Frequently Asked Questions - SAC10C19E Sandstrøm

How do I install the exhaust hose for window installation?
Use the supplied sealing cloth and magic tape to seal the window opening. Connect Exhaust Hose A to the Exhaust Hose Adapter A on the unit, then attach to the window via the Wall Exhaust Adapter (or directly if using window kit). Ensure the hose is not blocked or kinked.
What does error code E1 mean?
E1 indicates an internal malfunction. Try switching off the unit, unplugging it for a few minutes, then plugging back in. If the error persists, contact a qualified service agent for assistance.
How do I clean the air filters?
Turn off and unplug the unit. For the upper filter, pull open the grille, remove the filter, and wash with warm water and neutral detergent. For the lower filter, unscrew the grille, remove the filter, and clean similarly. Ensure filters are completely dry before reinstalling.
Can I use the air conditioner in a room smaller than 10 m²?
No. The appliance must be installed, operated, and stored in a room with a floor area larger than 10 m² due to the refrigerant R290 (flammable). This is for safety reasons.
How do I drain water from the unit?
When the display shows P1, the bottom tray is full. Move the unit to a drain location, remove the bottom tray drain outlet cover and plug, drain the water, then replace the plug and cover. In Dry mode, you can attach a drain tube for continuous drainage.
What is the function of Sleep mode?
Sleep mode gradually adjusts the temperature by 1°C/2°F and maintains it for 7 hours before returning to the original setting. It optimizes comfort and energy usage. Available in Auto or Cool modes only.
The unit is noisy or vibrating excessively. What should I do?
Ensure the unit is placed on a stable, flat, and level surface. Move it to a location away from walls or furniture. If the noise persists, check for loose parts or contact a qualified service agent.
How do I set the auto on/off timer?
On the unit: press TIMER, then use +/- to set the off time, press TIMER again, set the on time, and confirm. On the remote: press TIMER ON or TIMER OFF repeatedly to set the desired time. The unit will beep to confirm.
Is it safe to use an extension cord?
No. Do not use plug adaptors or extension cords with this unit. The unit must be plugged directly into a properly grounded wall outlet to avoid electrical hazards.
What type of refrigerant does the unit use and why is it important?
The unit uses R290 (propane) refrigerant with a low Global Warming Potential (GWP=3). It is flammable, so the unit must be used in rooms larger than 10 m². Never tamper with the refrigerant circuit; only qualified service agents may handle it.

The air conditioner cools little and releases a lot of heat at the back despite the drainage piping. The filters are cleaned. What to do?
Frequently Asked Questions - 18 j
Response Notice-Facile

After cleaning the filters, here are the points to check as a priority:

Cooling Efficiency

  • Close doors and windows - This is the most common cause: the room cannot cool if it is open to the outside.
  • Check the set temperature - Lower it by a few degrees to see an improvement.
  • Eliminate heat sources - Lamps, computers, electrical devices produce heat and counteract cooling.
  • Check the drainage hose - Make sure it is not bent, crushed, or blocked. A blocked hose drastically reduces efficiency.
  • Check the position of the hose - It should not rest on the ground or be coiled. A free circuit allows for better air circulation.

Heat at the Back

It is normal for a portable air conditioner to produce heat at the back - this is the condenser expelling the captured heat. As long as the hose is properly connected and free of obstruction, this heat is expelled outside.

If you still feel a lot of heat despite clear piping, check that the unit is not overheating (noisy fans, odor) and that the filters have no residue after cleaning.

Important Note

If you are cooling a very large space, a room that is very exposed to the sun, or if the outside temperature exceeds 35°C, this portable unit may not be sized to effectively cool the entire area. In this case, focus on using it in a smaller or closed room.

Respond (be the first)
The device is over 4 years old and I have never received a signal to empty the tank. Should I empty it now?
Frequently Asked Questions - 18 j
Response Notice-Facile

No, you are not required to empty the tank just because time has passed. The Sandstrøm SAC10C19E air conditioner is designed to automatically alert you when it is necessary.

How it works:

  • The device signals that the tank is full with the “P1” indicator on the LED screen
  • As long as you have not seen this signal, it means that the tank has not reached its maximum capacity
  • The filling frequency depends entirely on the humidity level in your room – some installations can operate for several months or years without intervention

If you prefer to avoid manual emptying: According to the manual, this model can be set to continuous drainage mode. You can then install an automatic drainage hose instead of managing a manual tank.

Refrigerant leakage contributes to climate change. Refrigerant with lower global warming potential (GWP) would contribute less to global warming than a refrigerant with a higher GWP, if leaked into the atmosphere. This appliance contains a refrigerant fluid with a GWP equal to 3. This means that if 1kg of this refrigerant fluid were leaked into the atmosphere, the impact on global warming would be 3 times higher than 1kg of CO2 over a period of 100 years. Never try to interfere with the refrigerant circuit yourself or disassemble the product yourself. Always asks a qualified service agent.
