Frequently Asked Questions - Compact 7208 OBH NORDICA

How do I replace the dust bag?
Switch off and unplug. Open dust compartment door by pressing release button. Remove bag holder and detach old bag. Attach new bag into slots on holder and secure with spring mechanism. Close lid gently—do not force if bag is missing.
What does the dust bag replacement indicator mean?
The indicator shows a color scale. When it turns red, the bag must be replaced even if not completely full, because airflow is reduced. After replacing the bag, if indicator stays red, check for blockages in hose, tube, or nozzle, or replace dirty filters.
Can I use the vacuum cleaner without a dust bag or filters?
No. The vacuum cleaner must never be used without a dust bag, motor filter, and exhaust filter. The dust compartment door cannot close without a bag (safety lock). Using without filters may damage the motor.
How do I rewind the power cord?
Press the foot switch for cord rewind. Hold the plug slightly to prevent it from rebounding onto the vacuum cleaner. Do not unwind beyond the red marker to avoid damage.
Can I vacuum liquids or wet surfaces?
No. The vacuum cleaner is designed for dry dust and dirt only. Vacuuming water or other liquids can cause serious damage and voids warranty.
How do I clean the vacuum cleaner itself?
Unplug the unit. Wipe the exterior and accessories with a well-wrung cloth. Never use gasoline or oil-like liquids. Do not submerge in water.
What should I do if the suction power is low?
Check the suction power setting on the unit (MIN/MAX). Ensure the handle air inlet valve is closed. Replace the dust bag if full. Check if motor or exhaust filter is dirty and replace if needed. Inspect nozzle, tube, and hose for blockages.
How often should I replace the filters?
Replace the motor filter and exhaust filter every time you start a new pack of dust bags, or approximately every 6 months.
What does the parking system do?
Temporary parking: place the floor nozzle hook into the holder on the back of the vacuum cleaner for short breaks. Permanent parking: use the holder on the underside for storing the vacuum cleaner.
What should I do if the vacuum cleaner won't start?
Check if the power cord and plug are damaged. Test the mains fuse and replace if blown. If the unit still doesn't start, return it to the store for repair.

Labeled diagram of a vacuum cleaner with numbered parts for identification

Assembling the vacuum cleaner

Attach the elbow hose coupler (8) to the vacuum cleaner's suction opening at the top of the vacuum cleaner. Then fit the hose handle (1) firmly together with the telescopic tube (2), and finally attach the floor nozzle (7) to the other end of the telescopic tube. To dismount the hose, press the two buttons on either side of the elbow coupler inwards while simultaneously pulling upwards.

IMPORTANT!

Only apply the original hose coupler to the vacuum cleaner's suction opening. Never use hoses from other vacuum cleaners. Hoses from other vacuum cleaners might get stuck in the elbow coupler.

Floor nozzle

The floor nozzle can be used for cleaning carpets as well as hard floors. It is equipped with two positions:

Position 1 (brushes are raised) Use when vacuum cleaning carpets. Indicated by the symbol without brushes on the floor nozzle.

Position 2 (the brushes are lowered) Use when vacuum cleaning hard flooring such as parquet, tiles, etc. Indicated by the symbol with brushes on the floor nozzle.

Select position by depressing the foot switch with the required symbol.

Furniture nozzle

This nozzle is used for vacuum cleaning upholstered furniture, cushions, curtains, and similar.

Floor- and crevice nozzle

This nozzle is used for vacuum cleaning shelves, books, panels, and similar, when its brushes are pushed forwards.

When the brushes are pushed back, the nozzle functions as a crevice nozzle for vacuum cleaning crevices, corners, and similar.

Cord rewind

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a convenient power cord rewind function making it easy to adjust the cord to the required length.

The power cord is unwound by pulling the plug until the required cord length is reached. The cord has a yellow marker indicating the ideal unwound cord length.

Important!

The power cord must NOT be unwound further than the red marker on the cable. Avoid damage to the cord rewind function and never pull a fully unwound cable.

To rewind the power cord press the foot switch (6) and the cord automatically rewinds into the vacuum cleaner. It is recommended that you hold back the cord slightly during rewind to prevent the plug from rebounding onto the vacuum cleaner, thus protecting cord rewind and plug.

How to use the vacuum cleaner

When the vacuum cleaner has been assembled and the power cord has been unwound to the desired length and applied to a power socket, the vacuum cleaner is ready for use. Press the Start/Stop switch (4) to start the vacuum cleaner. It is recommended that the suction power regulator is set to ‘MIN’ before the vacuum cleaner is activated.

Suction power regulation

The suction power can be adjusted to the object of cleaning and how dirty it is. Suction power is regulated variably by means of the slide switch on the vacuum cleaner (5).

