Before use

Clean the appliance and the parts according to the instructions given in "Cleaning and maintenance" before use.

Parts of the appliance

  1. Lid
  2. Frying basket
  3. Frying basket handle
  4. Control panel/heating element
  5. Oil container

How to use the appliance

Position the deep-fat fryer on an even and stable surface. Please note that the fryer gets hot during use and consequently, sensible objects should not be placed close to the fryer. Make sure that the cord is placed in such a way that nothing can get stuck in it. Do not position the fryer under an exhaust hood during use, as possible flames may spread via the hood.

Remove the lid of the fryer and remove the frying basket and the handle. Fasten the handle on the fryer basket by pressing together the steel bars of the handle and insert the ends of the steel bars into the loops at the inner side of the basket (see fig.). Next, press the handle backwards to be squeezed against the edge of the basket. It is extremely important that the handle is positioned correctly; if not, the basket may tip backwards over your hand.

The fryer basket has a 'hook' on the outer side in order that you can hook it onto the deep fryer after frying, which makes it easier for the oil to drain.

Use vegetable oil for frying, e.g. sunflower oil or deep-fry oil, but never mix different types of oil. Never use solid fat as it releases much liquid that may cause splashing.

Never switch on the fryer until you have placed the removable oil container in the appliance. Pour the oil only in the oil container and never in the appliance itself. Never switch on the fryer without oil in the oil container, as this may damage the appliance.

Deep-fat frying

  1. Check that the switch has been plugged to a wall outlet.
  2. Pour the wanted amount of oil in the oil container (max 3 litres). The maximum and minimum levels are marked on the inside of the oil container and the oil level MUST NOT be over or below said marking
  3. Plug to a wall outlet. Start the deep-fat fryer by turning the temperature dial to the wanted setting depending on the ingredients to be fried. The signal lamp goes on and the heating starts.
  4. When the set temperature has been obtained, the signal lamp goes off and the frying can start.
  5. Fill the basket with the raw materials to be fried (never fill above MAX marking) and be sure that the raw materials are completely covered by the oil. Note! Do not use olive oil in the fryer since its smoking point is too low. If the basket is overfilled, the result may be affected and there is a risk that the oil boils over.
  6. Carefully immerse the basket in the oil container of the fryer and mount the lid.

  7. Deep fry the raw materials for the period of time recommended in the "Frying guide". Note that the times are indicative and may vary depending on the amount, temperature, texture, freshness etc. If you fry the same raw material twice, wait 3-5 minutes before the second frying and be sure that the signal lamp has gone off before you start the second frying.

Frying guide

Raw material Temperature(°C)Weight (g)Indicative frying time (min)
Shrimps 130.250.3-5
Onion 140.150.3-4
Mushroom 140.300.6-8
Fillet of fish 150.250.5-6
Breaded fish 150.400.6-8
Fish burgers/buns 150.400.6-8
Sliced meat 170.400.7-10
Beef 170.400.7-10
Strips of chicken 180.500.6-10
French fries (first frying) 190.700.6-10
French fries (second frying) 190.3-4

If you feel uncertain as to the preparation time, try to fry the raw materials for a shorter period of time and check the result. Continue the frying if necessary. At the beginning we recommend that you fry just a small portion at a time until you are familiar with the necessary preparation time.

Some frozen raw materials should be defrosted and prepared like fresh ingredients such as not-breaded fish fillets. Pre-fried French fries, breaded fish and the like should however, not be defrosted, but simply fried frozen and generally be fried for a shorter period of time, but at a higher temperature.

  • If there are ice particles in the raw materials, remove them before frying.
  • Humid foodstuff should be wiped dry before they are put in the basket. When frying it is important that the raw materials are of about the same size to have an even frying,
  • Fresh raw materials that are very humid should be covered with flour or breaded in order to get the best result. The breading could be whipped egg and milk Put the raw material in the breading and next dip in breadcrumbs. It is important not to season the raw materials before frying, as this will affect the quality of the oil.
  • To obtain an extra crispy result you could fry in two consecutive steps.

Safety feature

This deep-fat fryer is equipped with a safety switch, which switches it off if it overheats. If the fryer has been switched on with too little oil in, or no oil at all, or it overheats for any other reason, unplug it and allow it to cool down.

To start it up again, press the reset button on the left side of the panel. Use a paper clip or similar to press the button. Make sure there is the right quantity of oil in the oil container, and then plug the fryer in at the wall and set to the desired temperature. If the signal lamp turns green when the preselected temperature is reached, this means the fryer is functioning normally again. If the green light does not come on and the fryer switches off, it is defective. Unplug it and contact the store you bought it from. Never attempt to carry out repairs yourself, as this may cause damage.

After use

  • Unplug after use.
  • Remove the lid and suspend the basket on the hook and let the oil drain. Warning! Hot steam will evaporate when you open the lid to the deep-fat fryer. Consequently, protect your face and hands when lifting the lid.
  • Lift the basket and put the fried raw materials on a piece of kitchen paper to absorb superfluous oil. Always lift the basket by the handle and never touch the basket while still hot.
  • Do not move the deep-fat fryer until the oil has cooled completely.
  • Wind the cord in the wind support at the back of the control panel.
  • Store the deep-fat fryer. The oil can be kept separately in the oil container if you want to. Read more in the section "Cleaning and maintenance".

Ice or water in the oil can give rise to explosive boiling. This can happen during frying or even some time after the fryer has been switched off, as it takes a long time for the temperature of the oil to go below 100° C. Water can remain in the oil and cause boiling long after the fryer has been switched off or when the fryer is started up using old oil. Therefore carefully follow the instructions about wiping away any excess liquid from food items before frying and make sure that no ice from freezer packs gets into the oil.

Cleaning and maintenance

Always unplug before cleaning and wait until the deep-fat fryer and the oil have cooled completely. Never immerse the housing, the element and the cord in water or any other liquid. Remove the control panel with the heating element from the housing by pulling it upwards. Lift the oil container off the fryer and filter the oil through e.g. a coffee filter to remove any possible remains. The frying basket, the handle, and the housing of the deep-fat fryer should be hand washed in water and a washing-up liquid, whereas the oil container and the lid can be washed in the dishwasher. Wipe dry the control panel and the element with a damp cloth and possibly a drop of mild detergent; never use scouring detergents or a kitchen sponge and never immerse these parts in water.

Be sure that the deep-fat fryer has cooled completely and that all parts are completely dry before you store the appliance.
