What is the H-Tronic TS 2-1000?

What is the maximum load?
The relays can switch a load up to 3000 W (16 A at 230 V/AC) total. For higher loads, use external contactors.
How do I calibrate the sensor?
Use the Sensor adjustment mode to enter offset corrections. R-Offset compensates for cable resistance (0-50 Ω), T-Offset adjusts the displayed temperature (-50°C to +50°C) for each sensor separately.
What maintenance is required?
The device is maintenance-free. Periodically check sensors for dirt or corrosion and clean gently. To clean the unit, disconnect from mains and use a soft, lint-free cloth. No other servicing is needed.

USER MANUAL TS 2-1000 H-Tronic

The unIVersal TemperaTure sWITch Tsm 2100 is ideal for all applications where a precise temperature control in heating or cooling is required. The unit can be used in the form of an independent monitor, as a frost guard, as a substitute for defective mechanical thermostats or as a digital thermometer. If the temperature ranges outside of the preset window, a relay will switch each channel individually after an adjustable time between 0-8 hrs. Another relay can also be connected to an alarm system. An internal beeper will also give an alarm signal if required.

1 designaTed use

The device is designed to switch a connected device (230 V \~ / 50 Hz, Max. 16A, 3000VA) according to a preprogrammed temperature. The temperature switching range is adjustable from -99°C to +850°C in steps of 1°C. Any other use is not permitted.

This device:

- may only be used with the current of 230 VAC/50Hz.

- may only be used in dry and clean rooms.

It may not be used in rooms with high humidity.

- may not be subjected to mechanical strain or mounted in dusty locations.

- may not be modified or reworked in any way differing from the original version.

Should these mentioned points not be followed,

then there is a danger of short-circuit and/or electrocution.

2 FeaTures

The universal Temperature Switch TSM 2100 with seven different functions is ideal for all applications where a precise temperature control in heating or cooling is required. External temperature sensors will detect temperatures from -99°C to +850°C. The programmable switching temperature can be adjusted in 1°C increments. The blue, two line LCD display shows the programmed switching temperatures, the current temperature, the setting parameters and the min/max temperature. The device is not only understandable and easy to use but also contains a number of safety features. A short-circuit within the sensor cable or a defective sensor are immediately indicated on the device. The unit can also be used in the form of an independent monitor, as a frost guard, as a substitute for defective mechanical thermostats or as a digital thermometer. In addition, the device has a separate Min/Max alarm setting. If the temperature ranges outside of the preset window, a relay will switch each channel individually after an adjustable time between 0-8 hrs. Another relay can also be connected to an alarm system. And internal beeper will also give an alarm signal if required. All parameters are adjustable.

3 general saFeTy InsTrucTIOns

  • This device should not be handled or installed by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience (including children) other than if supervised by a trained, responsible person.
  • Children may not play with this device and should be supervised when present.
  • This device may only be connected to a properly installed power socket. The voltage must match the specifications depicted on the nameplate of the unit or mentioned in this instruction manual.
  • Keep the mains power cord away from sharp edges, moisture, heat or oil.
  • Do not connect the device if the power cord is damaged. In order to avoid a hazard or electrocution, a damaged power cord must be replaced immediately by our service centre or a similarly qualified person.
  • If the power cord is damaged unplug the device immediately and replace the power cord accordingly by our service centre or a similarly qualified person.
  • Unplug the device if it is not used over a longer period of time.

  • Keep the packing material and the plastic bags away from infants. There is a danger of suffocation.

  • When installing the device, install all cables so that they do not become a tripping hazard or can accidentally be pulled out.
  • When disconnecting the device from the mains, pull the plug out of the socket. Do not pull at the power cord.

4 saFeTy InsTrucTlOns

When handling electrical devices, the VDE regulations have to be applied. Especially VDE 0100, VDE 0550/0551, VDE 0700, VDE 0711 and VDE 860. - This device may not be modified in any way. The CE conformity has been declared and proven and the corresponding document is deposited with the manufacturer.

