Before the appliance is used for the first time, read through the instruction manual carefully and save it for future use.

Wash the ground coffee container with lid and the lid to the coffee bean container and make sure that all parts are dry before use. Wipe the cover with a damp cloth.

Put the lid on the ground coffee container and put the container back into the grinder. Note that the coffee grinder will not operate if the ground coffee container and lid are not properly in place.

Important information before you use the appliance for the first time!

During manufacturing the grinding wheels are installed so that they touch initially. The grinder will not function properly while the wheels are touching each other. To avoid grinding with the wheels touching, proceed as follows:

  • Place the appliance on a flat level surface.
  • Make sure that the bean container is empty, clean and dry.
  • Plug the grinder and set the fineness selector to number 9.
  • Fill the bean container with 3-4 tablespoons of coffee beans.
  • Set the grind amount selector to number 4. Make sure the ground coffee container with its lid is in place.
  • Push and hold the switch for 2 seconds.
  • Repeat the same procedure in a different fineness position, for example number 3.
  • The appliance is now ready for use at any setting.

Use

Grinding process

  • Place your appliance on a flat level surface.
  • Place the ground coffee container lid on the ground coffee container and put it into the grinder.
  • Plug the grinder into an outlet.
  • Lift the lid from the bean container and fill it with coffee beans and replace the lid. The bean container can hold up to 200 g coffee beans. Note: Only coffee beans should be filled into the bean container. The coffee beans keeps its aroma for up to two weeks in the container.
  • Set the grind amount selector to the number of cups of coffee you want to grind by sliding the grind amount selector (at the front of the appliance) above the correct number. These numbers are to be used as a guide. The amount of ground coffee varies quite a bit depending on how coarse or fine you grind and whether you use light, dry beans or dark oily beans. After grinding a few times you will find the correct grind amount position for the amount of coffee you want to grind.
  • Set the fineness selector (on the side of the appliance) to the desired setting. If you want coarse grinded coffee that is suitable for perculators and press coffee makers, you should set the wheel at setting 8 or 9. If you want a more finely grinded coffee for espresso makers for example, you should set the wheel at setting 4. We recommend that you test different settings to find the ultimate setting for your need.

  • Note! Never change the fineness selector setting while grinding.

  • Push and hold the switch to start the appliance. The grinder will begin to grind the coffee directly into the ground coffee container and will stop automatically. Attention: beans may stick to the wall of the bean container preventing them from falling into the burrs. You will hear a high pitched noise from the motor when this happens. Gently shake the grinder so that the beans slide down into the burrs. Note, if you need to turn the grinder off before the grinding cycle is finished, slide the grind amount selector to the STOP position.
  • Be sure to turn off the appliance and disconnect the plug after use.

Grinding tips

  • Never grind in advance, only grind the amount of coffee you will use. Ground coffee loses aroma and flavour quickly and attracts other odours.
  • Do not grind for more than one minute at a time. Let machine cool down for 5 minutes before grinding again.
  • Empty the coffee ground container before it is completely full. Otherwise ground coffee can back up to the grinding chute and block the grinding mechanism.
  • Before removing the ground coffee container, tap the machine a few times. This will relieve some of the static build-up which occurs during grinding.

Cleaning and maintenance

• Always unplug your coffee grinder before cleaning.
- Remove the ground coffee container, its lid and the bean container lid and clean them in warm water and mild detergent. Do not place these items in the dishwasher.
- Remove ground coffee from the grinder chute with the enclosed brush. Empty the bean container and wipe it with a damp cloth.
- The cover can be wiped clean with a damp cloth.
- Never immerse the grinder or its cord in water or any other liquid. Do not use abrasive materials to clean the appliance.

Cleaning/removing the upper burr disk

  • Turn the fineness selector to number 1.
  • Turn the roof of the upper grinding burr clockwise according to the instruction (UNLOCK).
  • Lift the upper burr out of the grinder. Clean both burrs with the enclosed brush. Note, do not unscrew the upper burr from its housing.
  • Replace the upper burr into the grinder and turn counterclockwise (LOCK) until the fineness selector points to number 9.
