Frequently Asked Questions - NF-811 Noyafa

How to trace a network cable using the NF-811?
Connect the cable to the transmitter's RJ45 port, set the transmitter mode to SCAN, and press the SCAN button on the receiver. Adjust the volume (0-8) to hear the tone clearly. For noisy environments, use the earphone or turn on the side switch on the receiver.
How to perform wire mapping (continuity test) on a network cable?
Connect both ends of the cable to the transmitter and receiver via RJ45 ports. Set the transmitter to CONT mode. For a normal UTP cable, LEDs 1-8 will light up; for STP cables, LEDs 1-G will light up. Note: This test cannot detect crossed or shorted cables.
How to test telephone line condition?
Connect the telephone cable to the transmitter's RJ11 port and set the transmitter to SCAN mode. The SCAN LED indicates: GREEN/RED steady = clear, GREEN/RED flickering = busy, OFF = ringing.
How to check telephone polarity?
Set the transmitter to OFF (middle position). Connect the crocodile clips to the RJ11 port, then attach the red and black clips to the telephone wires. RED LED = positive (red clip is positive), GREEN LED = negative (red clip is negative).
What batteries does the NF-811 use and how long do they last?
Each unit uses one 9V battery (NEDA 1604/6F22). The package includes two batteries. Battery life depends on usage; typical working current is 30 mA for transmitter and 80 mA for receiver, so a standard 9V battery should last several hours of continuous use.
What is the maximum distance for tracing cables?
The NF-811 can trace cables up to 2 kilometers in optimal conditions. Factors like cable type, interference, and noise may reduce effective range.
Can the NF-811 test live cables?
No. The manual warns: Never connect live circuits above 60V DC to the RJ11 or RJ45 ports to avoid damaging the device. Always ensure cables are de-energized before testing.
What do the LEDs on the transmitter indicate?
In CONT mode, the CONT LED flashes and wiremap LEDs (1-8, G) show continuity. In SCAN mode, the TONE LED lights and the SCAN LED indicates telephone line status (steady for clear, flickering for busy, off for ringing).
How to adjust the volume on the receiver?
Use the volume knob on the receiver, which allows adjustment from 0 to 8. In noisy environments, increase volume; if the tone is too loud, decrease it. An earphone can also be plugged in for private listening.
What accessories are included with the NF-811?
The package contains: transmitter (tone generator), receiver (amplifier probe), earphone, carry bag, RJ11 adapter cable, RJ45 adapter cable, crocodile clip, two 9V batteries, and a user manual.

Cable Tracing function(eg : Network cable)

  1. The tested cable should insert into the RJ45 port with the transmitter;
  2. Put the button to "SCAN" position on the main tester, if the scan indicator lights up, that means the battery power is properly;
  3. Press the "SCAN" button on the receiver, and trace the connected cable on the main tester If the voice is not hear clearly, should adjust the volume from 1-8.
  4. During the testing, if you can't find the target cable easily, please insert the earphone and separate the surrounding lines because they are too close to each other and there will be signal interference that prevents you from finding the target cable;
  5. When you work in noisy or dark environments, you can turn on the switch on the right of the receiver.

Caution : Never connect live circuit (>60V DC) to the RJ11 or RJ45 port avoid burn out the device !