  • Before opening the device, please disconnect it from the mains and/or make sure that it is not connected to an electrical current.
  • Tools may only be used if the device is disconnected from the mains.
  • All connecting cables should regularly be inspected for any damages on the insulation.
  • Should any damages be found, disconnect the device immediately from the mains and repair or exchange it.

malFuncTION

Only use the device if it is functioning without disturbance. If there is any malfunction, switch off the device immediately and consult a specialist. The device may only be reinstalled after it has been checked thoroughly. Signs of malfunction are if:

– The device is visibly damaged.

- The device is malfunctioning.

- Attached cables or the housing has become loose.

Repairs may only be done by a qualified person or a specialist

using original components and parts. There is the danger of electrocution.

5 mOuntIng

The installation may only be done by a qualified person who has knowledge of the current guidelines and regulations!

nOTe: Please make sure that all electricity has been switched off before starting the installation. Make sure only components are used which are either in the packing or described in this manual. This is for your safety.

  • This device may only be operated in enclosed, dry areas.
  • The device is designed for permanent wall mounting. A properly installed 230 V socket must be located in the near vicinity of the temperature switch. The device may only be installed by a competent person or a qualified electrician.
  • If this device is installed to control a load that can cause a danger in the event of malfunction, additional safety measures are required.
  • Make sure that all devices are connected according to their instruction manuals. Under certain circumstances the connection to another device (e.g. protective conductor to ground) can cause extreme surges.
  • Keep the device away from spray- or rainwater, dust and direct sunlight.
  • When mounted in industrial facilities, the accident prevention regulations for electrical systems and equipment of the professional associations must be followed.
  • In schools, training centers, clubs and workshops the operation of modules

must be monitored by responsible, trained personnel.
- If the device needs to be repaired only genuine spare parts may be used! The use of other components may result in serious personal injury and damage.
- When the mains plug of the device is inserted into a correctly mounted, 230 V, earthed socket (connect without load), the lighting of the seven segment display signals the operational readiness of the device.

This product is designed for mounting on dry and clean walls. Make sure that this product is mounted on a stable surface.

The device is designed as a class 2 product. Please make sure that, if the connected devices are not class 2 products, the PE is connected according to VDE or applicable regulations.

When the device is connected with the main power supply the main menu will automatically open the display. Depending on the chosen mode and the settings a submenu is accessible in which various parameters can be changed. Changes can be made with the buttons ▲▼ and confirmed that the button "OK". All input values and data will be stored. In the case of a power loss the device will keep the data and return to the selected mode. Changes can be made by pressing the "ESC" button.

6.1 MENU STRUCTURE/DATA INPUT

A menu can consist out of multitude of lines and is indicated has a list. Only one line is shown at a time. The other lines can be accessed by pressing the buttons ▲▼. If the value is changed, the change needs to be confirmed by pressing the button OK. If values cannot be changed, then this will be indicated in the display.

7 FUNCTION MODE „THERMOMETER N1“

In this mode the temperature of the thermometer module NI is measured and the value displayed. The maximum and minimum temperature can be reset by pressing a button "OK"

The single parameters have the following meanings:

T1 EIN (On)

In this menu you can enter a temperature at which a connected device is to be switched ON. Fist, press button OK. The value can be changed with the buttons ▲▼, now. The selection is confirmed by pressing the button "OK" and the device will move to the next menu point.

T1 AUS (Off)

In this menu you can enter a temperature at which a connected device is to be switched OFF. Press button OK. The value can now be changed with the buttons ▲▼. The selection is confirmed by pressing the button "OK" and the device will move to the next menu point.

T1 Alarm Min

In this menu you can enter a minimum temperature at which an alarm will be sounded. Press button OK. The value can now be changed with the buttons

T1 Alarm Max

In this menu you can enter a maximum temperature at which an alarm will be sounded. Press button OK. The value can now be changed with the buttons

Relay Status at malfunction

In this menu you can define the action of the relay REL1 and ALARM 1 if a malfunction is detected. Options are:

  1. ON

  2. OFF

  3. No changes to existing status.

The value can be changed with the buttons ▲▼. The selection is confirmed by pressing the button "OK" and the device will move to the next menu point.

