License types

Designated System(s) License (DS). Avaya may require the Designated Processor(s) to be identified in the order by type, serial number, feature key, Instance, location or other specific designation, or to be provided by End User to Avaya through electronic means established by Avaya specifically for this purpose.

Heritage Nortel Software

"Heritage Nortel Software" means the software that was acquired by Avaya as part of its purchase of the Nortel Enterprise Solutions Business in December 2009. The Heritage Nortel Software is the software contained within the list of Heritage Nortel Products located at https://support.avaya.com/Licenselnfo under the link "Heritage Nortel Products" or such successor site as designated by Avaya. For Heritage Nortel Software, Avaya grants Customer a license to use Heritage Nortel Software provided hereunder solely to the extent of the authorized activation or authorized usage level, solely for the purpose specified in the Documentation, and solely as embedded in, for execution on, or for communication with Avaya equipment. This document describes how to install, set up, and configure the following Avaya headsets on your computer:

Chapter 2: Avaya Setup Tool installation

With Avaya Setup Tool, you can manually configure the headsets. After you successfully start the Avaya Setup Tool, it runs in background until you quit the tool.

Installing Avaya Setup Tool

Before you begin

  • Connect your computer to the Internet.
  • Download the Avaya Setup Tool installation file from https://support.avaya.com/products/P1692/I100-series-headsets/.

Procedure

  1. Run the installation file.
  2. Accept the terms of the license agreement.
  3. To complete the installation, click Launch.

Quitting Avaya Setup Tool

About this task

To stop the Avaya Setup Tool from running in the background, you need to quit the tool.

  1. In the taskbar, click
  2. Right-click on the Avaya Setup Tool icon, and then click Exit.

Chapter 3: Headset configuration

You can use the headset only after you configure the headset settings on your computer. You do this manually from the Avaya Setup Tool window. You must also configure device settings, application settings, and update the firmware.

Connecting the headset

About this task

Use this procedure to connect the headset to your computer by using one of the following connector types:

  • RJ9 connector
  • 3.5mm connector
  • USB with Bluetooth connector
  • USB without Bluetooth connector

\* Note:

When you connect the headset to the phone by using Bluetooth and to the computer by using the USB connector, the headset does not play an alert tone for incoming Avaya Equinox® calls when using in Bluetooth mode.

Before you begin

Install Avaya Setup Tool on your computer.

Procedure

  1. Plug the headset to your computer.
    The software automatically detects the headset.
  2. Open Avaya Setup Tool.
    In the lower left corner, the software displays the status as Connected with the name and image of the connected headset.

Supervisory cable

The supervisory cable connects two headsets with a smart release connector for supervision purpose. The connector is attached to the lower part of a cord. One side of the cord is unmuted, so you can use it for speaking and listening. The other side of the cord is muted, so you can only use it for listening. The unmuted cord is used as the trainee part of the cable, and the muted cord is used as the supervisor part of the cable.

While using the supervisory cable, the Avaya Setup Tool displays the headset connected to the trainee part of the cable. If the headset connected to the trainee part of the cable is disconnected, then the Avaya Setup Tool displays the headset connected to the supervisor part of the cable. If you connect one monaural type and another binaural type of headset, then the Avaya Setup Tool displays the binaural type of headset.

Use this procedure to the adjust different audio settings of the headset.

Procedure

  1. On the Avaya Setup Tool window, in the navigation pane, click Device Settings.
  2. On the General Settings tab, configure the headset as per your requirement.
  3. To save the settings, click Send configuration to device.

Resetting the headset to factory settings

About this task

Use this procedure to reset the headset to factory settings, that is, the initial state in which you received the headset from the factory. You cannot recover customized settings after you do this.

  1. On the Avaya Setup Tool window, in the navigation pane, click Device Settings.
  2. Click Menu > Factory Reset.

Updating the firmware

About this task

Use this procedure to install new headset firmware. Do not disconnect the headset during firmware update.

  1. On the Avaya Setup Tool window, in the navigation pane, click Firmware Update.
    The Firmware Update page displays all details of one or more connected headsets.

  4. BROWSE and navigate to the folder where you saved the firmware file and install it.

Configuring General Application Settings

About this task

Use this procedure to configure the interval at which the application must check for updates.

The Provisioning sever details section displays the location of the server where you can set the interval. In the Application details section, you can check whether a newer version of the Avaya Setup Tool is available.

Procedure

  1. On the Avaya Setup Tool window, in the navigation pane, click Application Settings.
  2. In Updates checking interval, set one of the following interval time:

• 10 minutes
• 15 minutes
• 20 minutes
• 25 minutes
• 30 minutes
• Auto: Automatically checks for update
- Never: Never checks for update

Enabling and disabling softphones connection

About this task

Use this procedure to enable or disable the softphones connection with the headset. The number of softphones that you can connect to the headset is unrestricted.

