1. Important Safeguards

CAUTION: Please read all of these instructions before you operate your projector. Save these instructions for future reference.

Electric energy can perform many useful functions.

This projector has been engineered and manufactured to meet applicable safety standards. IMPROPER USE CAN RESULT IN POTENTIAL ELECTRICAL SHOCK OR FIRE HAZARDS. In order not to defeat the safeguards incorporated into this projector, observe the following basic rules for its installation, use and servicing.

1. Unplug the projector from the wall outlet before cleaning or lamp replacement.
2. Do not use liquid cleaners or aerosol cleaners. Use a soft dry cloth to clean the projector unit. If the unit is very dirty, wet a cloth with neutral detergent, squeeze it tight, wipe the unit with it, and finish by wiping with a dry cloth. Do not use a chemical duster or polisher-cleaner because it can adversely affect the unit and peel the paint.
3. Do not use attachments not recommended by PHILIPS, as they may cause hazards.
4. Do not use the projector near water- for example, near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, or laundry tub, in a wet basement, near a swimming pool, etc. Never spill liquid into the projector.
5. Do not place the projector on an unstable cart, stand, or table. The projector may fall, which may cause serious injury to a child or an adult and/or serious damage to the unit. Use only with a cart or stand recommended by its manufacturer as being suitable for use with a projector.
6. Ceiling, wall or shelf mounting should be done with a mounting kit approved by the manufacturer for use with a projector and should follow the manufacturer's instructions.
7. Projector equipment and cart combinations should be moved with care. Quick stops, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the equipment and cart combination to overturn.
8. Slots and openings of the cabinet are provided for ventilation. To ensure reliable operation of the projector and to protect it from overheating, these openings must not be blocked or covered. These openings should never be covered with cloth or other material. The bottom opening should not be blocked by placing the projector on a bed, sofa, rug, or other similar surface. The projector should not be placed near or over a radiator or heating vent. The projector should not be placed in a built-in installation such as a bookcase unless proper ventilation is provided.
9. The projector should be operated only from the type of power source indicated on the bottom of the projector or in the specifications and with the appropriate power cord. If you are not sure of the type of power supplied to your business or the right type of power cord, consult your projector dealer or local power company.
10. Do not allow anything to rest on the power cord. Do not place the projector where the cord will be walked on.
11. Follow all warnings and instructions marked on the projector.

12. As a safety feature, this projector is equipped with the power cord with a 3-pin grounded plug (for USA-versions only) or a 2-pin grounded plug (for European versions only). The 3-pin/2-pin grounded plug will fit only into a grounding type power outlet. If the plug does not fit, use an adapter that is properly grounded or have an electrician install a grounded type outlet. Do not attempt to modify this AC plug.

13. For added protection of the projector during a lightning storm, or when it is left unattended or not in use for long periods of time, unplug it from the wall outlet and disconnect any cable systems. This will prevent damage to the projector due to lightning and power-line surges.

14. Do not overload wall outlets and extension cords with too many products, because this can cause a fire or electric shock.
15. Never push objects of any kind into the projector through cabinet slots as they may touch dangerous voltage points or short cut parts, which could result in a fire or electric shock.

16. Do not attempt to service the projector yourself other than maintenance issues presented in section "Maintenance". Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltage or other hazards. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

17. Unplug the projector from the wall outlet and refer servicing to qualified service personnel under the following conditions:

A. When the power cord or plug is damaged or frayed.
B. If liquid has been spilled into the projector.
C. If the projector has been exposed to rain or water.
D. If the projector does not operate normally when you follow the operating instructions. Adjust only those controls that are covered by the operating instructions; improper adjustment of other controls may cause damage and will often require extensive work by a qualified technician to restore the projector to normal operation.
E. If the projector has been dropped or the cabinet has been damaged.
F. When the projector exhibits a distinct change in performance – (this indicates a need for service).

1. Upon completion of any service or repairs to the projector, ask the service technician to perform a routine safety check to check that the projector is in safe operating condition.

2. When replacement parts are required, be sure the service technician has used replacement parts specified by the manufacturer that have the same characteristics as the original parts. Unauthorized substitutions may result in fire, electric shock, or other hazards.

3. It is recommended to clean the air filter after every 100 lamp hours. The projector may become too hot if the filter is not cleaned when required.

4. If the lens becomes dirty or smudged, clean it with a clean, dampened cloth. Never touch the lens with your fingers.

5. Do not look directly into the aperture and lens while operating the projector as this may damage your eyes.

1. Important Safeguards

NOTES ON OPERATION

• The exhaust vent, the lamp cage cover and adjacent areas may be extremely hot during projector operation. To prevent injury, do not touch these areas until they have sufficiently cooled.
• Do not put any flammable object or spray can near the projector. Hot air is exhausted from the ventilation holes.

