Frequently Asked Questions - KS 42456-61/2 GRAM

How do I set the temperature on my Gram KS 42456-61/2 fridge?
Use the thermostat dial inside the fridge compartment. Turn it clockwise to lower the temperature (colder) and counterclockwise to raise it. The recommended setting is medium (3-4). For the freezer, adjust similarly if there is a separate dial.
Why is my fridge not cooling properly?
Check if the power cord is plugged in and the thermostat is set correctly. Ensure the door is closed properly and the door gasket is clean. Also, check if the condenser coils at the back are dusty. Defrost the freezer if ice build-up is excessive. If the problem persists, contact service.
How do I defrost the freezer?
When ice build-up reaches about 3-5 mm, turn off the appliance and remove all food. Leave the door open and place towels to catch water. Do not use sharp objects to remove ice. Once defrosted, clean and dry the interior before turning it back on.
How do I clean the fridge?
Unplug the appliance. Remove all food and shelves. Wash the interior with a mild detergent and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Clean the door gasket with soapy water. Avoid harsh chemicals or abrasive pads.
Why is my fridge making unusual noises?
Normal operating sounds include the compressor hum, refrigerant flow, and occasional clicks. Louder sounds may indicate the fridge is not level, so adjust the feet. Vibrations can be reduced by ensuring items inside are stable and not touching the walls.
Can I reverse the door opening direction?
Yes, the door is reversible. You will need to remove the hinges, door, and handle, then reattach them on the opposite side. Refer to the manual for detailed instructions. The necessary parts are usually included.
What is the recommended temperature for the fridge and freezer?
For the fridge compartment, the ideal temperature is between 3°C and 5°C. The freezer should be set between -18°C and -20°C to keep food frozen safely.
How can I save energy with my refrigerator?
Keep the appliance away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Ensure good ventilation around the back. Allow hot food to cool before placing inside. Do not keep the door open for long. Defrost regularly and clean the condenser coils annually.
What should I do if the interior light does not work?
The light is an LED that is not user-replaceable. If it fails, contact authorized service for replacement. In the meantime, the appliance will still cool but you may need additional lighting.
How do I transport the fridge?
Empty and defrost the appliance completely. Secure the doors with tape and keep the appliance upright during transport. If it must be tilted, tilt it no more than 45 degrees. After transport, let it stand upright for 2-3 hours before plugging in.