Procedure

  1. On theAvaya Setup Tool window, in the navigation pane, click Application Settings.
  2. Click the Softphones tab.

The software displays a list of possible softphone connections.

The green dot indicates the softphone module to which the headset is connected..

  1. To connect another headset or replace the current headset, use the slider in Enable column:

  2. To connect the headset, slide right.

  3. To disconnect the headset, slide left.

Supported media players

The Avaya headsets supports the following media players:

  • Windows Media Player
    • VLC Media Player
  • Spotify
  • iTunes for Windows

Static electricity and Avaya headset

Static electricity can be caused by physical vibration, friction, and the separation of materials. It is possible to receive a minor electrostatic shock from the metal band part of the headset when you are listening from your mobile or computer. If you receive an electrostatic shock, it does not mean that there is an issue with the headset.

Certain environments and actions can encourage static electricity buildup on your metal part of the headset:

• Dry, low humid environment

Headset configuration

• Very windy environment
• Clothes with synthetic fibres like nylon

Chapter 4: Troubleshooting

Music does not pause during a Skype for Business call

Condition

If you receive a cellular call while listening to music, then the computer pauses the music and indicates the pause by turning the Play/Pause key to orange. However, if you receive a Skype for Business call while listening to music, then the computer continues playing the music. The Play/Pause key does change to orange in this case too.

Solution

Workaround is unavailable.

Firmware installation stops at 98%

Condition

When you install Avaya Setup Tool, the firmware installation process stops at 98%.

Solution

Cancel the installation process and restart Avaya Setup Tool.

Headset Bluetooth auto reconnects after you disconnect it from the device

Condition

When you disconnect Bluetooth from the mobile phone, plug out the headset, and replug it in to the headset, the Bluetooth reconnects automatically with the headset.

Cause

The headset is designed to reconnect automatically.

Solution

To disconnect Bluetooth, turn it on, select the headset from the list of paired devices, and unpair the device.

Call control and mute does not work during a Skype for Business call and Avaya Equinox ^® call

Condition

If you receive a Skype for Business call or an Avaya Equinox ^® call when the headset is connected to the computer using Bluetooth, the call control and mute function does not work.

Cause

This function is working as per design.

Solution

Connect the headset to the computer with the USB.

There is no audio or low volume after switching from the mobile phone speaker to the headset

Condition

There's no audio or very low volume when you switch from the mobile phone speaker to the headset during an active Avaya Equinox® call from your iPhone to another phone. The audio issue occurs when the headset is connected to your iPhone using Bluetooth through your computer.

Solution

Increase the volume on the Hook-Switch controller.

iOS phone starts ringing during an active USB call when it receives an incoming Bluetooth call

Condition

When you are on a USB call and you receive an incoming Bluetooth call, then the iOS phone starts ringing instead of a beep alert.

Cause

This functionality is as intended.

Finding documents on the Avaya Support website

Procedure

  1. Navigate to http://support.avaya.com/.
  2. At the top of the screen, type your username and password and click Login.
  3. Click Support by Product > Documents.
  4. In Enter your Product Here, type the product name and then select the product from the list.
  5. In Choose Release, select an appropriate release number.
  6. In the Content Type filter, click a document type, or click Select All to see a list of all available documents.

For example, for user guides, click User Guides in the Content Type filter. The list displays the documents only from the selected category.

  1. Click Enter.

Avaya Documentation Portal navigation

Customer documentation for some programs is now available on the Avaya Documentation Portal at http://documentation.avaya.com/.

Important:

For documents that are not available on the Avaya Documentation Portal, click Support on the top menu to open http://support.avaya.com/.

Using the Avaya Documentation Portal, you can:

- Search for content in one of the following ways:

  • Type a keyword in the Search field.
  • Type a keyword in Search, and click Filters to search for content by product, release, and document type.
  • Select a product or solution and then select the appropriate document from the list.

• Find a document from the Publications menu.
- Publish a PDF of the current section in a document, the section and its subsections, or the entire document.
- Add content to your collection by using My Docs (☆).

Navigate to the My Content > My Docs menu, and do any of the following:

  • Create, rename, and delete a collection.
  • Add content from various documents to a collection.
  • Save a PDF of selected content in a collection and download it to your computer.
  • Share content in a collection with others through email.
  • Receive content that others have shared with you.

- Add yourself as a watcher by using the Watch icon ( ◎ ).

Navigate to the My Content > Watch list menu, and do the following:

  • Set how frequently you want to be notified, starting from every day to every 60 days.
  • Unwatch selected content, all content in a document, or all content on the Watch list page.

As a watcher, you are notified when content is updated or deleted from a document, or the document is removed from the portal.

  • Share a section on social media platforms, such as Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, and GooglePlus.
  • Send feedback on a section and rate the content.