Note:

The cooling fan regulates the internal temperature, and its performance is automatically controlled. The sound of the fan may change during projector operation due to changes in the fan speed.

- Provide appropriate space on the top, sides and rear of the projector cabinet for allowing air circulation and cooling the projector. Minimum clearance must maintained. If the projector is to be built into a compartment or similarly enclosed, the minimum distances must be maintained. Do not cover the ventilation slot on the projector. Heat build-up can reduce the service life of your projector, and can also be dangerous.

CAUTION CONCERNING THE SETUP OF THE PROJECTOR

For minimal servicing and to maintain high image quality, Philips recommends that this projector be installed in an area free from humidity, dust and cigarettesmoke. If the projector is used in these environments, the lens and filters will need to be cleaned (or the filter replaced) more often, and internal cleaning may become necessary. As long as the projector is regularly cleaned, use in these environments will not reduce the overall operation life of the unit. Internal cleaning should only be performed by a Philips Authorised LCD Projector Dealer or Service Centre.

INSTALLING THE PROJECTOR IN THE PROPER POSITION.

Install the projector properly. Improper Installation may reduce the lamp lifetime and cause a fire hazard.

Do not tilt the projector more than 20 degrees to either side.

Do not point the projector up to project an image.

Do not point the projector down to project an image.

Do not put the projector on either side to project an image.

Connecting AC Power cord

This projector uses nominal input voltages of 100-120 V or 200-240 V AC. This projector automatically selects the correct input voltage. It is designed to work with single-phase power systems having a grounded neutral conductor. To reduce risk of electrical shock, do not plug into any other type of power system. Consult your authorized dealer or service station if you are not sure of the type of power supply being in use. Connect the projector with peripheral equipment before turning the projector on. (Refer to pages 15 \~ 16 for connection.)

CAUTION

For safety, unplug AC power cord when the projector is not used. When this projector is connected to the outlet with AC power cord, it is in Stand-by Mode and consumes a little electric power.

Connect AC power cord (supplied) to the projector. The AC outlet must be near the projector and easily accessible.

Note:AC power cord must meet requirement of the country where you use the projector.Confirm the AC plug type with the chart below and proper AC power cord must be used.If supplied AC power cord does not match your AC outlet, contact your sales dealer.

Positioning the Projector

• This projector is designed to project on a flat projection surface.
• The projector can be focused from 4.1' (1.2m) \~ 32.8' (10.0m).
• Refer to the figure below to adjust the screen size.

Note:

The brightness of a room has a great influence on image quality. It is recommended to limit ambient lighting to provide the best image.

Lens Shift Adjustment

The Projection lens can be moved up and down with motorised lens shift function. This function makes it easy to move up and down the projected image to an optimum position. Refer to page 21 for operation.

Adjustable Feet

Picture tilt and projection angle can be adjusted by rotating the Adjustable Feet. Projection angle can be adjusted up to approximately 10 degrees.

1 Lift the front of the projector and pull the Feet Lock Latches on both sides of the projector.
2 Release the Feet Lock Latches to lock the Adjustable Feet and rotate the feet to fine-tune position and tilt.
3 To retract the Adjustable Feet, lift the front of the projector and pull and undo the Feet Lock Latches.

Note:

• When you adjust the image vertical level, adjust it with the Lens Shift function ahead of using the adjustable feet.
• When the height of the projector is adjusted, the image may be distorted.(keystoned). This keystone distortion can be adjusted by Menu Operation. (Refer to P21 and 36.)

Moving the Projector

Use the Carry Handle when moving the projector.

When moving the projector, attach the Lens cap and retract the Adjustable Feet to prevent damage to the lens and cabinet.

When the projector is not in use for an extended period, put it into the case (or cover with the supplied dust cover).

CAUTION

Dust Cover (supplied) is intended to protect from dust and scratches on the surface of a cabinet, not from external forces. Do not transport the projector through a courier or transport services with this cover. The projector can be damaged. When handling the projector, take care not to drop, bump, subject it to strong forces or put other things on the cabinet.

Remote Control Operation

Basic operation and preparation of the remote control are provided in the ProntoNEO RU 930 User Guide. Read the manual thoroughly for proper operation. Make sure to install the batteries into the remote control before use.

