SAWING

Secure and fasten the workpiece to be sawn with suitable screw clamps or other suitable fasteners and stops, on a stable and non-slip work surface. Never hold the workpiece with your hand and / or against your body! There is a risk that you will not be able to control the tool and of serious damage to health, which can result in serious injury or even death! Place the saw blade lightly against the workpiece to be cut, switch on the saw motor and let it reach maximum speed before applying pressure. Whenever possible, the saw shoe must be held firmly against the material to be cut. This prevents the saw from jumping or vibrating and minimises blade breakage. All cuts that exert pressure on the sheet, such as angles or curved cuts, increase the potential for vibration, kickback and sheet breakage.

PIERCING - WOOD ONLY

The first step in piercing is to measure the area to be cut and clearly mark it with a pencil, chalk or scriber. Use the appropriate blade for the application. The saw should be longer than 89 mm (3 12 ") and project beyond the shoe and the thickness of the workpiece during the cut. Insert the blade into the blade clamp.

Next, tilt the saw backwards until the rear edge of the shoe rests on the work surface and the blade releases the work surface (position 1, Fig. M). Now switch on the motor and let the HAZET cordless reciprocating saw reach maximum speed. Hold the saw with both hands and start a slow, deliberate upward movement with the saw handle, keeping the bottom of the shoe firmly in contact with the workpiece (Position 2, Fig. M). The saw blade starts advancing into the material. Always make sure that the saw blade is guided completely through the material before you continue with the piercing.

METAL CUTTING

The HAZET cordless reciprocating saw has different metal cutting capacities depending on the type of saw blade used and the metal to be cut. Use a finer blade for ferrous metals and a coarser blade for non-ferrous materials. For thin sheets it is best to clamp wood on both sides of the sheet. This ensures a clean cut without excessive vibration or tearing of the metal. Always remember not to cut the blade by force, as this will shorten the life of the blade and cause expensive blade breakage (Fig. N).

TEMPERATURE CUT-OFF

When used as intended, the reciprocating saw cannot be overloaded. However, continuous operation under full load for a longer period of time will cause the battery to overheat. If the permissible battery temperature range is exceeded, the saw will automatically stop operation and will not start again until it has cooled down to a safe level.

LOW VOLTAGE CUT-OFF

The battery pack used in this tool is equipped with a low voltage cut-off in the circuit. The low voltage cut-off is activated when the voltage drops below a preset value.

NOTE!

- In areas where visibility of the saw blade is restricted, use the edge of the saw shoe as a guide. The lines for a particular cut should extend beyond the edge of the cut to be made.

Hazet 9234-010 - NOTE! - 1

NOTE!

- When cutting metals before the saw cut, we generally recommend applying a thin film of oil or other lubricant along the line in front of the saw cut to make operation easier and prolong the life of the saw blade.

NOTE!

- The HAZET cordless reciprocating saw has a temperature cut-off and is only started again when the battery pack has cooled down.

- The battery must NOT be forcibly cooled. Do not place in the refrigerator or freezer. To allow the HAZET cordless reciprocating saw to cool down again, remove the battery and place the HAZET cordless reciprocating saw in a safe storage area at room temperature. Keep out of direct sunlight.

GENERAL MAINTENANCE

Avoid the use of solvents when cleaning plastic parts. Most plastics are susceptible to damage from various types of commercial solvents and can be damaged by their use. Use clean cleaning cloths to remove dirt, dust, oil, grease, etc.

Batteries

The battery pack is equipped with rechargeable lithium-ion batteries. The duration of use of each charge depends on the type of work carried out. The batteries in this tool have been designed for maximum trouble-free life. Like all batteries, they wear out over time. Do not disassemble the battery pack or attempt to replace the batteries. To attain the longest possible battery life, read and understand the instructions for use.

MAINTENANCE AND CARE

  • Disconnect the battery from the tool before performing any maintenance or repair work.
  • Check the saw blades and the HAZET cordless reciprocating saw regularly. Worn or damaged tools can slip off, reduce power and thus damage the motor.

MOTOR MAINTENANCE

- The motor unit winding/coil is the most important part of the power tool. Handle the tool with care to ensure that the winding/coil is not damaged or made wet by water or oil.

CARE

- The HAZET cordless reciprocating saw should be regularly treated with a commercial solvent-free cleaning agent without grinding additives.
