Frequently Asked Questions - HL 2500 Cocraft

How do I switch between blower and vacuum modes?
Turn the blower/vacuum selector (item 5) anticlockwise for blower mode and clockwise for vacuum mode. Ensure the selector is fully in one position, not in between, and the bag is not full.
How do I empty the collection bag?
Switch off and unplug the machine. Undo the zip on the back of the bag and shake out the contents. For storage, detach the bag by pressing the two tabs, turn it inside out, and wash yearly with mild detergent.
What should I do if the motor does not start?
Check the wall socket fuse (min 10 A, slow-blow), inspect the extension cable for damage, and reset the RCD if tripped. If the problem persists, contact customer services as the motor or switch may be faulty.
How do I adjust the air speed?
Use the speed control dial (item 12) on the rear handle. Turn it backwards for higher speed and forwards for lower speed, with 6 as maximum and 1 as minimum.
Can I use the leaf blower/vacuum in the rain?
No, do not use in rain or leave outdoors while raining. The symbol on the product indicates this. Water entering the tool increases the risk of electric shock.
What type of extension cord should I use?
Use a weatherproof extension cable with a conductor cross-sectional area of at least 1.5 mm² and a maximum length of 25 m. For longer runs, use at least 2.5 mm². Always fully unwind the cord and use an RCD.
How do I clean the leaf blower/vacuum?
Switch off and unplug. Clean the ventilation openings with a soft brush to prevent overheating. Remove the chute and clean the fan blades regularly. Wipe the exterior with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent.
What is the mulching ratio?
The leaf blower/vacuum crushes leaves to about 1/10 of their original volume, meaning a 45 L bag can hold the equivalent of 450 L of uncompacted leaves.
What safety precautions should I follow?
Always wear safety goggles, hearing protection, and sturdy footwear. Keep bystanders and pets away. Never point the blower at people or animals. Use an RCD for electrical safety. Switch off and unplug before cleaning or servicing.
What is the weight of the product?
The leaf blower/vacuum weighs 3.8 kg (approximately 8.4 lbs). It comes with an adjustable shoulder strap for comfortable carrying.

Safety

General Safety Instructions

Warning: Read all the instructions.

Failure to adhere to the following instructions may lead to electric shocks, fires and/or serious injury.

SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS.

The term “power tool” in the following text refers to your handheld mains operated or battery operated tool.

1) Work area safety

a) Keep the work area clean and well illuminated. Cluttered and poorly lit areas invite accidents.
b) Do not use power tools in explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. Power tools create sparks which may ignite dust or fumes.
c) Keep children and other bystanders away from the area where you are using the power tool. Distractions can cause you to lose your concentration and control.

2) Electrical safety

a) The plug of the power tool must fit correctly into the wall socket. Never modify the plug in any way. Never use an adaptor plug together with earthed power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shocks.
b) Avoid physical contact with earthed objects such as pipes, radiators, ovens and refrigerators. There is an increased risk of electric shock if your body is earthed.
c) Do not expose the power tool to rain or other wet conditions. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock.
d) Do not abuse the mains lead. Never use the lead for carrying, pulling or unplugging the power tool. Keep the lead away from heat, oil, sharp edges and moving parts. Damaged or tangled leads increase the risk of electric shock.

e) When using power tools outdoors, use an extension lead that is suitable for this purpose. The use of an extension lead designed for outdoor use decreases the risk of electric shocks.
f) If the use of the power tool in a wet environment is unavoidable, a wall socket equipped with a residual current device (RCD) should be used.
The use of an RCD (with a tripping current of 30 mA and which trips within 30 ms) significantly reduces the risk of electrocution.

3) Personal safety

a) Pay attention to what you are doing and use common sense when using power tools. Never use power tools if you are tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication. One moment of inattention while using a power tool may result in a serious injury.
b) Wear protective clothing. Always wear safety glasses. Using protective clothing such as dust masks, non-slip safety shoes, helmets and ear defenders decreases the risk of injury.
c) Avoid accidental starts. Make sure that the power switch is set to OFF before plugging the power tool into a wall socket, fitting the battery or picking up/carrying the power tool. Carrying a power tool with your finger on the power switch/trigger or connecting the power tool to a wall socket when the power switch is set to ON is inviting an accident.
d) Remove all service tools/keys before switching on the power tool. A service tool left on a rotating part of the power tool may result in personal injury.
e) Do not overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. This enables better control of the power tool in unexpected situations.
f) Wear suitable clothing. Do not wear loose-fitting clothing or jewellery. Keep hair, clothes and gloves away from moving parts. Loose-fitting clothes, jewellery or long hair could become caught in moving parts.
g) If equipment for the extraction and collection of dust is available, make sure it is connected and used properly. Use of dust collection equipment can reduce dust related hazards.

4) Use and maintenance of the power tool

a) Do not force the power tool. Use the correct power tool for your application. The correct power tool will do the job better and safer if used at the rate for which it was designed.

b) Never use the power tool if the power switch does not switch the tool on and off properly. Any power tool that cannot be controlled by the power switch is dangerous and must be repaired.

c) Unplug the lead from the wall socket or remove the battery before making any adjustments, changing accessories or storing the power tool. These precautions reduce the risk of the power tool starting unexpectedly.

d) Store power tools that are not being used out of children's reach. Do not allow people who are unfamiliar with the tool or these instructions to operate the tool. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users.

e) Properly maintain your power tools. Check for misalignment, binding of moving parts, broken parts or anything else which might affect the operation of the power tool. If damaged, have the power tool repaired before use.