Operation

1. Press the Device Button to show the Device Overview screen.
2. Tap Proj. PXG 30 to go into the Projector Menu.
3. Main Menu (1st page) will be displayed. Select a menu page by using Page up / down buttons or directly tap the soft buttons (lens, feature and mouse) on the LCD touch screen. Regarding the name and function of each button, refer to page10 and 11.

Changing the Remote Control Codeset

Eight selectable codes are provided for the remote control (code 1 \~ code 8). Code 1 is set by default.

1. Press and hold the Mode button for 3 seconds when the Projector Menu is displayed. The Mode screen will appear.

2. Tap Brand on the Mode screen. An instruction screen appears indicating you can set the projector's codeset.

3. Tap Next to define your projector's codeset. The code set screen appears.

4. Enter the Codeset No. from the right table and press OK to complete the setting.

- If the codeset is correct, you will hear a confirmation beep.

- If you enter an incorrect code number, you will hear an error beep and an error message screen will appear. In this case, press OK and look up the correct codeset number. Then repeat this procedure.

* To get back to the Projector Menu, tap Use button on the mode screen.

Operating Range

Point the remote control toward the projector (IR sensors) when pressing any button. Maximum operating range for the remote control is about 16.4' (5m) and 60° in front and rear of the projector.

1 Display the On-Screen Menu

Press Menu button to display the On-Screen Menu.

2 Select an item to adjust the value

Press Cursor Left/Right button to select a Menu icon to adjust. Press Cursor Up/Down button to select an item to adjust. (The selected icon is highlighted in orange.)

3 Adjust the value of the selected item

Press OK button to show the Item Data. Press Cursor Left/Right to adjust the Data.

Turning On / Off the Projector

Turning On the Projector

1 Complete peripheral connections (with a computer, VCR, etc.) before turning on the projector. (Refer to "Installation" on page 15\~16)
2 Connect the projector's AC power cord into an AC outlet. The Power Indicator lights red(dim), and the Standby Indicator lights green.

Note: When "On start" function is ON, this projector is turned on automatically when connecting the AC power cord to an AC outlet. (Refer to page 37.)

3 Press Standby/On button on the top control or on button on the remote control. The Power Indicator dims, and the cooling fans start to rotate. Preparation Display appears on the screen and count-down starts. The signal from a PC or video source comes up after 30 seconds. Current Input position and Lamp mode status are also displayed on the screen for 5 seconds. (Refer to "Lamp mode" on page 37.)

Turning Off the Projector

1 Press Standby/On button on the top control or off button on the remote control. The message "Power off?" appears on the screen.
2 Press Standby/On button on the top control or off button on the remote control again to turn off the projector. The Power Indicator turns bright red and the Standby Indicator turns off. The cooling fans remain running for 90 seconds after the projector is turned off. During this "Cooling Down" period, the projector cannot be turned on.
3 When the projector has been cooled down, the Standby Indicator lights on again and you can turn on the projector. Then AC power cord can be disconnected if necessary.

To maintain the lamp-life, once you turn on the projector, wait at least 5 minutes before turning it off.

Power off?

Message disappears after 4 seconds.

When "Power management" function is ON, the projector turns off its lamp when the signal is interrupted and no button is pressed for a certain period. Refer to "Power management" on page 37.

When the Temperature Warning Indicator flashes red, the projector will automatically shut itself off. Wait at least 5 minutes, and confirm if the Standby Indicator will light on and the projector can be turned on by pressing the Standby/On button. If the Temperature Warning Indicator continues to flash, refer to the section "Maintenance" on page 39 to take a proper maintenance.

Adjusting the Screen

Zoom Adjustment

- Top Control

Press Lens button and select Zoom function. Press Cursor Up/Down to adjust the image

- Remote Control

Press zoom - / + button to adjust the image.

Focus Adjustment

- Top Control

Press Lens button and select Focus function. Press Cursor Up/Down to adjust the focus of the image.

- Remote Control

Press focus - / + button to adjust the focus of the image.

Note:

Focus adjustment may not function properly if the image is corrected by Keystone adjustment.

Lens Shift Adjustment

- Top Control

Press Lens button and select Lens shift function. Press Cursor Up/Down to move up / down the image.

- Remote Control

Press lens shift - / + button to move up / down the image.

Keystone Adjustment

If a projected picture has keystone distortion, correct the image with Keystone adjustment.

1 Press D-keyst button on the remote control or select Keystone on Setting menu. (Refer to page 36.) Keystone dialog box appears.
2 Correct the keystone distortion by pressing Cursor Up/Down/Left/Right button(s). Press Cursor Up button to reduce the upper part of the image, and press Cursor Down button to reduce the lower part. Press Cursor Left button to reduce the left part, and press Cursor Right button to reduce the right part.

