Frequently Asked Questions - GNS 20 TRIAX

How do I install the Triax GNS 20 amplifier?
Connect the antenna cable to the input (marked 'ANT IN'). Then connect a coaxial cable from the output (marked 'TV OUT') to your TV or receiver. Plug the power adapter into a mains socket and connect it to the amplifier. The amplifier will power on automatically.
What should I do if I get no signal after installation?
Check all cable connections. Ensure the amplifier is powered (LED should be on). Verify that your antenna is properly aligned and in good condition. If using a splitter, ensure it is compatible with amplified signals.
Can the GNS 20 be used outdoors?
No, the GNS 20 is designed for indoor use only. Exposure to moisture or extreme temperatures can damage the unit.
What is the maximum cable length from amplifier to TV?
The amplifier can compensate for cable losses up to approximately 20 meters of standard coaxial cable. For longer runs, use higher quality cable or additional amplification.
Does the GNS 20 work with digital TV (DVB-T2)?
Yes, the GNS 20 is compatible with DVB-T and DVB-T2 signals. It amplifies the entire UHF/VHF band used for terrestrial digital TV.
How do I clean the amplifier?
Disconnect the power adapter. Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the exterior. Do not use water, cleaning solvents, or abrasive materials.
Is it normal for the amplifier to get warm?
Yes, slight warming during operation is normal. Ensure the ventilation slots are not blocked. If it becomes excessively hot, check for overload or faults.
Can I connect multiple TVs to one GNS 20?
The GNS 20 has only one output. For multiple TVs, you will need an additional splitter. Note that splitting the signal reduces strength; a distribution amplifier may be needed for many TVs.
What does the LED indicate?
A steady green LED indicates normal operation. If the LED is off or red, check the power connection and try a different mains socket.
Where can I find the user manual?
The manual is available for free download on notice-facile.com in PDF format. You can also request a translated version by email.

Description

GNS 20, 30 are low-noise multi-range amplifiers with digital capability, four highly selective range inputs and one output. For use in all small and medium-sized common antenna networks in which terrestrial signals must be amplified.

High amplification and a high output level make the GNS range of amplifiers suitable for both DVB-T and analog antenna signals.

→ You can operate VHF III and UHF alternately or common using the integrated jumper - e.g. when using combination antennas.
Connectable +5 V remote supply to the UHF or VHF III inputs - e.g. for supplying power to active DVB-T antennas.

→ Level controller 0...-20 dB at each input
Low power consumption
Low-noise inputs for DVB-T
→ The die-cast housing with cooling fins reduces the component temperature and thereby increases both service life and reliability
→ HF connections: F sockets, molded
Conforms to the standards EN 60065, EN 50083-3, EN 50083-5, CE

Correct and incorrect use

This unit may only be operated as described in these instructions. Any other form of incorrect

use shall result in all warranty claims being void.

Safety Requirements

CAUTION: Observe the safety requirements of EN 50083 -1

→ Equipotential bonding

The complete system must be provided with equipotential bonding by means of a mechanically stable protective conductor with

a minimum cross-section of 4 mm^2 . There is a connection point at the earthing screw at the right wall bracket.

NOTE: The unit must not be exposed to dripping or splashing water.

Installation

Choose a location and orientation that will not impair the convection cooling of the amplifier:

• Horizontal (cooling fins aligned vertically)
- Uncovered on wall
- Installed in a cabinet only in strict conformance to the permissible ambient

operating temperature (measured in the air stream underneath the amplifier)

→ Wall mounting

  • Fixed to brackets by appropriately sized screws (dia. max. 4.8 mm)
    • Fixings 158 mm apart

Setting possibilities

The Multiband amplifiers GNS have the following setting possibilities:

Default setting

Level adjuster,

at all inputs 0...20 dB 0 dB

Power supply for the connected terrestrial antennas

input UHF 0 / +5 V 0 V

input VHFIII 0 / +5 V 0 V
