Frequently Asked Questions - 136090010 Eta

What is the ideal temperature setting for my Eta freezer?
The recommended temperature for freezing is -18°C. Adjust the dial accordingly. For optimal performance, keep the freezer at this temperature.
How often should I defrost the freezer?
Defrost when frost reaches 5-10 mm thickness. Manual defrosting is required. Unplug the unit, remove food, and let ice melt naturally. Do not use sharp tools.
What does the energy class F mean?
Energy class F indicates a standard efficiency level. Annual consumption is around 220 kWh. To save energy, keep the freezer full and avoid frequent door openings.
Is the door reversible?
Yes, the door can be reversed to open from the left or right. Refer to the manual for step-by-step instructions on changing the door swing.
Why is my freezer making unusual noises?
Normal operating sounds include humming from the compressor, clicking from the thermostat, and gurgling from refrigerant. If noise is excessive, check leveling and ensure it‘s not touching walls.
How do I clean the freezer?
Unplug and remove food. Wash interior with mild detergent and warm water. Rinse and dry thoroughly. Clean exterior with a damp cloth. Avoid abrasive cleaners.
Can I store frozen food during a power outage?
The freezer can keep food frozen for up to 12 hours if unopened. Keep the door closed. After power returns, check food condition and discard any thawed items.
What is the freezing capacity?
The maximum amount of fresh food that can be frozen in 24 hours is 10 kg. Do not exceed this limit to maintain temperature.
Where can I find spare parts?
Spare parts are available for 7 years after purchase. Contact Eta customer service or authorized dealers. Common parts include shelves and thermostat.
How do I adjust the feet for leveling?
Turn the adjustable feet clockwise to raise or counterclockwise to lower the freezer. Use a spirit level to ensure stability. This reduces vibration and noise.

Why does my Eta 136090010 freezer make an intermittent whistling noise that returns after turning off and on?
Frequently Asked Questions - 28/05/2026
Response Notice-Facile

Whistling noises in a freezer are generally normal and due to the operation of the cooling system. Here are the most likely causes:

Common causes of whistling

  • Refrigerant circulation: The noise you hear is often the refrigerant circulating in the pipes of the refrigeration circuit. This is a normal phenomenon that can intensify depending on the defrost cycle or internal temperature variations.
  • Compressor starting: After turning off and on, the compressor restarts and may produce a whistling sound when it starts up, especially if the temperature has warmed up. Once the cycle stabilizes, the noise may decrease.
  • Condenser fan: The freezer may be equipped with a fan to cool the condenser. An intermittent whistling may indicate that the fan activates in cycles according to cooling needs.

When to worry?

The whistling is not a problem as long as:

  • The appliance cools properly and maintains the temperature.
  • The noise is not accompanied by abnormal vibrations or bad odors.
  • The freezer has not stopped working.

If the whistling is accompanied by a loss of cooling, contact the manufacturer or a technician.