Zoom

The message disappears after 4 seconds.

Focus

The message disappears after 4 seconds.

Lens shift

• The arrows are white in no correction.
• The arrow(s) of direction being corrected turn(s) orange.
• The arrow(s) disappear(s) at the maximum correction.
• If you press reset button on the remote control while the keystone dialog box is being displayed, the keystone adjustment will be canceled.

Reduce the upper width with Cursor Up button.

Picture Freeze Function

Press D-freeze button on the remote control to capture a moving picture. To cancel, press D-freeze button once again or press any other button.

A/V Mute Function

Press AV Mute button on the top control or the remote control to black out the image and to mute the sound. To restore to normal, press AV Mute button again or press any other button.

SmartTimer Function

Press timer button on the remote control. The timer display "00 : 00" appears on the screen and the timer starts to count time (00 : 00 \~ 59 : 59).

To stop the timer display, press timer button. Press again to cancel this function.

A/V Mutc

Message disappears after 4 seconds.

Sound Adjustment

Direct Operation

- Volume

Press Volume + / - button(s) on the top control or on the remote control to adjust volume. Volume dialog box appears on the screen for a few seconds.

+ button for increasing volume, and – button for decreasing.

- Mute

Press Mute button on the remote control to mute the sound. To restore sound to its previous level, press Mute button again or press Volume + / - button(s).

Menu Operation

1 Press Menu button to display the On-Screen Menu. Press Cursor Left/Right buttons to select Sound Menu icon.

2 Press Cursor Down button to select the item to be adjusted, and then press OK button.

Volume

To increase volume, press Cursor Right button, and press Cursor Left button to decrease volume.

Mute

Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to mute the sound. Dialog box display is changed to "On" and sound is muted. To restore sound to its previous level, press Cursor Left/Right button(s) again.

Indicates approximate level of volume. Volume 12 Mute Off Press Mute button to set Mute function On or Off.

The display disappears after 4 seconds.

SOUND MENU

Volume 15 Off Sound Menu icon Indicates approximate level of volume. Close Sound Menu.

Selecting Input Source

Direct Operation

Select an Input source by any of the followings:

• Press Data button on the top control or CH+ button on the remote control. The button toggles among Data1, Data2 and Data3.
• Press D1, D2 or D3 button on the remote control.

If the projector cannot project properly, select a correct input source following the Menu Operation as shown below.

Note:

Data 3(D3) cannot be selected when Data (Out) is set as Data 3 source. Refer to the "Menu Operation" below.

Selecting Computer System

This projector accepts various kinds of computer signals including VGA, SVGA, XGA and SXGA. By selecting a Data input as a signal source, it automatically detects the signal format and tune itself to project a proper image without any additional settings. (Signal formats provided in this projector is shown on Page 49.)

Note : The projector may display one of the following messages.

Auto

When the projector cannot recognize connected signal as PC system provided in this projector, Auto Image Adjustment function operates to adjust the projector and the message "Auto" is displayed on System Menu icon. (Refer to page 25.)

There is no signal input from a computer. Make sure the computer and the projector are properly connected. (Refer to "Installation" on page 15.)

PC Adjustment

Auto Image Adjustment

Auto Image Adjustment function is provided to automatically conform Fine sync, Total dots and Picture Position to your computer. This function can be operated as follows.

Auto Image

1 Press Menu button to display the On-Screen Menu. Press Cursor Left/Right button to select PC Adjust Menu icon.
2 Press Cursor Down button to select Auto Image icon and then press OK button twice. This Auto Image can be also executed by pressing auto button on the remote control.

*To store adjusted parameters.

Parameters adjusted with Auto Image function can be stored in this projector. Once parameters are stored, the setting can be done just by selecting Mode in PC System Menu (P24). Refer to step 3 of "Manual PC Adjustment" section (P27).

PC ADJUST MENU

Auto Image SVGA 1 PC Adjust Menu icon Select Auto Image icon and press OK button.

Note:

• Fine sync, Total dots and Picture Position of some computers can not be fully adjusted with Auto Image function. In this case, manual adjustments will be required. (Refer to page 26, 27.)
• Auto Image function cannot be operated when "RGB", "1035i (HDTV)", "1080i (HDTV)" is selected on PC System Menu (P24).

Manual PC Adjustment

This projector can automatically tune the display signals from the most of personal computers currently distributed. However, some computers employ the special signal formats which may not be tuned by SmartSet of this projector. In this case, the image may be recognized as a flickering picture, a non-synchronized picture, a non-centered picture or a skewed picture, and projected improperly.

