity consumption and the proper function of the appliance.

• Place the appliance on a flat, stable and heat-resistant surface that can support the weight of the appliance.
• Do not operate the appliance in the vicinity of heat sources, easily flammable substances or at locations with high humidity.
• Set up the appliance at a height of at least 85 cm.

• Ensure that the ventilation slots in the top, sides and rear are not blocked by other objects. Keep the following distances:

• top 30 cm

• Back wall 10 cm

- Never use the appliance without the turntable, roller ring or carrier, or with a damaged mains supply cable.

- The Plug socket for the appliance plug must be easily accessible in order to be able to disconnect the appliance from the mains power supply in the event of an emergency.

Basic cleaning

Before using the appliance for the first time, clean the appliance and accessories thoroughly with warm water and a little detergent and wipe dry. For further information, see Cleaning and Maintenance.

Heating up for the first time

Heating up for the first time prepares the new appliance for use. Odour and smoke development occurring during heating up for the first time are normal and no cause for concern.

Ensure good ventilation of the room so that odours and smoke can be dispelled quickly. Depending on the situation, possibly open windows or switch on the ventilation. During the heating-up process, the heat eliminates any possible production residues.

The appliance is ready for operation after completion of the heating process, cleaning and use of the accessories.

Suitable

Cookware of heat-resistant glass, porcelain, stoneware, ceramics, glass ceramics or heat-resistant plastic is suitable for use in the appliance, but attention must be paid to the use of the oven (microwave, grill, convection).

Limited suitability

• Aluminium foil can be used in small pieces for covering delicate parts of food, e.g. when defrosting poultry. Take care that the aluminium foil does not come into contact with the inner walls of the cooking chamber.
• Open, shallow metal vessels, such as aluminium trays, can be used for heating ready-made meals.

Not suitable

• Do not use cookware with gold or silver decoration. This can cause sparks and the decoration could be destroyed.
• Lead crystal glass can burst and should therefore not be used.
• Do not use metal vessels. This can cause sparks. Containers with metal handles, metal wires or metal fittings are generally not suitable for use.
• Remove wire clips, etc. from containers before placing them into the appliance.
• Wooden vessels or melamine resin containers are not suitable.
• Do not use containers with narrow openings (e.g. bottles).
• Do not use meat thermometers that are not expressly approved by the manufacturer as suitable for use in microwave ovens.

To be able to heat the food in the microwave oven, it must be ensured that the microwaves can penetrate the food and that the cookware does not reflect or absorb them. The cookware and accessories should therefore be selected carefully.

In addition to the material, the shape of the container must also be considered. Round, oval shapes produce an even cooking result. Square or rectangular containers can overcook food in the corners, as more energy is absorbed in these places. Flat containers give the best cooking results.

Porcelain and ceramic utensils are ideal for the microwave. Most types of glass are also suitable.

Operation

Plastic and paper can be used if it can withstand the temperature of the warmed food. Only use heat-resistant polypropylene and polyamide (min. 120°C) for cooking.

Suitability test for cookware

Place the empty vessel and a glass of water into the cooking chamber. The water is required so that the appliance does not operate empty or with only the empty vessel. Start the appliance at the highest power level for 60 seconds. If the cookware becomes hot during this process, it is not suitable for use in microwave ovens. A suitable vessel only becomes hand-warm.

When buying tableware, pay attention to this:

• Crockery and accessories must be suitable for microwave ovens.
• That the food, containers or lids do not come into direct contact with the inner wall. This could lead to discolouration.

13 Operation

The appliance has a modern electronic control system for setting the parameters so that they can be better adapted to the needs during cooking.

Do not allow food to boil over.
➢ Neither use paper, plastic nor other flammable material for cooking.
Remove all clips from plastic bags.
➢ Do not open the appliance door during operation.
➢ Place food only into the glass plate.
➢ Never put the appliance into operation when it is empty.

WARNING

EXPLOSION HAZARD!

• On no account should liquids or other foods be heated in airtight sealed containers.
• Do not heat up hard-boiled eggs still in their shell in a microwave oven as they could explode.
• When heating beverages in a microwave oven, liquid can disperse explosively into the cooking chamber on reaching the boiling point. Remove containers from the appliance with the greatest care.
• When heating liquids, always place a spoon in the vessel to prevent boiling retardation.

The contents of baby bottles and jars with baby food must always be poured into other vessels and stirred after heating. Before eating, check the temperature to avoid severe burns.

• Do not heat oil for frying in this appliance.
• Pierce the skin of potatoes, apples and other fruit and vegetables with a fork before heating.

Operate

1. Open the microwave door.
2. Place food on a dish suitable for the appliance.
3. Place the dishes on the turntable. Always cover dishes. As a substitute for a suitable lid for your jar, use a plate or microwave special foil.
4. Set the desired power with the rotary knob "Power".
5. Set the desired time with the rotary knob "Time".
6. Stir or turn dishes 2-3 times in between.
7. After the time has elapsed, a signal sounds. Open the door and remove the food from the appliance.
8. Let the dishes rest for 2-5 minutes after heating / cooking to equalise the temperature.

16 Cleaning and maintenance

CAUTION

RISK OF SCALDING!

When cleaning, select the water temperature so that there is no risk of scalding!

• Remove the mains plug from the plug socket before cleaning.
• Clean the cooking chamber at regular intervals.
• Wipe residues of food off the walls of the cooking chamber using a damp cloth.
• Use only mild detergents to remove more stubborn soiling.
• The use of strong cleaning agents is not recommended.

ATTENTION

APPLIANCE DAMAGE!

Do not use oven spray or aggressive oven cleaners. Scrubbing pads, rough sponges and scouring pads are not suitable. These products scratch the surface.

Dry the inner surface thoroughly after cleaning.

• Wipe the housing of the appliance with a damp cloth. Ensure that no water gets into the appliance through the ventilation openings, as otherwise the appliance could be damaged.
• Clean the control panel with a damp cloth. Do not use aggressive cleaning and care agents, even from spray cans. Leave the appliance door open during cleaning so that it does not start inadvertently.
• During operation, condensation may form on the viewing window of the appliance due to evaporation of moisture inside and outside and may drip under the door. This is a normal occurrence and can occur more frequently at low room temperatures and with high humidity. It does not impair the safety of the appliance. After operation, wipe up the condensation with a soft cloth.
• The glass turntable can be cleaned using normal household cleaning agents.
• Clean the roller ring and the bottom of the cooking chamber at regular intervals. Clean with a soft cloth and mild detergent, then rub dry. The roller ring can be cleaned in a dishwasher. Install roller ring and rotary table again correctly after cleaning.

Do not use steam cleaners for cleaning.
