Frequently Asked Questions - EdgeRouter Pro ERPro-8 Ubiquiti Networks

How do I access the EdgeOS configuration interface for the first time?
Connect an Ethernet cable from your computer to the eth0 port on the router. Set your computer's Ethernet adapter to a static IP address on the 192.168.1.x subnet. Open a web browser and go to https://192.168.1.1. Log in with username ubnt and password ubnt, accept the license agreement, and click Login.
How do I reset the EdgeRouter Pro to factory defaults?
There are two methods: Runtime reset (recommended) - press and hold the Reset button for about 10 seconds until the right LED on port eth7 flashes and then becomes solid, then the router reboots. Power-on reset - disconnect power, press and hold Reset, connect power, wait until the LED stops flashing, then release.
What are the networking interfaces available on the ERPro-8?
The router has six 10/100/1000 RJ45 ports (eth0-eth5) and two combo ports (eth6 and eth7) that support either RJ45 or SFP (100 Mbps or Gigabit). When an SFP module is inserted, the corresponding RJ45 port is deactivated.
What kind of SFP modules are compatible?
The EdgeRouter Pro supports 100 Mbps or Gigabit fiber SFP modules. For a list of compatible modules, visit the Ubiquiti community at community.ubnt.com/edgemax.
What are the power requirements for the EdgeRouter Pro?
The router requires a power source of 110-240V AC and uses an internal AC/DC adapter rated at 24 V, 2.5 A (60 W). Maximum power consumption is 40 W.
Can the EdgeRouter Pro be mounted in a rack?
Yes, it is 1U rackmountable for a standard 19-inch rack. Use the included mounting screws and cage nuts (for square-hole racks). Ensure at least 20 mm clearance near ventilation holes.
What is the meaning of the front panel LEDs?
For RJ45 ports: Amber indicates 10/100 Mbps link, Green indicates 1000 Mbps link, flashing indicates activity. SFP ports use same color coding. The Power LED is white when powered on.
What cabling is required for installation?
Use Category 5 (or above) UTP cabling for indoor use, and shielded Category 5 (or above) cabling for outdoor installations. All Ethernet runs must be CAT5 or better.
What is the warranty period for the EdgeRouter Pro?
Ubiquiti Networks provides a one-year limited warranty from the date of shipment against defects in material and workmanship under normal use. The warranty does not cover modifications, misuse, or damage from third-party firmware.
Where can I find more detailed documentation and support?
Visit the Ubiquiti support site at support.ubnt.com, the community forum at community.ubnt.com, or download resources from downloads.ubnt.com. The EdgeOS User Guide is available at documentation.ubnt.com/edgemax.