The Manual PC Adjustment function allows you to manually adjust several parameters to match these special signal formats. Also, you can store these adjusted parameters in the 5 independent memory areas, enabling you to call up whenever you need.

1 Press Menu button to display the On-Screen Menu. Press Cursor Left/Right button to select PC Adjust Menu icon.
2 Press Cursor Down button to select the item to adjust and then press OK button. Adjustment dialog box will appear. Press Cursor Left/Right button to adjust the value.

Fine sync

Adjusts an image as necessary to eliminate flicker from the display. Press Cursor Left/Right button to adjust value.(From 0 to 31.)

Total dots

Adjusts the number of total dots in one horizontal period. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to adjust the number to match your PC image.

Horizontal

Adjusts horizontal picture position. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to adjust the position.

Vertical

Adjusts vertical picture position. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to adjust the position.

Current mode

Press OK button to show the information of the selected computer.

Clamp

Adjusts clamp level. When the image has a dark bar(s), try this adjustment.

PC ADJUST MENU

Display area

Selects the area displayed by this projector. Select the resolution at Display area dialog box.

Display area H

Adjusts the horizontal area displayed by this projector. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to decrease/increase value and then press OK button.

Display area V

Adjusts the vertical area displayed by this projector. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to decrease/increase value and then press OK button.

Full screen

Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to switch Full screen function to "On" or "Off." Set "On" to resize the image with 4 x 3 aspect ratio to fit the screen.

Note: Fine sync, Display area, Display area H, Display area V and Full screen cannot be adjusted when "RGB", "1035i (HDTV)", "1080i(HDTV)" is selected on PC System Menu (P24).

Store

To store adjusted parameters, select Store icon and press OK button. Select any of Mode 1 to 5 that you want to store to and then press OK button.

Mode free

To clear adjusted parameters previously set, select Mode free icon and press OK button. Select the Mode that you want to clear and press OK button.

Reset

Resets all the adjusted parameters on adjustment dialog box to previous figure.

Quit

Closes PC Adjust Menu.

Normal

Provides image to fit screen size.

True

Provides an image in its original size. When the original image size is larger than the screen size (1024 x 768), this projector automatically enters "Digital zoom +" mode.

Wide

Provides image to fit wide video aspect ratio (16:9) by expanding image width uniformly. This function can be used for providing a squeezed video signal at 16:9.

Digital zoom +

When Digital zoom + is selected, the On-Screen Menu disappears and the message "D-Zoom +" is displayed. Press OK button to expand image size. And press Cursor Up/Down/Left/Right button(s) to pan the image. Panning function can work only when the image is larger than screen size.

A projected image can be also expanded by pressing D-zoom + button on the remote control.

Digital Zoom -

When Digital zoom – is selected, the On-Screen Menu disappears and the message "D-Zoom –" is displayed. Press OK button to compress the image size.

A projected image can be also compressed by pressing D-zoom – button on the remote control unit.

To cancel Digital Zoom +/- mode, press any button except D-zoom +/-, OK, Cursor buttons.

Note:

– Picture screen adjustment cannot be operated when "1035i (HDTV)", "1080i (HDTV)" is selected on PC System Menu (P24).
- Wide cannot be selected when "720p (HDTV)" is selected on PC System Menu (P24).
- True and Digital zoom +/- cannot be operated when "RGB" is selected on PC System Menu (P24).
- This projector cannot display any resolution higher than 1280 X 1024. If your computer's screen resolution is higher than 1280 X 1024, reset the resolution to the lower before connecting the projector.
- The image data in other than XGA (1024 x 768) is modified to fit the screen size in initial mode.
- Panning function may not operate properly if the computer system prepared on PC Adjust Menu is used.

Select Input source by any of the followings:

• Press Video button on the top control. Press CH- button on the remote control. (The button toggles among Auto, Video, S-video and Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr.)

  * The projector decides the priority by socket connection, not by incoming signals.

Video

When video input signal is connected to Video socket, select Video.

S-Video

When video input signal is connected to S-video socket, select S-Video.

Y,Pb/Cb,Pr/Cr

When video input signal is connected to Y-Pb/Cb-Pr/Cr sockets, select Y, Pb/Cb, Pr/Cr.

When the image is distorted, select Keystone. The On-Screen Menu disappears and Keystone dialog box is displayed.

Store ... Store the keystone adjustment data even if disconnecting AC power cord from an AC outlet.

Reset … Reset the keystone adjustment data when disconnecting AC power cord from an AC outlet.

Correct keystone distortion by pressing Cursor Up/Down/Left /Right button(s). Refer to Keystone Adjustment on page 21.