Many accidents are caused by poorly maintained power tools.

f) Keep cutting tools sharp and clean. Properly maintained cutting tools with sharp cutting edges are less likely to bind and are easier to control.

g) Use the power tool, and any accessories in accordance with these instructions, taking into account the working conditions and the work to be performed.

Use of the power tool for a purpose other than that for which it is intended could result in a dangerous situation.

5) Service

a) Repairs and service should only be performed by qualified tradesmen, and only with original spare parts. This guarantees that the safety of the power tool is maintained.

Guidelines for general use

  • The leaf blower/vac should not be pointed towards the ground, any people or animals when the motor is switched on.
    • Vacuum only dry grass and dry leaves.
  • Hold the leaf blower/vac firmly in both hands.
  • Do not aim the blower tube at cars or other objects with painted or sensitive surfaces.
  • Be careful, so that the air blown out doesn't damage the bark of any trees or plants that you want to keep.
  • If necessary, first use a rake to loosen any leaves stuck to the ground before using the leaf blower/vac.

  • Check the ventilation openings of the motor regularly. Remove any material that may cause the motor to overheat.

  • Switch the leaf blower/vac off, unplug it and empty the leaf bag frequently (do not leave leaves in the bag until next time). Detach the bag, turn it inside out and shake out all the contents. Wash the bag every year (by hand with a mild detergent) and let it air-dry.

Leaf blowing

Note: The mode selector should be easy to move between settings. If it is stiff, the bag may be full and need emptying. The mode selector must always be set to either blower or vacuum, not in between.

  1. Turn the selector (5) anticlockwise for the blower mode.
  2. Hold the leaf blower/vac firmly in both hands and push the on/off switch (1) forwards to start. Adjust the speed using the speed control (12) on the rear handle.
  3. Blow leaves and debris forwards in front of you to collect them in one place. The blower can also be used to displace leaves from hard to reach places.
  4. Slide the on/off switch (1) backwards to switch the leaf blower/vac off.

Leaf vacuuming

Warning: Do not vacuum water, glass, metal, hard objects, ash or hot embers, as these can be harmful to the operator and to the machine.

Vacuumed leaves are crushed in the fan and compacted to about 1/10 of their original volume. The leaf collection bag can therefore become quite heavy.

Note: The mode selector should be easy to move between settings. If it is stiff, the bag may be full and need emptying. The mode selector must always be set to either blower or vacuum, not in between.

  1. Turn the selector (5) clockwise for the vacuum mode.
  2. Hold the leaf blower/vac firmly in both hands and push the on/off switch (1) forwards to start. Adjust the speed using the speed control (12) on the rear handle.
  3. Hold the leaf blower/vac about 5 cm above the leaves to be vacuumed.
  4. Move the chute from side to side, walk forwards and turn slowly. Stop working if the bag feels heavy.
  5. Slide the on/off switch (1) backwards to switch the leaf blower/vac off.

Emptying the leaf collection bag

Cocraft HL 2500 - Emptying the leaf collection bag - 1

Warning: Switch off and unplug the leaf blower/vac before emptying the bag. When the leaf bag is nearing capacity the suctioning effect will be greatly reduced and the bag must be emptied:

  • Switch off the leaf blower/vac and unplug it:
  • Undo the zip on the back of the bag and shake out the contents.
  • Always remove the bag before putting the leaf blower/vac away for storage. Press the two tabs shown by the arrows in to release the bag.
  • Detach the bag, turn it inside out and shake out all the contents. Make sure that the bag is dry and intact before refitting it.

Cocraft HL 2500 - Emptying the leaf collection bag - 2

natural_image Close-up of a person using a spray gun to adjust the product (no visible text or symbols)

If the vacuum effect drops despite the bag not being full, check if the chute or fan is blocked by leaves. Clear the chute or fan of leaves as follows:

  1. Switch the leaf blower/vac off, unplug it and let it stop completely.
  2. Detach the chute and the leaf bag.
  3. Carefully remove the blockage and check that the fan blades and other parts are not damaged.
  4. Turn the fan blades carefully by hand to check that they can rotate freely.
  5. Refit the chute and leaf bag.

Find a comfortable working position

Put the shoulder strap (6) over your shoulder and adjust the length until you can carry it comfortably.

Storage and maintenance

Warning: Make sure that the leaf blower/vac is switched off and unplugged before cleaning.

  • Clean the ventilation openings of the motor using a soft brush to stop the motor overheating.
  • Remove the chute and clean the fan blades regularly using a soft brush. Check that the fan blades are undamaged.
  • Store the leaf blower/vac indoors, in a dry place out of children's reach.
  • Clean the exterior of the leaf blower/vac with a soft damp cloth and mild detergent. Never clean the product using solvents or abrasive cleaning agents.
  • Make sure that the leaf bag is dry and undamaged before storing the leaf blower/vac.