Piezo

In this menu you can define the action of the piezo speaker if a malfunction is detected. Options are:

  1. ON

  2. OFF

The value can be changed with the buttons ▲▼. The selection is confirmed by pressing the button "OK" and the device will move to the next menu point.

Start mode

After all inputs have been made the mode is started by confirming this menu point.

Note N1: input values for the temperature range from -99°C to +850°C

Note N2: the input mode can be left at all times by pressing the button ESC

Note N3: if a button is not pressed the duration of 10 seconds in the programming mode, the device will automatically return to the function mode without saving the values that have already been input.

8 FUNCTION MODE "HEATING" AND "COOLING"

The relay ALARM is switched ON if the measured temperature is higher or equal to T ALARM Max or lower or equal to T ALARM Min. The relay ALARM is switched OFF if the measured temperature is higher than T ALARM Min or lower than T ALARM Max.

8.1 FUNCTION MODE "HEATING"

The function "Heating" is active if the programmed switching ON temperature is lower than the switching OFF temperature.

The relay is switched OFF if the measured temperature is equal or higher than T OFF.

The relay is switched ON if the measured temperature is lower or equal to T EIN.

The relay ALARM is switched ON if the measured temperature is higher or equal to T ALARM Max or lower or equal to T ALARM Min.

8.2 FUNCTION MODE „COOLING“

The function "Cooling" is active if the programmed switching ON temperature is higher than the switching OFF temperature.

The relay is switched ON if the measured temperature is equal or higher than T EIN.

The relay is switched OFF if the measured temperature is lower or equal to T AUS.

The relay ALARM is switched ON if the measured temperature is higher or equal to T ALARM Max or lower or equal to T ALARM Min.

Note: if the programmed switching ON and switching OFF temperatures are identical then the device will execute the function "Thermometer". The relays REL and ALARM not switched.

An example for the functions "Heating" and "Cooling"

Example HEATING: you have a heating system which you would like to run as a temperature of 21°C with a hysteresis of +2°C. The input values would be as follows: switching ON value T1 EIN = 21°C and switching OFF value T1 AUS = 23°C. If the temperature reaches or drops beneath 21°C, the relay will switch the heating on. At 23° the relay will switch the heating off.

Example COOLING: you have a cooling system which you would like to run as a temperature of 21°C with a hysteresis of +2°C. The input values would be as follows: switching ON value T1 EIN = 23°C and switching OFF value T1 AUS = 21°C. If the temperature reaches or drops beneath 23 °C, the relay will switch the cooling on. At 21 °C the relay will switch the cooling off.

MODE "THERMOSCHALTER N1 / N2" (THERMO SWITCH N1/N2)

In this mode both external temperature sensors are used at the same time. The settings and the functional use are similar to the mode "Thermoschalter N1".

MODE "TEMP.-DIFF."

In this mode the device can be set as the temperature switch, allowing you to control external devices such as solar panels. The temperature of the solar panel and the temperature of the hot water storage tank are measured resulting in a temperature difference. If the outputs of the temperature switch are connected to circulation pumps, then the pumps can be started and stopped as soon as temperature differences in the solar system occur.

Hysteresis

The hysteresis for the temperature difference value. Value range: 1–20°C

Maximal temperature value for the hot water storage tank

11 INPUT MODE "ZIRKO-KONTROLL" (CONTROLLING THE CIRCULATION PUMPS)

In this mode the device can be configured as an energy saving controller for a circulation pump in hot water and heating systems. To do this the temperature sensors are mounted onto the inflow and outflow pipes. The measured temperature difference between inflow and outflow can be used to control a circulation pump.

The parameters have the following meanings:

Temperature T1 and T2

In this menu the temperature measured at the sensor T1 and the sensor T2 is displayed.

dT (T1-T2)

In this menu the measured temperature difference at the sensor T1 and the sensor T2 is displayed.

Interval-Timer

This menu shows the pump interval time value.

