Frequently Asked Questions - 129503 Equip

What cable types can the Equip 129503 test?
The tester supports RJ11, RJ12, RJ45, and ISDN cables.
How do I insert the battery?
Remove the battery cover on the MASTER unit, then connect the provided battery clip to a 9V block battery and place it inside.
Does the REMOTE unit need a battery?
No, the REMOTE unit operates without a battery; only the MASTER unit requires power.
What do the LEDs indicate?
The LEDs on both units light up sequentially to show continuity for each pin (1-8). The G LED indicates shield continuity.
How do I test a crossover cable?
Connect the cable to both units. In crossover mode, the expected LED sequence is 1-4-3-2-5-6-7-8 on the REMOTE unit.
What if the green strobe LED does not light up?
First, replace the 9V battery in the MASTER unit. The REMOTE unit has no battery.
Can I test live (energized) cables?
No, only test unenergized cables. Measuring live lines can damage the device and pose an electrical hazard.
What is the difference between FAST and SLOW test modes?
In FAST mode, the tester continuously scans all pins. In SLOW mode (switch position 'S'), it steps through each pin one by one.
How should I clean the cable tester?
Use a dry, lint-free cloth. Do not use any liquids or solvents, as they may damage the device.
What is the intended use of this device?
It is designed for fast testing of ISDN, RJ11, RJ12, and RJ45 cables, checking continuity, configuration, and shielding.
