Product features

The Dell SE2419H/SE2419HX/SE2719H/SE2719HX flat panel display has an active matrix, Thin-Film Transistor (TFT), Liquid Crystal Display (LCD), anti-static, and LED backlight. The monitor features include:

- SE2419H/SE2419HX: 60.45 cm (23.8 inch) diagonal viewable area display (measured diagonally). 1920 x 1080 resolution, with full-screen support for lower resolutions.

- SE2719H/SE2719HX: 68.58 cm (27 inch) diagonal viewable area display (measured diagonally). 1920 x 1080 resolution, with full-screen support for lower resolutions.

- Wide viewing angles of 178 degrees in vertical and horizontal directions.

• High dynamic contrast ratio (8,000,000:1).

- HDMI connectivity makes it simple and easy to connect with legacy and new systems.

• Plug and play capable if supported by your computer

- On-Screen Display (OSD) adjustments for easy setup and screen optimization.

• 0.5 W standby power when in the sleep mode.

- Optimize eye comfort with a flicker-free screen.

- Possible long-term effects if blue light emission from the monitor may cause damage to the eyes, including eye fatigue or digital eye strain. ComfortView feature is designed to reduce the amount of blue light emitted from the monitor to help optimize eye comfort.

Power management Modes

If you have VESA's DPM™ compliance display card or software installed in your PC, the monitor can automatically reduce its power consumption when not in use. This is referred to as Power Save Mode*. If the computer detects input from the keyboard, mouse, or other input devices, the monitor automatically resumes functioning. The following table shows the power consumption and signaling of this automatic power saving feature.

Activate the computer and the monitor to gain access to the OSD.

Plug and play capability

You can install the monitor in any Plug and Play-compatible system. The monitor automatically provides the computer system with its Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) using Display Data Channel (DDC) protocols so the system can configure itself and optimize the monitor settings. Most monitor installations are automatic, you can select different settings if desired. For more information about changing the monitor settings, see Operating your monitor.

LCD monitor quality and pixel policy

During the LCD Monitor manufacturing process, it is normal for one or more pixels to become fixed in an unchanging state which are hard to see and do not affect the display quality or usability. Maintenance guidelines

Cleaning your monitor

WARNING: Before cleaning the monitor, unplug the monitor power cable from the electrical outlet.

CAUTION: Read and follow the Safety Instructions before cleaning the monitor.

For best practices, follow the instructions in the list below while unpacking, cleaning or handling your monitor:

• To clean your screen, lightly dampen a soft, clean cloth with water. If possible, use a special screen-cleaning tissue or solution suitable for the anti-static coating. Do not use benzene, thinner, ammonia, abrasive cleaners or compressed air.
• Use a lightly-dampened cloth to clean the monitor. Avoid using detergent of any kind as some detergents leave a milky film on the monitor.
• If you notice white powder when you unpack your monitor, wipe it off with a cloth.
• Handle your monitor with care as the black-colored monitor may get scratched
• To help maintain the best image quality on your monitor, use a dynamically changing screen saver and turn off your monitor when not in use.

Connecting the stand

NOTE: The stand is not attached when the monitor is shipped from the factory.
NOTE: The following procedure is applicable for the stand that shipped with your monitor.

To attach the monitor stand:

1. Connect the stand riser to the stand base, and then tighten the screw on the stand base.

Connecting your monitor

WARNING: Before you begin any of the procedures in this section, follow the Safety Instructions.

NOTE: Do not connect all cables to the computer at the same time. It is recommended to route the cables through the cable-management slot before you connect them to the monitor.

To connect your monitor to the computer:

1. Turn off your computer and disconnect the power cable.

2. Connect VGA or HDMI cable from your monitor to the computer.

Removing the stand

NOTE: To prevent scratches on the screen when removing the stand, ensure that the monitor is placed on a soft and clean surface.

NOTE: The following procedure is applicable for the stand that shipped with your monitor.

1. Place the monitor on a soft cloth or cushion along the desk.

Press the button to turn on the monitor.

Using the front panel controls

Use the control buttons at the bottom edge of the monitor to adjust the image being displayed.

The following table describes the control buttons:

	Power button(with power-status light)	Solid white light indicates the monitor is turned on and functioning normally. Blinking white light indicates the monitor is in power save mode.

OSD controls

Use the buttons on the bottom edge of the monitor to adjust the image settings.

Using the On-Screen Display (OSD) menu

Accessing the OSD menu

NOTE: Any changes you make are automatically saved when you move to another menu, exit the OSD menu, or wait for the OSD menu to close automatically.