Blue back

When this function is "On," the projector will produce a blue image instead of the video noise on the screen when any input source is unplugged or turned off.

Display

This function decides whether to display On-Screen Displays.

On … shows all the On-Screen Displays.

Off .... sets On-Screen Displays disappeared except;

Logo

When this function is "On," projector displays Philips logo when starting up.

Ceiling

When this function is "On," picture is top / bottom and left / right reversed. This function is used to project the image from a ceiling mounting the projector.

Power management

Power Management is a SmartSave function for reducing power consumption as well as maintaining the Lamp-life. When the input signal is interrupted and any button is not pressed over 5 minutes, the Projection Lamp will be automatically turned off. (This function is set "On" by default.)

This function operates as follows;

1. When any input signal is interrupted, the message "No signal" is displayed and the counting down display appears (for 5 minutes).
2. After counting down for 5 minutes, the Projection Lamp and Standby Indicator will be turned off. (Cooling Fans keep running.)
3. The Standby Indicator starts to flash after cooling down the Projection Lamp for 90 seconds (Power Management mode). In this Power Management mode, Projection Lamp is automatically turned on when the input signal is connected or the projector is operated with any button on the top control or on the remote control again.

On start

When this function is "On," the projector is automatically turned on just by connecting AC power cord to a wall outlet.

Note ; Be sure to turn projector off properly (refer to the section "Turning Off the Projector" on P20). If the projector is turned off in the wrong steps, On Start function does not operate properly.

Lamp mode

When selecting the “☐” (Eco), the projector reduce the brightness and set into the low power consumption mode.

Remote control

Eight different remote control codesets are provided in this projector.(Code1\~Code8) Code 1 is set by default. This function is provided for avoiding mutual interference of the remote controls when operating several projectors or video equipment together. Select your desired code from Code 1 to Code 8.

* When you change the codeset of the projector, you must also change that of the remote control in accordance with the table on Page17.

Lamp counter reset

This function is used to reset Lamp Replace Counter. When replacing Projection Lamp, reset Lamp Replace Counter by using this function. Refer to page 42 for operation.

Operating the Wireless Mouse

The remote control is able to not only operate this projector but also function as a wireless mouse for most Personal Computers. Left button, Right button and Cursor buttons in the mouse menu are used for wireless mouse operation.

This Wireless Mouse function is available only when PC mouse pointer is displayed on a projected screen. When the On-Screen Menu or any message / dialog box is displayed on the screen, this function does not work.

Installation

To use the remote control as the wireless mouse for a personal computer. Make sure that the mouse driver is properly installed in your computer and its USB port (or mouse port) is activated.

1 Connect the USB port (or mouse port) of your computer to the USB socket (or RS-232C socket) of the projector with the supplied USB Cable (or Serial Cable).
2 Turn on the projector, and then turn on your computer. When the computer is switched on first, Wireless Mouse may not work properly.

Serial RS-232C USB USB Use either of these cables according to the terminal of your computer.

Operating the Wireless Mouse

When controlling a PC mouse pointer, operate Wireless Mouse with Cursor buttons, Left button and Right button on the remote control.

Cursor buttons

Used to move PC mouse pointer. The pointer is moved corresponding with the direction you are pressing.

Left button

This button has the same function as the left button on a PC mouse.

Press this button and the Cursor button to drag a selected screen object.

Right button

This button has the same function as the right button on a PC mouse.

Temperature Warning Indicator

The Temperature Warning Indicator flashes red and the projector will automatically shut down when the internal temperature of the projector exceeds normal level. At this time, the Standby Indicator lights off and the Temperature Warning Indicator continues flashing. After cooling-off period, the Standby Indicator lights on again and the projector can be turned on by pressing the Standby / On button on the top control or on button on the remote control. If the Temperature Warning Indicator continues to flash, check the followings:

• Ventilation Slots of the projector may be blocked. In such an event, reposition the projector so that Ventilation Slots are not obstructed.
• Air Filters may be clogged with dust particles. Clean the Air Filters by following the section "Air-filter Care and
• If the Temperature Warning Indicator remains on after performing the above checks, Cooling Fans or the Internal Circuits may be malfunctioning. Contact a Philips Authorised LCD Projector Dealer or Service Centre.

Ensure the Standby Indicator is lighted when turning on the projector. If the temperature is not lowered enough, the Temperature Warning Indicator flashes and the projector will shut down again.

