Assembly Preparation
Closed Operation
Mount close to the tap from which the most hot water will be extracted. A design proofed safety valve combination is to be installed. In addition, if water pressure exceeds 0.48 Mpa (4.8 bar), a pressure reducing valve is to be installed and adjusted accordingly. No shut-off valves may be installed between the safety modules and the reservoir. Discharge from the safety valve must always be open. The safety valve combination for closed operation must be accredited (design proofed):
Safety valve combination AK030300, i.e. safety valve combinations with pressure reducing valve AK040300 can be mounted with a customary thermostat pre-mixer.
Note: According to the Energy Conservation Act, the temperature in the mains system must be limited to 60^ C for hot water pipes longer than 5m.
Open Operation
An appropriate overflow mix regulator is to be installed:
BZ12410 wall temperature regulator with bath spout, shower hose and hand sprinkler; or BZ11110 wall regulator with shower hose and hand sprinkler. The discharge from the fitting must always be free. Never use an aerator! A back-flow preventer is to be installed in the cold water intake.
Wall Assembly (page II, diagrams 6 to 9)
The assembly diagram is on the packaging. To allow for replacement of the heating flange and anti-corrosion anode, at least 500m of free space must be left underneath the reservoir. Use appropriate screws with a diameter of at least 12mm. Provide a special supporting structure for lightweight walls.
Mount DG120 and DG150 with both mounting brackets. Vertically align DG80 and DG100 with the wall separator C.
Water Connection (page III / IV, diagrams 10 to 12)
Only detachable connections are permissible!
Before connecting the fittings, thoroughly flush out the water pipes in order to remove any impurities.
For closed operations, if the safety valve is not directly above the drain, then the drain pipe must be mounted at a continuous downward slope in a frost-free environment.
Please take care because of application range within water types according to technical data on page 17.

Maintenance
In order to avoid hazards, repairs may only be carried out by a customer service operator licensed by us.
The initial service through our customer service operator should take place around two years after the first operation. At this time, the device will potentially be decalcified. Afterwards, the customer service operator will recommend a date for the next service. Specify the E-No. and FD-No. when phoning the customer service operator!
Decalcification
Before decalcification the device must be emptied. Without placing stress on the device, draw hot water until cold water comes. Then, close the shut-off valve on the intake, open the hot water valves on all connected fittings and empty the device via the safety valve. A few litres of water will remain in the device. To empty completely, loosen the four screws on the cover and remove the cover (page IV, diagram 13, 13.1). Unscrew the fastener "b" of the discharge connecting piece (page V, diagram 15), the remaining water flows away.
Decalcify the device. The specially enamelled steel reservoir and the protection anode are not to come into contact with the decalcifier, do not work with a pump! Remove heater and de-calcify, clean discharge pipes mechanically and remove remaining lime.
In an open operation, a valve can be fitted between the fitting and cold water intake of the reservoir to aid emptying.

In case of fault
If your device does not function as intended, it is usually due to a small detail. Please check whether or not the fault can be self-repaired according to the following indicators. You will thereby avoid the costs of an unnecessary repair service.
In normal operations, the LED "anode" is constantly lit, the LED "service" is off.
service
If one of the two LEDs flashes, this indicates an "error condition".
In case of fault, do not disconnect the power supply line.
In order to possibly remedy the error condition oneself, there are two procedures:
RESET: To begin with, please reset the device → RESET. To do this, proceed as follows:
Firstly, turn the dial Ⓞ to the setting "●".
After that, press the "fast-heating" button Ⓞ.
If the cause of the “error condition” does not exist directly after the reset, the device will again return to its normal mode of function. Otherwise the device will again indicate an “error condition”.
Diagnostic routines: In order to better define the "error condition", the device uses diagnostic routines. Please activate the program as follows:
Push and hold the button "fast-heating" for at least 5 seconds.
The type of fault will now be displayed by the 6 hot water content LEDs , as presented in the following table:

(*) the third LED indicates whether or not the off-peak contact was correctly installed.
Third LED "on" if off-peak contact on.
Third LED "off" if off-peak contact out.
If the third LED is off during the off-peak period, the fault lies in the installation of the off-peak contacts.
When installing the device without off-peak contact, the third LED is always on.
Note
In an “error condition”, the device is out of order.
In the case of an “anode fault” or a “potentiometer fault”, the device can be manually activated for a heating cycle by pressing the “fast-heating” button. In this case the device heats until a water temperature of 40^ C is reached. The device heats at the installed power for single-power and boiler mode connections, for double-power connections it heats according to the basic load of the connection, at 1kW, 2kW or 3kW.
If the fault could not be remedied, please contact the customer service operators.
Note
When the device is full with water and functions normally (there are no faults apparent), the device cannot be separated from the mains voltage, otherwise the external power source anode stops functioning and the device rusts through. For complaints of this nature, the warranty and guarantee do not apply.
After the assembly, please present the user with the instructions for use and explain the device to them.

Your new device
The hot water storage units DG80025 – DG15025 with electronic control are designed for the heating of drinking water according to DIN 1988.
They can provide hot water to 85^ C and, depending on the mode of operation, service one or more taps (tapping points). The water is heated electrically. On the control panel the current amount of available hot water is displayed by 6 LEDs. The hot water storage units are equipped with an active, electronic corrosion protector (external power source anode).
Control Panel

- anode LED anode
- service LED service
- fast-heating LED →
- fast-heating button
- heat content LEDs
- water temperature dial
Service and Operation
The hot water temperature may be set between ^* and 85^ C using the dial. We recommend the setting of 60^ C. Heat wastage and calcification are lowest here.
Upon reaching the set temperature all 6 thermal capacity indicators LEDs light up. As hot water is extracted the amount of hot water available in the reservoir decreases. The less hot water available, the fewer LEDs are lit up.
The heating period is dependent upon the volume of water in the reservoir, the cold water intake temperature, and the set heat output.
See technical data table (page 15)
The hot water storage unit may be used optionally for
closed (pressurised) operation
suitable for service of multiple tapping points
open (de-pressurised) operation
suitable for service of one tapping point
There are three variations of electrical connections to choose from:
Single-power operation
Reheating occurs automatically subject to the power supply.
The button "fast-heating" is only used for the reset and diagnostic routine functions (technician).
Double-power operation
During off-peak periods, the hot water storage unit automatically heats the
contents of the reservoir at the configured basic performance. The quick heating may be activated by pressing the fast-heating button Ⓞ. As the device is heating up the LED → lights up, before going out again as soon as the set temperature is reached. The 'fast-heating' switches itself off automatically.
Boiler mode operation
In this mode the hot water storage unit heats the contents of the reservoir once upon the initial operation at the connected and configured basic performance. Each further heating procedure must be started manually by pressing the button fast-heating ☐.
LED display anode and service
In normal operations, the LED “anode” is constantly lit, the LED “service” service is off.
If one of the two LEDs flashes, this indicates an "error condition".
To begin with, please reset the device → RESET. To do this, proceed as follows:
Firstly turn the dial ⏻ to the setting "●".
After that, press the "fast-heating" button Ⓞ.
If the cause of the error condition does not exist directly after the reset, the device will again return to its normal mode of function. Otherwise the device will again indicate an “error condition”.
In this case please contact the customer service operator.
Cleaning
- Wipe with a damp cloth. Do not use any sharp or coarse cleaning products.
- Do not use a steam cleaner.