1. Press the Button to display the OSD main menu.

1. Press the 🔊 and 🔒 buttons to move between the setting options. As you move from one icon to another, the option name is highlighted.
2. Press the button once to activate the highlighted option.
3. Press 🔒 and 🔒 button to select the desired parameter.
4. Press and then use the ↑ and ↓ buttons, according to the indicators on the menu, to make your changes.
5. Select the button to return to the main menu.

	Brightness/Contrast	Use this option to control the brightness or contrast settings.[IMAGE]
	Brightness Brightness adjusts the luminance of the backlight.Press the ➤ button to increase the brightness and press the ◀ button to decrease the brightness (min. 0; max. 100).NOTE: Manual adjustment of brightness is disabled when dynamic contrast is switched on.
	Contrast	Adjust the brightness first, and then adjust the contrast only if further adjustment is necessary.Press the ➤ button to increase the contrast and press the ◀ button to decrease the contrast (min. 0; max. 100).The contrast function adjusts the degree of difference between darkness and lightness on the screen.

Use this option to activate automatic setup and adjust menu.

The following dialog appears on a black screen as the monitor self-adjusts to the current input:

Auto Adjustment in Progress...

Auto Adjust allows the monitor to self-adjust to the incoming video signal. After using Auto Adjustment, you can further tune your monitor by using the Pixel Clock (Coarse) and Phase (Fine) controls under Display.

NOTE: Auto Adjust does not occur if you press the button while there are no active video input signals or attached cables. This option is only available when you are using the analog (VGA) connector.

	Input Source	Use the input source menu to switch between the different video signals that may be connected to your monitor.SE2419H/SE2419HX: one VGA and one HDMI input

	VGA	Push √ to select the VGA input source when using VGA connector.
	HDMI	[IMAGE]toss/Presture HDMI input source when using HDMI connector.
	Auto Select	Select Auto Select to scan for available input signals.
	Reset Input Source	Select this option to restore default input source.
	Color	Use color to adjust the color setting mode.
	Preset Modes	When you select Preset Modes, you can choose Standard, ComfortView, Movie, Game, Warm, Cool or Custom Color from the list.Standard: Loads the monitor's default color settings. This is the default preset mode.ComfortView: Decreases the level of blue light emitted from the screen to make viewing more comfortable for your eyes.NOTE: To reduce the risk of eye strain and neck/arm/back/shoulders pain from using the monitor for long periods of time, we suggest that you:

• Set the screen about 20\~28 inches (50\~70 cm) from your eyes.
• Blink frequently to moisten or lubricate your eyes.
  • Take regular 20-minute breaks every two hours.
• Look away from your monitor and gaze at a distant object at 20 feet away for at least 20 seconds during the breaks.
• Perform stretches to relieve tension in the neck/arm/back/shoulders during the breaks.
  • Movie: Loads color settings ideal for movies.
  • Game: Loads color settings ideal for most gaming applications.
• Warm: Increases the color temperature. The screen appears warmer with a red/yellow tint.
• Cool: Decreases the color temperature. The screen appears cooler with a blue tint.
• Custom Color: Allows you to manually adjust the color settings.

Press the 🔊 and Buttons to adjust the three colors (R, G, B) values and create your own preset color mode.

	Input Color Format	Allow you to set the video input mode to:RGB: Select this option if your monitor is connected to a computer or DVD player using the HDMI cable.YPbPr: Select this option if your DVD player supports only YPbPr output.
	Hue This feature	can shift the color of the video image to green or purple. This is used to adjust the desired skin tone color. UseorVto adjust the hue from 0 to 100.PressVto increase the green shade of the video image.PressVto decrease the purple shade of the video image.NOTE: Hue adjustment is available only when you select Movie or Game preset mode.
	Saturation This feature can adjust the color saturation of the video image. Useoradjust the saturation from 0 to 100.Pressto increase the monochrome appearance of the video image.Pressto decrease the colorful appearance of the video image.NOTE: Saturation adjustment is available only when you select Movie or Game preset mode.
	Reset Color	Reset your monitor color settings to the factory settings.
	Display	Use the display to adjust image.
	Aspect Ratio	Adjust the image ratio to Wide 16:9, 4:3 or 5:4.
	Horizontal Position(VGA input only)	UseorVto move image left and right.Minimum is '0' (-). Maximum is '100' (+).
	Vertical Position(VGA input only)	Use theorVto move image up and down.Minimum is '0' (-). Maximum is '100' (+).
	Sharpness	This feature can make the image look sharper or softer. UseorVto adjust the sharpness from 0 to 100.
	Pixel Clock The Pixel Clock feature enables you to adjustimage quality on your monitor to your preference.Useorbuttons to adjust for best image quality.
	Phase(VGA input only)	If satisfactory results are not obtained using the Phase adjustment, use the Pixel Clock (coarse) adjustment and then use Phase (fine), again.
	Dynamic Contrast	Allow you to increase the level of contrast to provide sharper and more detailed image quality.Press thebutton to select the dynamic contrast On or Off.NOTE: Dynamic contrast provides higher contrast if you select movie or game preset mode.
	Response Time	Allow you to select between Normal (8 ms), Fast(5 ms).
	Reset Display Select this option to restore default display settings.
	Menu	Select this option to adjust the settings of the OSD, such as the languages of the OSD, the amount of time, the menu remains on screen and so on.
	Language	Language options set the OSD display to one of the eight languages (English, Spanish, French, German, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Simplified Chinese, or Japanese).
	Transparency	Select this option to change the menu transparency by pressing theorbuttons from 0 to 100.
	Timer	OSD hold time: sets the length of time, the OSD will remain active after the last time you pressed a button.Useorto adjust the slider in 1 second increments, from 5 to 60 seconds.
	Reset Menu Reset all OSD settings to the factory preset values.
	Personalize	Allow you to choose a feature from Shortcut key 1, Shortcut key 2, Power Button LED or Reset Personalization, Preset Modes or Brightness/Contrast and set it as a shortcut key.
	Shortcut Key 1	Allow you to select one of the following: Preset Modes, Brightness/Contrast, Auto Adjust, Input Source, Aspect Ratio, to set the shortcut key 1.

