Information for these operating instructions
These operating instructions are a component of the Laser Spirit Level PLW 3 A1 (hereafter designated as the appliance) and they provide you with important information about the intended use, set up and operation of the appliance.
The operating instructions must be constantly kept available close to the appliance. They are to be read and applied by everyone assigned to operate the appliance. Keep these operating instructions and hand them over with the appliance to any future owners.

Intended use
This Laser Spirit Level is intended for the measurement of lengths and for the horizontal and vertical alignment of objects, e.g. pictures. This appliance is suitable only for indoor use and is intended only for domestic applications. The appliance is not meant for commercial use. No liability will be accepted for damage resulting from incorrect or improper usage, the application of force or unauthorised modifications. Claims of any kind resulting from damage caused by improper use, incompetent
repairs, unauthorized modifications or the use of non-approved spare parts will not be acknowledged.

Before use check the appliance for visible external damage. Do not take into operation an appliance that is damaged or has been dropped.
This appliance is not intended for use by individuals (including children) with restricted physical, physiological or intellectual abilities or deficiencies in experience and/or knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or receive from this person instruction in how the appliance is to be used.
Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the ■ appliance.
Do not expose the appliance to extreme temperatures, severe vibrations, high mechanical loads, direct sunlight or high humidity. If you do, the appliance could be damaged.
Never open the appliance housing. Personal injury and damage to the appliance could be the result.
Repairs should only be carried out by authorized specialist companies or by the Customer Service department.
Do not allow the measuring tape to rewind itself without control.
Danger from laser radiation


WARNING

Risk of injury from laser beams! The laser beam can cause serious eye damage.
This appliance contains a Class 2 laser.
NEVER ▶ look directly into the laser beam.
▶ NEVER direct the laser beam at other people or animals.
▶ NEVER direct the laser beam at surfaces or objects that can reflect light.
Caution: If operating and adjustment facilities or procedures other than those specified here are employed, they may result in hazardous radiation exposure.
▶ ALWAYS switch the laser beam off whenever the appliance is not in use.

Interaction with batteries
WARNING
Risks from improper use!
For safe handling of batteries observe the following safety instructions:
Do not throw batteries into a fire.
Never short-circuit batteries.
Do not attempt to recharge batteries.
Regularly check the condition of the batteries. Leaking battery acid can cause permanent damage to the appliance. Special caution should be shown when handling damaged or leaking batteries. Danger from acid burns! Wear protective gloves.
Store batteries in a place inaccessible to children. When swallowed seek immediate medical attention.
Do not use new and depleted batteries together.
If you do not intend to use the appliance for an extended period, remove the batteries.

Inserting/exchanging batteries
Loosen the screw of the battery compartment cover with a crosshead screw-driver and remove the battery compartment cover.
Insert the 2 Type AAA/Micro batteries resp. replace the used batteries with new ones.
Pay heed to the correct polarity, as shown in the battery compartment 7.
Replace the battery compartment cover and retighten the screw.
Using the measuring tape
WARNING
The measuring tape retracts automatically.
Do not allow the measuring tape 1 to rewind itself without control, instead, guide it back by hand. There is also a risk of personal injury!
NOTICE
With the measuring tape 📋 you can read off measurements of length in the metric system or in the Anglo/American system. The upper scale shows lengths in feet and inches, the lower scale in meters and centimeters.
Slide the restrainer 2 to the position UNLOCK.
Pull the measuring tape ⚙ out to the required length.
Secure the measuring tape ⚙, by sliding the restrainer 2 to the position LOCK.
When you roll the measuring tape ● back up or wish to adjust it to a new length, hold the end firmly and slide the restrainer 2 to the position UNLOCK.
Now allow the measuring tape 🔑 to roll back slowly, without releasing it.

Using the Laser Pointer
Aligning the laser beam horizontally
Hold the appliance with the narrow side to the wall, so that the spirit levels ③ and ④ are facing forward.
Place the On/Off switch⑤ at the position I to switch the laser on. A laser beam cross appears.
Align the Laser Spirit Level such that the air bubble in the spirit level ④ lies exactly in the middle of the markings.
Place the On/Off switch 5 at the position 0 to switch the laser off.
Aligning the laser beam vertically
Hold the appliance with the narrow side to the wall, so that the spirit levels ③ and ④ are facing forward.
Place the On/Off switch 5 at the position I to switch the laser on. A laser beam cross appears.
Align the Laser Spirit Level such that the air bubble in the spirit level ③ lies exactly in the middle of the markings.
Place the On/Off switch 5 at the position 0 to switch the laser off.
Cleaning and Care
With the exception of battery exchanges this appliance is maintenance-free.
IMPORTANT
To avoid damage to the appliance, ensure that moisture cannot penetrate it during cleaning.
Do not use aggressive detergents or abrasive materials.
These could damage the upper surfaces.
Clean the outer surfaces with a soft and lint-free cloth.
Clean the laser exit openings ⑥ with a soft brush.
Store the Laser Spirit Level in a dry and, if possible, dust-free environment.
Disposal

Disposal of the appliance

Do not dispose of the appliance in your normal domestic waste. This product is subject to the European Directive 2002/96/EC-WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment).
Dispose of the appliance through an approved disposal centre or at your community waste facility. Observe the currently applicable regulations. In case of doubt, consult your local disposal facility.
Disposing of the batteries
Do not dispose of the batteries with household waste. All consumers are statutorily obliged to dispose of batteries at a collection site in their community/city district or at a retail store. This obligation is intended to ensure that batteries are disposed of in an environmentally safe manner. Only hand in batteries/cells that are fully discharged.

Dispose of the packaging materials in an environmentally responsible manner.

Warranty
You receive a 3-year warranty for this appliance as of the purchase date. This appliance has been manufactured with care and meticulously examined before delivery.
Please retain your receipt as proof of purchase. In the case of a warranty claim, please make contact by telephone with our service department. Only in this way can a post-free despatch for your goods be assured.
NOTICE
The warranty covers only claims for material and manufacturing defects, not for transport damages, wearing parts or for damage to fragile components, e.g. switches and batteries.
This product is for domestic use only and is not intended for commercial applications. In the event of misuse and improper handling, use of force and interference not carried out by our authorized service branch, the warranty will become void..
Your statutory rights are not restricted in any way by this warranty.
The warranty period is not extended by repairs made under the warranty.
This applies also to replaced and repaired parts.
Damages or defects discovered after purchase are to be reported directly after unpacking, at the latest by two days after the purchase date.
Repairs carried out after the lapse of the warranty period are subject to charge.
