Can I use a DA lens on a PENTAX film SLR?

No, SMC PENTAX-DA lenses are designed exclusively for PENTAX digital SLR cameras. They are not compatible with film SLRs due to their image circle optimized for digital sensors and the lack of an aperture ring.

How do I clean my DA lens?

Use a soft, dry cloth. Never use solvents like alcohol, thinner, or gasoline. For fingerprints, a microfiber cloth is recommended. Store the lens in a dry, well-ventilated place, preferably with a desiccant.

What does SDM mean in the lens name?

SDM stands for Supersonic Direct-drive Motor, an integrated ultrasonic motor that enables quiet and fast autofocus. Lenses with SDM (such as DA*) use this motor when mounted on a compatible body.

Why does my built-in flash cause vignetting with some DA lenses?

Vignetting can occur when the focusing distance is less than 0.7 m or when the focal length is too short. Some DA lenses, especially wide-angles, may partially block the flash light. Check the compatibility table in the manual to verify.

How do I use the Quick-Shift focus system?

After autofocusing (by holding the shutter button halfway or pressing the AF button), turn the focusing ring to fine-tune sharpness. This system is available on most DA lenses, except the DA 18-250mm.
