WARNING - To reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, or serious personal injury:

Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children unless they are older than 8 and supervised.

■ Always use the product on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface.

Before using the appliance for the fi rst time

NOTE: During the initial uses of this product, it may produce some smoke. This is normal and will subside with further use.

Before using this appliance for the first time, the hotplates should be cleaned with a moist cloth.

Grease the hotplates lightly with food oil before first time use.

Usage

CAUTION: Do not use this appliance to cook or defrost frozen food. All food must be completely defrosted before cooking it with this product.

CAUTION: Do not use metal utensils on this product, as they will scratch and damage the plates' non-stick coating.

1. Insert the plug into a standard electrical outlet. Make sure that the voltage to be used agrees with the rated voltage of your appliance.
2. Close the sandwich maker while the appliance heats up.
3. The power indicator will light up in orange. When the light shifts to green (after about 5 minutes) the sandwich maker is ready for use.
4. Use the handle to open the unit. Place food on the lower plate using wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils. Close the appliance carefully and lock the appliance. Do not shut the appliance with force. Steam may be ejected from between the hotplates.

NOTE: The cooking time for different food depends on the type and thickness of the food.

1. When the green indicator light turns off, the orange indicator light will light and the sandwich is ready.

2. Lift the handle to open the plates, then remove the sandwich using wooden or plastic heat-resistant utensils. If more cooking will be done at this time, close the plates to conserve heat.

3. Repeat steps 4-6 until all cooking is complete, reapplying cooking oil if necessary.

4. Turn off the product by unplugging the power cord from the electrical outlet.

5. When the unit has completely cooled, clean and dry it.

6. Lock the unit in its closed position by pressing the end of the locking latch farthest from the handle.

Note: Care must be taken to ensure that fingers do not come into contact with the hotplates.

Cleaning

■ Before cleaning, unplug and wait for the appliance and the plates to cool down.
■ Wipe the outside and the plates with only a slightly damp cloth and dry.
- Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool as this will damage the finish.
■ Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
