Frequently Asked Questions - 16130102 Swarovski Melissa

What should I do before first use?
Before first use, fill the kettle with water to the MAX mark, boil it, and discard the water. Repeat this process three times to clean the interior.
How do I descale the kettle?
Mix 100 ml acetic acid with 300 ml cold water (or use a commercial descaler). Pour into the kettle, boil twice, then discard. Rinse by boiling fresh water three times.
Why does the kettle turn off automatically before boiling?
This is the boil-dry protection. If the water level is below MIN or the kettle is empty, it will switch off automatically. Fill water to above MIN to reset.
Can I use the kettle without the base?
No, the kettle must always be placed on the supplied base to operate. It is cordless only for easy pouring.
How do I clean the kettle?
Unplug and let cool. Wipe exterior with a damp cloth and mild detergent. Do not immerse in water. For interior, use descaling solution only.
What does the indicator light mean?
The indicator lamp lights up when the kettle is heating and turns off when the water has boiled and the kettle automatically switches off.
Can I open the lid while the kettle is boiling?
Avoid opening the lid during boiling because of hot steam. Press the release button only after the kettle has switched off and cooled slightly.
The plug is damaged – can I still use the kettle?
No. If the plug or cord is damaged, stop using immediately. Have it repaired by an authorized technician. Never try to replace the plug yourself unless you are qualified.
How do I store the kettle properly?
Ensure kettle is clean and dry. Wrap the cord around the inside of the base. Store in a dry, cool place away from heat sources.
What is the warranty period?
The warranty covers manufacturing defects under normal household use. It does not cover misuse, tampering, or damage from incorrect supply voltage. Contact your retailer for specific terms.

  • Do not submerge in water or any other liquid.
  • Do not switch the appliance on unless there is water in it.
  • Water level must always be between "MIN" and "MAX". Check water level using the internal water level indicator.
  • Never leave unattended when in use, and keep an eye on children.
  • Avoid touching the outside of the kettle when in use, as it becomes hot. Touch the handle and lid only. Be careful of hot steam when opening the lid.
  • Never touch the appliance or base station if your hands are wet or damp.

PRIOR TO FIRST USE

Before using for the first time (or after a long period of storage), fill and boil the appliance three times.

  1. Read the safety instructions through carefully.
  2. Fill with water to the MAX mark on the inside.
  3. Switch on as described under "Using the Appliance". Allow the water to boil.
  4. Pour the water out once it has boiled.

Repeat steps 2-4 twice more. The appliance is now ready for use.

USING THE APPLIANCE

  1. Open the lid (3) by pressing the release button (4).
  2. Pour fresh water into the kettle. The appliance must be filled up to the minimum mark ("MIN") and contain no more than up to the maximum mark ("MAX"). The marks are on the inside of the appliance.
  3. Close the lid and ensure it clicks into place.
  4. Place the kettle on its base (10) by positioning it so the stud on the base (2) fits into the hole on the underside of the kettle.
  5. Plug the base in (9) and check that it is switched on at the wall.

o Caution! If you set the on/off switch (6) to the "I" position before replacing the kettle on the base, the kettle switches on automatically when replaced on the base. For safety's sake, check the on/off switch position before replacing the kettle on the base to avoid accidentally starting the kettle.

  1. Switch on the appliance by switching the on/off button to "I". The indicator lamp (5) will be on when the appliance is on and heating the water.

The water will boil within a few minutes, depending on the amount in the kettle. If you want to interrupt the boiling, you can do this at any time by switching the on/off button to "O". Once the water is boiling, the kettle will automatically switch off thanks to the integrated thermostat. The indicator lamp will go out when the appliance is switched off and the on/off button will revert to "O".

Anti boil-dry device

If you switch the kettle on without there being any water in it or when the water level is below "MIN", the anti boil-dry device will automatically switch it off. The kettle can be switched on normally as soon as it is filled with a sufficient amount of water.

Storage

If the kettle is to be stored for any length of time without use, the cord can be rolled up around the inside of the base. Ensure the appliance is clean and dry before storing.

CLEANING

When cleaning the appliance, you should pay attention to the following points:

  • Remove the plug from the wall socket and allow the appliance to cool down before cleaning.
    • Do not immerse in water or any other liquid.
  • Wipe using a well-wrung cloth and hot water. A little detergent can be added if the appliance is heavily soiled.
  • Never use scouring powder, steel scourers or other strong cleaning agents to clean the interior or exterior surfaces of the appliance, as they may scratch the surfaces.
    • Make sure that no water gets into the connector on the base or the hole in the underside of the kettle.

Descaling

The lime content of ordinary tap water means limescale may gradually be deposited inside. This limescale may be loosened using acetic acid (NOT ordinary vinegar) or descaler, available in supermarkets, etc.

  1. Mix 100 ml acetic acid with 300 ml cold water, or follow the instructions on the descaler packaging.
  2. Pour the solution into the kettle and switch it on.
  3. Allow the solution to boil twice and then pour it out.
  4. To remove the final residues of limescale and acetic acid, pour cold water into the kettle again (up to the "MAX" mark) and switch it on.
  5. Pour the water out once it has boiled.
  6. Repeat the process described under points 4-5 three times.

The appliance now ready for use.
