How do I connect the CD Box DS2T to an external DAC?

Use one of the digital outputs: optical (TOSlink), coaxial (S/PDIF), or AES/EBU. Connect the appropriate cable to the corresponding input on your DAC.

How can I switch the unit on and off?

You can press the front pushbutton to toggle between on and standby. Alternatively, connect a 12V trigger signal to the Trigger Input socket for remote power control.

How do I use the remote control?

The remote allows you to turn the unit on/off, control volume, start/pause playback (I button), select tracks directly using numeric keys (e.g., press 1 then 9 for track 19, or +10 then 2 then 9 for track 29), step between tracks, fast scan, and access repeat/random modes.

How do I insert and eject a disc?

With the unit on, insert the disc label side up into the slot; it loads automatically. Press the stop button (■) once to stop playback, then press again to eject the disc.

How do I enable repeat or random playback?

Press the 0 button repeatedly to cycle through modes: repeat current track, repeat all tracks, shuffle play, and back to normal. The display shows the corresponding icon.

Can I dim the display?

Yes, with playback stopped, press and hold the ■ and ▶▶ buttons simultaneously to cycle through brightness levels: full, half, and one third.

How do I replace the remote control battery?

Unlock and slide open the battery case cover on the remote. Replace with one CR2032 or CR2025 3V battery, ensuring correct polarity (+/-). Close the cover.

What types of discs are supported?

The player supports CD, CD-R, CD-RW, and Hybrid-SACD discs. Do not use cracked, chipped, warped, or shaped discs as they may damage the unit.

What is the trigger function?

The trigger input (2.5mm socket) accepts a 12V signal to automatically power on the unit, e.g., from another Box Design component. The trigger output relays the signal to daisy-chain other devices. Use only special trigger cables (polarity -●^- +).

How should I clean and maintain the CD player?

Use a soft, dry cloth to clean the exterior. Never allow liquids to enter the device or power supply. Avoid placing objects with liquid (e.g., vases) on or near the unit. For internal cleaning, consult a qualified technician.

In order to achieve maximum performance and reliability you should study these instructions for use carefully.

Warning of a hazard for the user, the unit or possible misuse.

Important notice.

Caution! Laser diode, discs to avoid, safety instructions

This product contains a laser diode. To ensure continued safety, do not remove any covers or attempt to gain access to the inside of the product. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel.

If a disc is cracked, chipped, warped, or otherwise damaged, don't risk to play it. You could end up damaging the unit. This player is designed for use with fully circular, full size CDs only. Use of shaped discs is not recommended. The manufacturer and the distributor disclaims all liability arising in connection with the use of damaged or shaped discs.

AC outlet voltages vary from country to country. Before connecting to the mains, make sure that the voltage in your area meets the voltage requirements printed on the power supply.

The power supply is used to disconnect the unit from the mains. Make sure that the power supply is easily accessible at all times. Never handle the device, the power supply while your hands are wet or damp.

Avoid letting liquids enter the device or the power supply. Never place any item containing liquid, such as a flower vase on or near the device. Never spill any liquid on the device or the power supply. Never place any naked flame sources, such as lighted candles on or near the device. The product shall not be used in damp or wet locations, next to a bathtub, sink, swimming pool or any other similar conditions.

Connectors

Make all connections whilst the CD player is disconnected from the power supply. Never use any other power supply than the one supplied with the unit.

Connection to an external D/A-converter

Use one of the available S/PDIF sockets (Coaxial, Optical) or AES/EBU to connect the CD player to a D/A converter or AV processor.

Mains power connection and methods to switch the unit on and off

Connect the low voltage plug from the power supply to the Power 9V socket of the unit before connecting the power supply to the mains. The unit can be switched on and off by using 2 different methods which are equal in priorities.

1. Using front pushbutton to switch on or into standby

The pushbutton on the front panel of the unit alternately turns the power on or returns it to standby mode. The blue LED on the front panel shows that the unit is powered on. If a trigger signal is present the unit can't be switched off by the pushbutton.

2. Remote power on - triggers

The unit can be switched on via other Box Design components when a 12V trigger voltage is present at the 2.5mm socket marked Trigger Input. Special power-on cables (polarity -●^- +) in diverse lengths are available as accessories. The remote power-on signal can be relayed to further units via the Trigger Output socket. When the 12V trigger signal is switched off, the unit will also switch off.

Trigger cables may only be plugged into the sockets when the unit is disconnected from the power supply and from the mains. Failure to do so may result in damage of the unit.

Pressing while playback, starts playback of the current track from the beginning.

Press and hold the button 🏠️ for fast reverse scanning. 🏠️ activates fast forward scanning.

Repeat and random play

Pressing the 0 button repeatedly selects the repeat modes and random play. The display shows:

repeat play for the current track

repeat play for all tracks

shuffle play

0 Pressing again takes the CD player back to standard playback.

Front panel controls

Inserting and ejecting a disc

Switch the unit on from standby. Insert the disc into the slot, with the label side facing upwards. The slot-loading mechanism will load the disc automatically. The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc and the total duration of the disc.

A short press of the button ■ stops playback. Pressing ■ again, ejects the disc.

Dimming the display

Press and hold the buttons ■ and ▶▶ will change the display brightness - full, half and one third.

To access that function, playback must be stopped.

Play

▶ starts playback of the first track. The display shows the current track number, the elapsed time of the current track and the play icon.

Pause

▶ pauses playback. The display shows the current track number, the elapsed time of the current track and the pause icon.

To resume playback press Iagain.

Stop

A short press of the button ■ stops playback. The display shows the total number of tracks on the disc, the total duration of the disc and the stop icon.

Stepping between tracks

Press the buttons ◀◀ (previous track) or ▶▶ (next track).

Pressing ◀ while playback, the current track starts playing from the beginning.

The display shows the number of the tracks as you step, the elapsed time of the current track and the step icon.

Scanning through the disc

Press and hold the button (fast backward) or (fast forward) to scan through the disc. The display shows the current track number, the elapsed time of the current track and the scan icon.

Releasing ◀◀ or ▶▶I will take you back to playback.

Replacing batteries

Proceed as follows:

• Unlock and slide open the battery case cover
• Replace the battery.
  Make sure the battery is the right way round!
• Close the battery case cover