	DDC/CI	DDC/CI (Display Data Channel/Command Interface) allows you to adjust the monitor settings using software on your computer. Select Off to turn off this feature. Enable this feature for best user experience and optimum performance of your monitor.
	LCD Conditioning	Help reduce minor cases of image retention. Depending on the degree of image retention, the program may take some time to run. To start LCD Conditioning, select On.
	Service Tag	Display the Service Tag number of the monitor.
	Reset Other	Reset all settings under the Others setting menu to the factory default.
	Factory Reset	Reset all settings to the factory default.

Setting up your monitor

Setting display resolution to 1920 x 1080

For best performance, set the display resolution to 1920 × 1080 pixels by performing the following steps:

In Windows 7:

1. Right-click on the desktop and click Screen Resolution.
2. Click the drop-down menu of the Screen Resolution and select 1920 x 1080.
3. Click OK.

In Windows 8 or Windows 8.1:

1. Select the Desktop tile to switch to classic desktop.
2. Right-click on the desktop and click Screen Resolution.
3. Click the drop-down menu of the Screen Resolution and select 1920 x 1080.
4. Click OK.

In Windows 10:

1. Right-click on the desktop and click Display Settings.
2. Click Advanced Display Settings.
3. Click the drop-down menu under Resolution and select 1920 x 1080
4. Click Apply.

If you do not see the recommended resolution as an option, you may need to update your graphics driver. Use one of the following methods to update the graphics driver:

Dell computer

1. Go to www.dell.com/support, enter your service tag, and download the latest driver for your graphics card.
2. After installing the drivers for your graphics adapter, attempt to set the resolution to 1920 × 1080 again.

NOTE: If you are unable to set the resolution to 1920 x 1080 please contact Dell to inquire about a graphics adapter that supports these resolutions.

Non-Dell computer

In Windows 7:

1. Right-click on the desktop and click Personalization.
2. Click Change Display Settings.

Using tilt

You can tilt the monitor for the most comfortable viewing angle.

NOTE: The stand is not attached when the monitor is shipped from the factory.

Self-test

Your monitor provides a self-test feature that allows you to check if your monitor is functioning properly. If your monitor and computer are properly connected but the monitor screen remains dark, run the monitor self-test by performing the following steps:

1. Turn on both your computer and the monitor.
2. Disconnect all video cables from the monitor. This way, the computer doesn't have to be involved.
3. Turn on the monitor.

If the monitor is working correctly, it detects that there is no signal and one of the following message appears. While in self-test mode, the power LED remains white.

1. Turn off your monitor and reconnect the video cable; then turn on your computer and the monitor.

If your monitor remains dark after you reconnect the cables, check your video controller and computer.

Built-in diagnostics

Your monitor has a built-in diagnostic tool that helps you determine if any screen abnormality you experience is an inherent problem with your monitor, or with your computer and video card.

NOTE: You can run the built-in diagnostics only when the video cable is unplugged and the monitor is in self-test mode.

To run the built-in diagnostics:

1. Ensure that the screen is clean (no dust particles on the surface of the screen).
2. Unplug the video cable(s) from the back of the computer or monitor. The monitor then goes into the self-test mode.
3. Press and hold Button 1 for 5 seconds. A gray screen appears.
4. Carefully inspect the screen for abnormalities.
5. Press Button 1 on the bottom of the monitor again. The color of the screen changes to red.
6. Inspect the display for any abnormalities.
7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 to inspect the display in green, blue, black, white and text screens.