When both of the Temperature Warning and Standby Indicators are flashing

When the projector detects an internal problem, it will shut itself down and both the Temperature Warning and Standby Indicators start flashing. In this condition, the projector cannot be turned on even if you press Standby/On button on the top control or on button on the remote control. If this case happens, disconnect and connect the AC power cord, and then turn on the projector again to check its operation. If the projector shuts itself down again or fails to be turned on, the internal check and repair will be required. Plug off the AC power cord and contact a Philips Authorised LCD Projector Dealer or Service Centre. Do not leave the AC power cord plugged into the AC outlet. It may cause fire hazard or accident.

Air-filter Care and Cleaning

The Air Filters prevent dust from accumulating on the surface of the Projection Lens and the Projection Mirror. Should Air Filters become clogged with dust particles, it will reduce Cooling Fans' effectiveness and may result in internal heat build up and adversely affect the life of the projector. Clean the Air Filters as follows:

1 Turn off the projector, and disconnect AC power cord from the AC outlet.
2 Turn the projector upside down and remove three Air Filters by pulling the latches upward.
3 Clean the Air Filters with a brush or wash out dust and particles.
4 Replace three Air Filters properly. Make sure that the Air Filters are fully inserted.

CAUTION

Do not operate the projector with the Air Filters removed. Dust may accumulate on the LCD Panel and Projection Mirror degrading picture quality.

Do not put any objects into the Air Intake Vents. It may result in malfunction of the projector.

Recommendation:

For minimal servicing and to maintain high image quality, Philips recommends that this projector be installed in an area free from humidity, dust and cigarettesmoke. If the projector is used in these environments, the lens and filters will need to be cleaned (or the filter replaced) more often, and internal cleaning may become necessary. As long as the projector is regularly cleaned, use in these environments will not reduce the overall operation life of the unit. Internal cleaning should only be performed by a Philips Authorised LCD Projector Dealer or Service Centre.

Cleaning the Projection lens

Follow these steps to clean the Projection Lens:

1 Apply non-abrasive camera lens cleaner to a soft, dry cleaning cloth. Avoid using excessive amount of the cleaner. Abrasive cleaners, solvents or other harsh chemicals might scratch the surface.
2 Lightly wipe a cleaning cloth over the Projection Lens.
3 When the projector is not in use, attach the Lens Cap.

Lamp Replacement

When the life of the Projection Lamp of this projector draws to an end, the Lamp Indicator lights yellow. If this indicator lights yellow, replace the projection lamp with a new one promptly.

CAUTION

For continued safety, replace with a lamp assembly of the same type. Do not drop the lamp assembly or touch the glass bulb! The glass can shatter and may cause injury.

Cool the projector down, for at least 45 minutes before opening the Lamp Cover. The inside of the projector can become very hot.

Follow these steps to replace the lamp assembly.

1 Turn off the projector and disconnect the AC plug. Allow the projector to cool for at least 45 minutes.
2 To remove the Lamp Cover, unscrew the screw with a screwdriver.
3 Loosen 2 screws with a screwdriver and pull out the Lamp Assembly by grasping Handle.
4 Replace the Lamp Assembly with a new one and tighten the 2 screws back into position. Make sure that the Lamp Assembly is set properly. Replace Lamp Cover and tighten the screw.
5 Connect AC power cord to the projector and turn on the projector.
6 Reset the Lamp Replace Counter. Refer to "Lamp Replace Counter Reset" on the next page.

12. Maintenance

Lamp Replace Counter Reset

Be sure to reset the Lamp Replace Counter after the Lamp Assembly is replaced. When the Lamp Replace Counter is reset, the Lamp Indicator will light off.

1 Turn the projector on, press Menu button to display the On-Screen Menu. Press Cursor Left/Right button(s) to select Setting Menu icon (refer to page 36, 37).
2 Press the Cursor Down button to select Lamp counter reset and then press the OK button. The message "Lamp replace counter reset?" is displayed. Select [Yes] and then press the OK button.
3 Another confirmation dialog box appears and select [Yes] to reset Lamp Replace Counter.

LAMP HANDLING PRECAUTIONS

This projector uses a high-pressure lamp which must be handled carefully and properly. Improper handling may result in accidents, injury, or create a fire hazard.

• Lamp lifetime may differ from lamp to lamp and according to the environment of use. There is no guarantee of the same lifetime for each lamp. Some lamps may fail or terminate their lifetime in a shorter period of time than other similar lamps.
• If the projector indicates that the lamp should be replaced, i.e., if the LAMP INDICATOR lights up, replace the lamp with a new one IMMEDIATELY after the projector has cooled down. (Follow carefully the instructions in the LAMP REPLACEMENT section of this manual.) Continuous use of the lamp with the LAMP INDICATOR lighted may increase the risk of lamp explosion.
• A Lamp may explode as a result of vibration, shock or degradation as a result of hours of use as its lifetime draws to an end. Risk of explosion may differ according to the environment or conditions in which the projector and lamp are being used.