MIN: Use for delicate surfaces and materials such as curtains, and similar. MAX: Use for e.g. fitted carpets.

Suction power regulation on the handle

The suction power regulation on the handle is ideal for brief reductions in suction power. The air inlet valve can be manually adjusted so that the nozzle slides easily over the material. REMEMBER to push the valve shut again for best results. The more the inlet valve is opened, the less suction power.

Parking system

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with two types of parking systems; temporary ('short term') and permanent ('long term') parking.

The temporary parking system is used if you wish to put down the vacuum cleaner during cleaning, e.g. to move a piece of furniture. The hook on the back of the floor nozzle is placed in the holder on the back of the vacuum cleaner.

The permanent parking system is used when you have finished vacuum cleaning and wish to put the vacuum cleaner away. The hook on the floor nozzle is placed in the holder located on the underside of the vacuum cleaner.

Dust bag replacement indicator

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a dust bag replacement indicator that displays when the dust bag needs to be replaced.

The indicator functions by means of a colour scale in the small window on the vacuum cleaner. If the color scale turns all red the dust bag must be replaced, even if it is not completely full.

The indicator functions by measurement of the power by which air flows through the dust bag (air porosity). If the air porosity is low, the vacuum cleaner will regard this as a full dust bag and the indicator will be activated.

If the indicator is still activated after you have replaced the dust bag, this may be a sign

that air flow through hose, tube, suction opening, or nozzle is blocked. Check where the -clogging is and remove it before switching on the vacuum cleaner again.

- that the motor filter is dirty/clogged and needs to be replaced that the exhaust filter is dirty/clogged and needs to be replaced-

Do not use the vacuum cleaner when the dust bag replacement indicator is activated. Make sure to replace the dust bag immediately instead.

How to replace the dust bag

To replace the dust bag, switch off the vacuum cleaner and unplug from the power socket.

Remove the vacuum cleaner hose first. Then open the door to the dust compartment by pressing the release button (9). Take out bag holder and bag.

Detach the dust bag from the bag holder by releasing the small spring mechanism located at the top of the holder. Fit the new dust bag into the two slots on the inside of the holder first, then attach it by means of the spring mechanism.

Be careful not to trap or puncture the dust bag when closing the lid to the dust compartment.

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner must NEVER be used without a dust bag. The dust compartment lid cannot be closed if there is no dust bag in the compartment. Do consequently not apply excessive force attempting to close the lid.

Replacing filters

The motor filter

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with a motor filter which is located in a cassette in the dust compartment. The motor filter should be replaced every time you start a new package of dust bags (or approximately every 6 months).

The motor filter is replaced by taking out the cassette from the dust compartment and carefully removing the filter from the cassette. Then attach a new filter and place the cassette back in the dust compartment.

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner must NEVER be used without a motor filter

Exhaust filter

The vacuum cleaner is equipped with an exhaust filter, placed in a cassette just behind the suction power regulator. This exhaust filter should be replaced every time you start a new package of dust bags (or approximately every 6 months).

Open the door to access the cassette by depressing the switch. Then the door can be detached, and the cassette can be taken out.

The exhaust filter is replaced by taking out the cassette and carefully removing the filter from the cassette. Then attach a new filter and place the cassette back in the compartment.

IMPORTANT!

The vacuum cleaner may NEVER be used without an exhaust filter.

Cleaning the vacuum cleaner itself

The vacuum cleaner and the accessories can be wiped clean with a well-wrung cloth. Remember to remove the plug from the power socket while the vacuum cleaner is cleaned. Never use gasoline or oil-like liquids to clean the unit.

What do I do if...

• The vacuum cleaner will not start

Remove the plug from the power socket and check if there is a visible defect to - power cord or plug. If this is the case, the vacuum cleaner must be returned to the store where it was purchased for repair.

Check if a mains fuse has blown. Replace the fuse if this is the case.-

• The dust compartment door cannot be closed

Check if the dust bag is placed correctly. If this is not the case, the bag must be - re- attached before the vacuum cleaner is activated.

- The vacuum cleaner has insufficient suction power

Check if the suction power regulation is set to the required suction power level. If - this is not the case, adjust the suction power by means of the slide switch.

Check if the dust bag is full. Replace the dust bag if this is the case.-

Check if the slide valve for suction power regulation on the handle is open. Push the - valve shut if this is the case.

Check if the motor filter or the exhaust filter is dirty. Clean or replace the filter - concerned or both if this is the case.

Check if the floor nozzle, telescopic tube, or hose is clogged. If this is the case, -dismount the clogged part/parts and remove clogging.
