Frequently Asked Questions - UA100 EarFun

Is the EarFun UA100 compatible with Mac or Linux?
Yes, for operating systems other than Windows, no driver installation is required. It works plug-and-play.
Do I need a driver for Windows?
Yes, to enable high-resolution audio playback (96kHz and DSD) on Windows, you must install the EarFun USB Audio Drivers from the official website.
How do I set up foobar2000 for high-resolution audio?
Install foobar2000, then add the ASIO Output plugin and the Super Audio CD Decoder (DSD) plugin. In Preferences, select output device as ASIO: EarFun UA100 and set SACD output type to DSD.
Why is my PC not showing the UA100 in the output device list?
Ensure the EarFun USB Audio Drivers are properly installed. Also, the ASIO Output plugin must be installed and configured in foobar2000.
Can I use the UA100 without foobar2000?
Yes, it will work as a standard USB audio device, but for high-resolution audio (above 96kHz) and DSD, foobar2000 with the necessary plugins is required.
What is the LED indicator for?
The LED light changes to indicate playback status, especially when playing high-resolution or DSD audio.
Does the UA100 support 32-bit audio?
The manual specifies support up to 96kHz sample rate; 32-bit depth may be supported, but official specs are not listed. It is primarily designed for high-resolution stereo audio.
Is the UA100 a USB hub or an audio interface?
It is a USB audio hub that functions as an external sound card for high-resolution audio playback, not a multi-port USB hub.
How do I clean the UA100?
Use a soft, dry cloth. Avoid liquids and abrasive cleaners. Unplug before cleaning.
Where can I find the latest driver?
Visit the official EarFun website at www.myearfun.com and navigate to the support/download section for the UA100.

  • Download the Windows driver program "EarFun USB Audio Drivers_setup_V1.0.exe" on EarFun website www.myearfun.com.
  • Unzip and install the Drivers program.

Note: Only after successfully installing the driver program can the foobar2000 Player play the 96KHz and DSD High-Resolution Audio.

  • Download and install foobar2000 Player Installer package file from the link: www.foobar2000.org/download. Please ensure to choose the correct program version (64-bit or 32-bit) based on your Windows system.
  • Download and install the player plugin "ASIO Output" from the link: www.foobar2000.org/components/view/foo_out_asio. Without the "ASIO Output" plugin, High Resolution Audio will not be output and played.
  • Download and install the decoder plugin “Super Audio CD Decoder (DSD)” from the link: https://sourceforge.net/projects/sacddecoder/files/foo_input_sacd/. Without the “foo_input_sacd” plugin, the DSD Audio file will not be decoded and played in foobar2000 Player.

3. Setup the Player.

• After installing the foobar2000 Player and ASIO, DSD plugins, launch the Player.
- Click on File > Preferences > Playback > Output in the Player program.
- Select ASIO: EarFun UA100 as Device Output and click OK to complete and play the lossless output of High Resolution Audio above 96KHz. (Please note that without the UA100 Drivers program and the Player-related ASIO plugins properly set up, the PC won't show it in the Output Device list.)
