Frequently Asked Questions - OPTIO WPI PENTAX

Can I use the camera underwater?

Yes, the Optio WPI is waterproof according to JIS Class 8 (IP58). It can be used underwater up to 1.5 meters for a maximum of 30 minutes. Make sure to close the battery/card compartment properly and do not open the cover underwater.

What is the battery life?

With a fully charged D-LI8 battery, you can take approximately 200 photos (according to CIPA standard). In playback mode, battery life is about 240 minutes, and about 80 minutes for video recording. Performance may vary depending on usage conditions.

How to clean the camera after use at the seaside?

After use in a salty environment, turn off the camera, make sure the battery/card compartment is properly closed, then rinse it under running water or immerse it in a bowl of clean water for a few minutes. Wipe it with a dry cloth. Do not use chemicals such as alcohol or soap.

What types of memory cards are compatible?

The camera accepts SD memory cards (Secure Digital). It is not compatible with SDHC, SDXC or other formats. The maximum supported capacity is 2 GB.

How to reset to default settings?

In the [Settings] menu, select Reset. This will restore factory settings, except for date, time, language, and world time settings.

Can I use the camera as a webcam?

No, the Optio WPI is not designed to be used as a webcam. It does not offer a live video connection mode to a computer.

What is the maximum photo resolution?

The maximum resolution is 2816 x 2112 pixels, approximately 6 megapixels. You can choose from several sizes in the Recorded Pixels menu.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Use the USB cable provided to connect the camera to the computer. Set the USB connection mode to PC in the [Settings] menu. The computer will recognize the camera as a removable drive.

Does the camera have a flash?

Yes, it has a built-in flash with several modes: auto, forced, off, red-eye reduction, and slow sync. The range is approximately 0.2 to 3.1 m at wide angle and 0.5 to 2.5 m at telephoto.

What to do if the camera does not turn on?

First, check that the battery is charged and properly inserted. If the problem persists, remove the battery and memory card, wait a few minutes, then reinsert them. If the camera still does not turn on, contact an authorized PENTAX repair center.