IF A LAMP EXPLODES, THE FOLLOWING SAFETY PRECAUTIONS SHOULD BE TAKEN.

If a lamp explodes, disconnect the projector's AC plug from the AC outlet immediately. Contact an authorized service station for a checkup of the unit and replacement of the lamp. Additionally, check carefully to ensure that there are no broken shards or pieces of glass around the projector or coming out from the cooling air circulation holes. Any broken shards found should be cleaned up carefully. No one should check the inside of the projector except those who are authorized trained technicians and who are familiar with projector service. Inappropriate attempts to service the unit by anyone, especially those who are not appropriately trained to do so, may result in an accident or injury caused by pieces of broken glass.

Troubleshooting

Before calling your dealer or service center for assistance, check the matters below once again.

• Make sure you have properly connected the projector to peripheral equipment as described in the section "Installation" on page15 and 16.
• Make sure all equipment is connected to AC outlet and turned on the power.
• When you operate the projector with a computer, and it does not project an image, restart the computer.

The Power Indicator lights bright and the Standby Indicator turns off.2. After 90 seconds, the Standby Indicator lights green again and the projector may be turned on by pressing Standby/On button.- Check the Temperature Warning and the Standby Indicator. If both indicators flash, the projector cannot be turned on.(Refer to the section "Maintenance" on page 39.)- Check the Projection Lamp. (Refer to page 41.)
Image is out of focus.	- Adjust focus of the projector.- Make sure the projection screen is at least 4.1' (1.2m) from the projector.- Check the Projection Lens to see if it needs cleaning.Note : Moving the projector from a cool temperature location to a warm temperature location may result in moisture condensation on the Projection Lens. In such an event, leave the projector OFF and wait until condensation disappears.
Picture is Left/Right reversed.	- Check Ceiling / Rear feature. (See "Other Settings" section on page 36.)
Picture is Top/Bottom reversed.	- Check Ceiling feature. (See "Other Settings" section on page 36.)
Some displays are not seen during the Operation.	- Check Display feature.(See "Other Settings" section on page 36.)
No image.	- Check the connection between your computer or video equipment and the projector.- It takes about 30 seconds to display an image after turning on the projector.- Check if the selected system is corresponding with your computer or video equipment.- Make sure the temperature is not out of the Operating Temperature (5°C ~ 35°C).
No sound.	- Check audio cable connection from audio input source.- Adjust the audio source.- Press Volume + button.- Press Mute button.
Data 3 in cannot be selected.	- Check the Data 3 in / Data Out socket is set as Data 3 in. ( See "Computer Input" section on page 23 )
Computer signal not output from Data Out	- Check the Data 3 in / Data Out socket is set as Data Out in. ( See "Computer Input" section on page 23 )
The Remote Control does not work.	- Check the batteries.- Make sure no obstruction is between the projector and the remote control.- Make sure you are not too far from the projector when using remote control.Maximum operating range is 16.4' (5m).- Make sure the code of the remote control is conformed to the projector.(See “Other Settings” section on page 36, 37.)
Wireless Mouse function does not work.	- Check cable connection between the projector and your computer.- Check the mouse setting on your computer.- Turn the projector on before turning on a computer.

If the problem still persists after following all operating instructions, contact a Philips Authorised LCD Projector Dealer or Service Centre. Give the model number and explain the difficulty. Advice to obtain service will be given.

High voltages are used to operate this projector. Do not attempt to open the cabinet.

Indicators and Projector Condition

[ZKKX]				The temperature inside the projector is abnormally high. The projector cannot be turned on. When the projector is cooled down enough and the temperature returns to normal, the Standby Indicator lights on and the projector can be turned on. (The Temperature Warning Indicator keeps flashing.) Check and clean the Air Filter.
[708T]	[K00H]		[TKBW]	The projector is cooled down enough and the temperature returns to normal. When turning on the projector, the Temperature Warning Indicator stops flashing. Check and clean the Air Filter.
[340C]			[YYTK]	The projector is being cooled down. It cannot be turned on until the Standby Indicator lights on.
		[DBKA]		The projector detects an abnormal condition and cannot be turned on. For details of this symptom, refer to page 39.
[077K]				The projector is in the Power management mode.

* When the life of the projection lamp draws to an end, the Lamp Indicator lights yellow. When this indicator lights yellow, replace the projection lamp with a new one promptly. Make sure to reset the Lamp Replace Counter after its replacement.
