What is the default administrator password and how do I change it?
The default administrator password is 666666. To change it, open the ICY BOX FPTool, click on 'Password', enter the old password, then your new password twice. It is recommended to use a combination of upper/lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
How many fingerprints can I store?
You can store up to 8 different fingerprints. To add a fingerprint, click the plus icon in the FPTool, then touch the sensor repeatedly until 100% scanned. You can name each fingerprint.
Can I use the enclosure without fingerprint unlocking?
Yes. You can unlock the drive using the administrator password via the FPTool. Click 'Disk' then 'Unlock the Disk' and enter the password.
What happens if I forget my administrator password?
If you forget the administrator password, you can reset the enclosure to factory defaults via the FPTool (Disk > Restore to Default). Warning: This will erase all data on the drive.
Does the enclosure support USB 2.0?
Yes, it is backward compatible with USB 2.0. However, data transfer speed will be limited to a maximum of 480 Mbit/s (USB 2.0) instead of 5 Gbit/s (USB 3.0).
How do I initialize a new hard drive in Windows?
After unlocking the drive, open Disk Management. Right-click on the unallocated drive (left side) and select 'Initialize Disk'. Choose GPT partition style. Then right-click the unallocated space (right side) and create a 'New Simple Volume'.
Why is the red LED blinking?
The red LED blinks when there is an incorrect fingerprint scan or operation error. Ensure your finger is clean and placed correctly on the sensor. If using password, verify you entered it correctly.
Can I use a 15mm thick hard drive?
No, the enclosure supports only 2.5-inch drives with a height of up to 9.5 mm. Thicker drives will not fit.