Laufzeit Timer

This menu shows the running time of the pump.

T1 Min/Max

In this menu the highest and lowest measured temperature at the sensor T1 is displayed.

T2 Min/Max

In this menu the highest and lowest measured temperature at the sensor T2 is displayed.

T1 Alarm Timer

In this menu the alarm delay time of the sensor T1 is displayed.

T2 Alarm Timer

In this menu the alarm delay time of the sensor T2 is displayed.

All other parameters have the same meaning as in the menus mentioned before. Every menu point can be changed.

12 MODE "MANUELL" (MANUAL)

In this mode all for relays (|REL1, REL2, ALARM1, ALARM2) can be switched manually on and off.

13 MODE "SENSORABGLEICH" (CALIBRATING THE SENSOR)

This menu allows the calibration of the sensors and the connecting cables to the sensors.

The parameters have the following meanings:

Sensor 1 R-Offset:

This input allows the offset correction of the resistance within the wire leading to sensor 1.

Adjustable value: 0 - 50Ω

Sensor 1 T-Offset:

This input allows the offset correction for sensor 1. This value is added/deducted from the shown temperature value T1.

Adjustable value: -50ircC to +50ircC

Sensor 2 R-Offset:

This input allows the offset correction of the resistance within the wire leading to sensor 2.

Adjustable value: 0 - 500

Sensor 2 T-Offset:

This input allows the offset correction for sensor 2. This value is added/deducted from the shown temperature value T2. Adjustable value: -50ircC to +50ircC

14 MODE "ZURÜCKSETZEN" (RESET)

In this mode all input parameters can be reset to factory settings.

15 ERROR MESSAGES

The device can show the following messages:

Error N1

H-Tronic TS 2-1000 - Error N1 - 1

Err 1 shows that a short-circuit has been detected in the thermometer sensor or that the measured value is below -99°C.

Error N2

H-Tronic TS 2-1000 - Error N2 - 1

Err 2 shows that a thermometer sensor is not connected or that the measured temperature is higher than 850°C.

Error N3

H-Tronic TS 2-1000 - Error N3 - 1

Err 3 shows that the data coming from the thermometers sensor is corrupted.

Note: if an error occurs all relays are set to OFF.

16 MAINTENANCE

The device is basically maintenance free. All sensors should be checked at regular intervals for dirt or corrosion and consequently be cleaned. The full function of the device can be guaranteed, if the device and the sensors are serviced and activated at regular intervals.

CLEANING

Clean the device the soft lint free cloth. The cloth may be dampened slightly if the device is very dirty. To clean the device, make sure that it is disconnected from the mains

MALFUNCTION

Only use the device if it is functioning without disturbance. If there is any malfunction, switch off the device immediately and consults a specialist. The device may only be reinstalled after it has been checked thoroughly. Signs of malfunction are if:

  • The device is visibly damaged.
  • The device is malfunctioning.

- Attached cables or the housing has come loose.

Repairs may only be done by a qualified person or a specialist using original components and parts. There is the danger of electrocution.

17 WARRANTY

The dealer/manufacturer from which you have purchased this device gives a guarantee for material and function of the device for two years. Should functional defect occur, then the dealer/manufacturer has the right to repair or exchange the device. All exchanged devices are property of the dealer/manufacturer. The customer is committed to indicating any defects immediately together with the purchasing invoice.

The dealer/manufacturer cannot be made liable for defects or malfunctions that occur due to incorrect handling, incorrect mounting, incorrect assembly, the use of non-authorized components or unauthorized changes applied to the device. He can also not be made liable if the instruction manual has not been read and followed. In this case also all rights for guarantee will be void.

The dealer/manufacturer cannot be made liable for any costs and risks occurring through transport, mounting, assembly or any consequential repairs and/or costs.

The guarantee is void and the device will be returned to you at your cost if:

  • Changes have been made to the device.
    – Unauthorized repairs have been made to the device.
  • The layout has been changed without consulting the manufacturer.
  • Original components have not been used.
  • The instruction manual has not been followed.
