Frequently Asked Questions - Compact 200 ARRI

How do I replace the lamp in the ARRI Compact 200?
Disconnect the lamphead from the ballast and allow the lamp to cool. Open the lens door using the release lock (13). Turn the lamp lock lever (17) anticlockwise and open the lamp support (16). Remove the old lamp by the socket, insert the new lamp without touching the glass bulb, close the support, and lock the lever. Close the lens door securely.
What are the safety precautions for using this luminaire?
Always disconnect power before lamp replacement. Never operate without a lamp, lens, or reflector. Keep a minimum distance of 1.5 m from flammable objects. Do not cover vent slots. Use a safety chain when suspended. Do not bridge the safety switch (18).
Can I use the Compact 200 without a lens?
No, operating without a lens and/or reflector is prohibited due to risk of UV radiation and overheating. Always ensure the lens is in place and undamaged.
How do I install accessories like barndoors or filters?
Push the hinge pin (1a) to open the top latch. Insert the accessory into the front slot (1b) for barndoors/snoots, or rear slot (1c) for filters. Lower the top latch until it locks automatically.
What type of lamp does the Compact 200 use?
The fixture accepts single-ended lamps of the correct wattage. The exact lamp type depends on the configuration (e.g., HMI). Always match the lamp power to the luminaire rating (200 W). Use only ARRI-approved lamps.
How do I clean the reflector and Fresnel lens?
Use a common glass cleaning agent and a soft cloth. Gently clean the reflector and lens, then polish. Ensure no deformation or damage to the reflector. Keep electrical contacts clean and dry.
What is the minimum distance to avoid harm to eyes and skin?
Do not operate closer than 1.5 m (150 cm) to people or flammable objects. Direct exposure to the beam can be harmful to eyes and skin.
Can I use the luminaire with the barndoors fully closed?
No, operating with closed barndoors risks fire or damage. Always keep barndoors open when the lamp is on.
How do I adjust the stirrup to the center of mass?
Loosen the screws (20a) on both sides of the stirrup mounting bracket. Position the bracket to the center of mass of the luminaire, then retighten the screws.
Where can I get service or repairs for the Compact 200?
Contact ARRI service locations in Germany, USA, Canada, UK, or Italy. Refer to the manual for addresses and phone numbers. Use only original spare parts.
