How do I set the temperature on my Bomann GT 7337 freezer?
Turn the temperature control knob clockwise from the '0' position. Settings 1-7 correspond to temperature ranges from approximately -8°C to -25°C. For initial operation, set to the highest level (7) until desired temperature is reached, then adjust to a medium setting for optimal energy efficiency.
What does the running indicator light mean?
The control lamp (labeled 'RUNNING' on the knob) lights up when the compressor is operating. It indicates that the freezer is actively cooling.
How do I defrost the freezer?
Disconnect the appliance from power. Remove food and place it in a cool location. Open the water discharge channel at the front and bottom, place a drip tray underneath. Use the included ice scraper to speed up melting. Once ice has melted, wipe dry and reconnect.
Can I store bottles or cans in the freezer?
No, do not store bottles or cans as they may break or explode when the contents freeze, especially carbonated drinks. Only store food in appropriate packaging.
How do I clean the freezer?
Always unplug first. Clean the interior and exterior with lukewarm water and a mild detergent, or a damp microfiber cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners, wire brushes, or steam cleaners. Clean the drain channel with a pipe cleaner. Wipe dry before restarting.
What should I do if the freezer is making loud noises?
Check if the appliance is level. Normal sounds include mumbling (compressor), liquid sounds (refrigerant circulation), and clicking (thermostat). If noises are disturbing, ensure no shelves or coils are vibrating and that the unit is on a stable surface.

After transport, the appliance should be left standing upright for four hours before connecting to the power supply. Nonobservance could lead to malfunction of the cooling system and causes an appliance breakdown.

Clean the appliance interior including all accessory parts. Consider the instructions which we provide in the chapter "Cleaning and Maintenance".

Starting the appliance

  • Connect the appliance to the power supply.
  • Set the operating conditions. See also the following sections.

Control overview
RUNNING 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 0 1 2 3 4 5 6 7

1 Control lamp lights up when the compressor is running.
2 Temperature control regulates the freezer temperature.

Settings

Position [0] means that the appliance is in the switched-off state. Turn the temperature control clockwise from this position, the appliance switches on automatically.

The power level [1-7] control the different values of the internal temperature.

Power levelTemperature range
1approx. -8°C ~ -12°C
2, 3approx. -12°C ~ -15°C
4approx. -15°C ~ -18°C
5, 6approx. -18°C ~ -20°C
7*approx. -20°C ~ -25°C

*Beware at level 7: the compressor is running continuously.

Basically, the temperature changes depending on the ambient temperature (place of installation), the frequency of opening the door and the equipment.

For initial operation, first set the lowest possible internal temperature (= highest power level) until the appliance has reached the desired operating temperature. It is recommended to reset to a medium power level afterwards, then you can easily make any temperature correction.

Recommendation, for optimized food storage and to avoid food waste, a medium power level is generally best. A high power level also increases energy consumption.

To be able to check the cooling performance, you ideally need a freezing thermometer. Place it in the freezer basket.

The ideal temperature is -18^ . A less cold temperature setting may shorten food durability.

Equipment

The freezer basket facilitates the sorting of small-sized frozen food and allows faster access to frequently needed frozen food.

BOMANN GT 7337 - Equipment - 1

The basket can be filled up to the top edge.

Depending on your needs, the freezer basket can be removed to optimize storage space or for cleaning purposes.

Storing food

NOTE: Recommendation!

To guarantee that the temperature is low enough, you should pre-cool the appliance a few times before initial loading foods.

CAUTION:

Always pay attention to the storage instructions on the sales packaging.

The 4-star freezer allows you to store frozen food at a temperature of -18°C or colder for several months; to prepare ice cubes and to freeze fresh food.

To avoid contamination of food, respect the following instructions:

  • Opening the door for long periods can cause a significant increase of the temperature in the compartments of the appliance.
  • Clean regularly surfaces that can come in contact with food and accessible drainage systems (see "Cleaning and Maintenance").
  • Store raw meat and fish in suitable containers in the refrigerator, so that it is not in contact with or drip onto other food.
  • Two-star frozen-food compartments are suitable for storing pre-frozen food, storing or making ice-cream and making ice-cubes.
  • One-, two- or three-star compartments are not suitable for the freezing of fresh food.
  • If the appliance is out of use for long period, follow the instructions under "Switching off".

Freezing

  • CAUTION, refer to the enclosed product data sheet for the maximum amount of food in kg that can be frozen in 24 hours. If the quantity is greater, the quality of the freezing and the already frozen food will be affected.
  • Fresh food should be frozen as fast as possible to the core. During freezing operation, the temperature of fresh food should be lowered as fast as possible to keep formation of ice crystals as little as possible and not to damage the food structure.
  • Keep a space between the individual items, so that the cold air can circulate.

Storing frozen food

  • Packed frozen merchandise should be stored in accordance with the manufacturer's data. Make sure the food items do not defrost after purchase and to store them as fast as possible in the freezer.
  • It is possible to store food for longer periods of time. The period might vary, so observe the storage information on the packaging of the merchandise.

General safety precautions

  • Do not store bottles or cans. These can break when the contents freeze – or even explode if they contain carbonated drinks.
  • Once products have been defrosted halfway or completely, they should be consumed as soon as possible and should not be frozen again, except they have been processed to a ready meal.
  • Do not eat food that is still frozen. Do not eat ice cream directly from the freezer. The cold can cause injuries in the oral cavity.
  • Touching metal parts inside the unit can cause symptoms like burns if the skin is very sensitive.
  • Never touch frozen food with moist or wet hands.

Packing frozen food

Always select packaging suitable for the food and pack it properly.

  • Freeze in portions. Suitable for packaging are e.g. plastic films, polyethylene tubular films, aluminum foil, freezer cans.
  • The packaging must be impermeable to air and moisture.

  • Press the air out of the package.

  • Seal the package tightly with e.g. rubber rings, plastic clips, twine or cold-resistant adhesive tapes.

- Label the package with contents and freezing date.
