PRIOR TO FIRST USE
Before using for the first time (or after a long period of storage), fill the kettle with water and boil the water. Empty and refill and boil again.
- Fill the kettle up to the maximum level ("MAX") shown on the water level gauge (8) (the kettle can hold a maximum of 1.7 litres).
- Switch on as described under "Using the Appliance". Allow the water to boil.
- Pour out the water once it has boiled.
- Repeat point 2 once more. The appliance is now ready for use.
USING THE APPARATUS
- Open the lid (2) using the open/close button (3).
- Pour fresh water into the kettle. Fill the kettle with water at least to the minimum mark ("MIN") and not exceeding the maximum mark ("MAX"). The marks are shown on the water level gauge.
- Close the lid using the open/close lid button and make sure the lid clicks into place.
o Caution! If the lid is not correctly closed, the appliance does not automatically switch off, once the water boils. -
Place the kettle on its base station (6) by positioning it so the connector on the base fits into the hole on the underside of the kettle.
-
Plug in and switch on the power.
o Caution! If you press the left side of the On/Off switch (4) before replacing the kettle on the base, the kettle switches on automatically when placed on the base. For safety's sake, check the on/off switch position before replacing the kettle on the base to avoid accidentally starting the kettle.
- Switch the appliance on by pressing the On/Off button. The kettle will begin to heat the water.
o If you want to interrupt the boiling, you can do this at any time by pressing the right side of the On/Off button.
Once the water is boiling, the kettle will automatically switch off thanks to the integrated thermostat.
Tip: You can wind any excess cord into the cord storage holder (7) on the underside of the base.
Anti boil-dry device
If you switch the kettle on without having filled it with water, or when the water level is below the "MIN" mark, the anti boil-dry device will automatically switch it off. The appliance can be switched on normally as soon as it is filled with a sufficient amount of water.
CLEANING
When cleaning the appliance, you should pay attention to the following points:
- Remove plug from the mains socket, and allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning it.
- Never submerge the appliance base, cord or plug in water, and no water must be allowed to enter the appliance base.
- Clean the kettle and base by wiping with a damp cloth. A little detergent can be added if the appliance is heavily soiled.
- Do not use scouring pads, steel wool or any form of strong solvents or abrasive cleaning agents to clean the appliance, as they may damage the outside surfaces of the appliance.
- Remove the limescale filter (1) from the appliance and carefully clean it with a soft brush. Remove the filter by pulling it upwards and out of the holder. Replace the filter in the appliance after cleaning.
- IMPORTANT! Allow the appliance to dry fully after cleaning before using again. The appliance must not be used if the base or the underside of the kettle is wet.
- Ensure the appliance is clean and dry before storing.
DESCALING
The lime content of ordinary tap water means limescale may gradually be deposited inside the appliance. This limescale may be loosened using acetic acid (NOT ordinary vinegar) or descaler, available in supermarkets, etc.
-
Mix 100 ml acetic acid with 300 ml cold water, or follow the instructions on the descaler packaging.
-
Pour the solution into the kettle and switch on using the On/Off button.
-
Boil until the appliance switches off automatically.
-
Leave the solution in the kettle for approx. 10 minutes before emptying.
-
To remove the last residues of limescale and acetic, fill the kettle with fresh cold water and boil. Do this three times. The appliance is now ready for use.
