Frequently Asked Questions - Attraxion Quick 5540 OBH NORDICA

How do I charge the Attraxion Quick 5540?
Connect the adapter to the appliance and plug into a wall outlet. The signal lamp will flash red during charging and turn green when fully charged. Ensure the appliance is switched off during charging. For full cordless use, charge for at least 16 hours.
Can I use the clipper while charging?
Yes, you can use the clipper with the adapter connected. Make sure the appliance is switched off before connecting, wait a few seconds, then turn it on. If it does not work immediately, let it charge for about 1 minute.
How do I adjust the cutting length?
Attach the desired distance comb (4-34 mm) by pressing it onto the appliance until it clicks. Then use the adjustment button above the switch to set the precise length, indicated by an arrow on the side of the comb. Start with a longer comb to avoid cutting too much.
How do I use the thinning function?
Push the button on the thinning comb (button 2) to the left. This will position the thinning comb in front of the trimming head. Then proceed to cut as normal.
How do I clean the clipper?
Always switch off and unplug the appliance before cleaning. Remove the distance comb and trimmer head. Clean the combs with water and mild detergent. Use the enclosed brush to remove hair from the trimmer head and inside the appliance. Do not immerse the appliance or adapter in water.
How often should I oil the blades?
Oil the cutting blades regularly to maintain performance. To oil, remove the trimmer head, carefully spread the blades, and add 2-3 drops of the enclosed oil. Replace the trimmer head and run the clipper briefly to distribute the oil. Wipe off excess with a paper towel. Keep oil out of reach of children.
What should I do if the clipper slows down?
Check if hair is stuck in the comb or trimmer head. Switch off the appliance and remove the hair. If the problem persists, the batteries may need charging. Recharge the appliance for about 12 hours.
How do I replace the batteries?
Remove the distance comb and trimmer head. Unscrew the two screws at the bottom of the housing. Separate the housing and remove the old batteries. Dispose of them properly. Install new rechargeable AA Ni-MH 1.2V batteries. Reassemble the housing.
Can I use the clipper on wet hair?
No, the hair should be washed, combed, and dried before use. Wet hair makes it harder to pass the comb through and may affect performance. The appliance must be kept dry.
What is covered by the warranty?
Warranty according to current law. Claims must be accompanied by the cash receipt with purchase date. The appliance should be returned to the store of purchase. Damages from improper use or not following the instruction manual are not covered.

  2. Connect the adapter switch to the wall outlet.
  3. When the batteries are being charged the signal lamp will go on and flash with a red light. When a full charging has been obtained, the colour of the signal lamp changes to green.
  4. Make sure that the appliance is switched off during charging.

If the appliance is to be used without the adapter, at least 16 hours of charging of the appliance is necessary. When the appliance has been fully charged, you can run the appliance without the cord for about 45 minutes (depending on the type of hair). Subsequently, the batteries should be recharged about 12 hours after each charging..

How to use the adapter

Connect the switch of the adapter to the outlet of the appliance and plug the adapter to a wall outlet. Make sure that the appliance is disconnected when activated and wait a few seconds before you switch it on. If the appliance does not work right away, let it charge for about 1 minute. Make sure that the appliance is shut off during charging.

Use

- Make sure that the appliance is clean, fully recharged or connected to the adapter and ready for use. Make sure to oil the cutting blade regularly to maintain a good performance (see further "Cleaning and maintenance").

- The hair should be washed, combed and dried (wet hair will make it harder to pass the comb through the hair).

- Choose the distance comb that corresponds to the length of hair you want (4, 8, 12, 16, 19, 23, 27, 31 or 34 mm). We recommend that you start with a long comb the first time to prevent cutting off too much. The measurements are marked on the combs.

- Press the comb onto the appliance and make sure that the blades of the comb click into the notches on each side of the appliance. The appliance can also be used without the distance comb if you want a shaved result (see further under "Use without distance comb").

- Set the desired length by means of the adjustment button placed above the switch. The chosen length is marked with an arrow above the notches on the side on the comb.

- If you just want to thin the hair, push the button (2) on the thinning comb to the left. Now the thinning comb will be in front of the trimming head.

- Next, switch on the hair cutter by pushing the switch upwards.

- Hold the appliance with the trimming head upwards to have the flat side of the trimmer face towards the head. Start at the neck and move the hair clipper in short, soft movements upwards and outwards. Work your way up to the top of the head and continue with the next section. Take your time and stop and check the result from time to time and comb the hair regularly to remove loose hair.

- If the hair clipper starts to work slower, check for hair being stuck in the comb/trimmer head. Shut off the appliance and remove all hair before you start again. The problem may even be due to the fact that the batteries need charging, if the appliance no longer works.

- For trimming around the ears and lower neck you might need to change to a shorter comb or remove the comb and use the trimming head only.

Use without distance comb

If you want a cropped result (0.9 mm), you can use the appliance without a distance comb and only use the trimming head.

Turn on the appliance by means of the switch. Hold the appliance with the trimming head upwards to have the flat side of the trimmer face towards the head. Start at the neck and move the hair clipper in short, soft movements upwards. Work your way up to the top of the head and continue with the next section. Be extra careful around the ears. Switch off the appliance by means of the switch after cutting.

Cutting by means of fingers/comb

  • Use your fingers and/or comb to cut hair sections longer than 34 cm.
  • Remove the distance comb from the clipper by pulling the comb straight upwards.
  • Lift a hair section with an ordinary comb or hold it between your fingers to have excess hair stick up over your fingers.
  • Cut off the hair with the hair clipper. Continue in this way until the wanted length has been obtained.
  • Comb regularly to remove loose hair and to check the result.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Always shut off the clipper and disconnect it from the adapter before cleaning.
- Never immerse the appliance or the adapter in water or other liquids.
- Remove the distance comb from the appliance by pulling the comb straight upwards.
- The distance combs should be cleaned with water and a little mild detergent.
- Remove hair from the trimming head with the enclosed brush.
- The trimming head can be removed for cleaning by pulling the trimming head backwards. Next, brush hair from the trimming head and inside the appliance. Press the trimming head back until it engages with a click.
- Never try to sharpen the cutting blades yourself.

How to oil the cutting blades

  • The cutting blades should be oiled regularly to maintain the performance.
  • Pull the trimming head backwards to remove it from the appliance. Carefully spread the cutting blades and add 2-3 drops of the enclosed oil on the cutting blades.

- Pull back the trimming head and switch on the hair clipper in order to spread the oil. Dry off excess oil with paper towel.

NOTE! The enclosed oil can be dangerous to consume and should be kept out of reach of children.

Disposal of appliance and batteries

The hair clipper is equipped with 2 rechargeable AA Ni-MH 1,2V batteries. When it is no longer possible to recharge the batteries or if they discharge relatively quickly, remove the batteries and dispose of the appliance.

How to remove the batteries:

  • Remove the distance comb and the trimming head in accordance with the instructions above in section "Cleaning and maintenance", from the appliance. Unscrew the two screws at the bottom part that holds together the housing.
