Frequently Asked Questions - Diver SEL02002B0 ORIENT

How do I set the time and date on my ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0?
To set the time, unscrew the crown by turning it counterclockwise. Pull the crown to the first position to adjust the date, and to the second position to set the time. After setting, push the crown back in and screw it down securely to maintain water resistance.
Is this watch battery-powered?
No, the ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 uses an automatic movement that is powered by your wrist motion. It does not require a battery. If the watch stops, wind it manually by turning the crown in the neutral position (unscrewed) clockwise about 20 times.
What is the water resistance rating of the SEL02002B0?
The watch is rated for 200 meters (20 ATM) water resistance, making it suitable for recreational scuba diving. However, it is not designed for deep saturation diving.
Can I use this watch for scuba diving?
Yes, the ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 is a dive watch suitable for recreational scuba diving. It features a unidirectional bezel to track elapsed time underwater. Ensure the crown is screwed down tightly before diving.
How do I adjust the bracelet size?
The stainless steel bracelet can be adjusted by removing links. Use a pin pusher tool to push out the spring bars or screws securing the links. Alternatively, have a jeweler or watchmaker adjust it for you.
How often should my watch be serviced?
ORIENT recommends servicing the watch every 3 to 5 years to maintain accuracy and water resistance. Regular servicing includes cleaning, lubrication, and gasket replacement.
What should I do if the watch stops running?
If the watch stops, first try winding it manually by turning the crown clockwise 20-30 times. If it still doesn't run, it may need servicing. Avoid shaking the watch violently, as this can damage the movement.
Is the watch suitable for everyday wear?
Yes, the ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 is designed for daily wear with a robust stainless steel case and bracelet. It can withstand common activities, but avoid extreme shocks and strong magnetic fields.
How do I use the unidirectional bezel?
The bezel rotates only counterclockwise to prevent accidental extension of dive time. Align the bezel's triangular marker with the minute hand at the start of a dive, then read the elapsed time by comparing the bezel marking with the minute hand.
Where can I find spare parts for my ORIENT watch?
Spare parts are available through authorized ORIENT service centers. Contact ORIENT customer support or visit an authorized dealer to order replacement parts such as bracelets, crystals, or crowns.

◆ IN HANDLING THE WATCH

ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 - ◆ IN HANDLING THE WATCH - 1

WARNING

(1) Water-resistance

① This watch is water-resistant up to 200 m for use in air diving.
* This watch can only be used in air diving; please be aware that it cannot be used in saturation diving (using helium gas).
② The crown is a screwed-down type. Always tighten the crown securely when using this watch. If the crown is not securely tightened, water resistance cannot be guaranteed.
③ Do not operate the crown while in water or there is water on the watch. Water will penetrate the watch. If the crown is loose, water may enter the watch and cause a malfunction.
④ There is a small amount of humidity inside the watch. If external temperature is lower than inside the watch, the glass may fog. Temporary fogging will not damage the internal mechanism but if it remains for a long time or if there is moisture inside the watch, consult the shop where you purchased the watch or the nearest ORIENT WATCH Service Center.

(2) Precautions before diving

Make sure to do the following before you dive.

① Check that the watch is fully wound.
(If not, wind the mainspring by swinging the watch for at least 30 seconds.)
See the description of the ◆ AUTOMATIC WINDING MECHANISM (WITH HAND WINDING MECHANISM) on page 26 and ◆ POWER RESERVE INDICATOR on page 29.

② Make sure the watch shows the correct time.
③ Check that the rotating bezel can be turned normally. If it can be turned counterclockwise, the rotation direction is normal.
④ Check that the screwed-down type crown is securely tightened.
⑤ Make sure that there are no cracks or chips in the glass or bracelet/strap.

⑥ Make sure that there are no abnormalities in the bracelet/strap links (spring bar and buckle).

* If there are any abnormalities, stop using the watch and contact the ORIENT WATCH Service Center.

(3) Precautions during diving

① Do not operate the crown while in the water.
② The rotating bezel may be hard to operate under water due to water pressure. (This is not a malfunction.)
③ Do not subject the watch to shocks, such as banging on rocks.

(4) Precautions after diving

① Do not operate the crown while there is water on the surface of the watch.
② To remove salt water from the case or bracelet/strap, first make sure the crown is securely tightened. Then, rinse it with fresh water to prevent rusting.

After rinsing, wipe with a soft dry cloth to remove any moisture. Be especially careful to wipe off the bezel and the bracelet/strap connecting section (spring bar and buckle).

(5) Shock

① Be sure not to carry the watch when you engage in strenuous sports, whereas playing such light sports as golf, etc., will not adversely influence the watch.
② Avoid a violent shock such as dropping the watch on the floor.

(6) Magnetism

① If the watch is left at a location with strong magnetism for an extended period of time, the components may be magnetized, resulting in malfunction. Be careful.
② The watch may temporarily speed up or slow down when exposed to magnetism. Precision is restored when placed away from magnetism. In such a case, reset the time.

(8) Temperature

In environments below and above normal temperatures ( 5irc C- 35irc C), the watch may malfunction and stop.

ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 - Temperature - 1

Do not use the watch at high temperatures, such as in a sauna. The watch may heat and cause burns.

(9) Chemicals, Gases, etc.

Utmost caution must be exercised when coming into contact with gases, mercury, chemicals (paint thinner, gasoline, various solvents, detergents containing such components, adhesives, paint, drugs, perfumes, cosmetics, etc.), and so forth. Such may cause discoloration of the watchcase, watchband, and dial face. Discoloration, deformation, and damage to various resin-based component parts may also occur.

ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 - Allergic reactions - 1

CAUTION

If you develop a skin rash or your skin becomes abnormally irritated due to contact with the watch or strap, stop wearing the watch immediately and consult a doctor.

(12) About "luminous light"

This watch has luminous light on the hands and dial.

The luminous light is a safe paint that stores sunlight and artificial light without using any radioactive material, and emits that light in a dark setting. As the paint discharges the stored light, it will become dimmer over time. The amount of light emitted and the time that light is emitted depends on various factors when the light is stored, such as the shape of the glass, the thickness of the paint, surrounding brightness level, the distance from the watch to the light source, and the light absorption level. Please note that when not enough light energy is stored, the watch may emit weak light or emit light for only a short time.

ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 - About "luminous light" - 1

CAUTION

Before using the watch for diving, apply sufficient bright light or sunlight to the watch.

Light may not be emitted in certain cases if light is insufficient.

Please note that an underwater light must also be used diving.

(13) Water resistant watchband

Some products employ leather and nylon bands on which a special treatment to resist perspiration and water absorption have been applied. Please understand that the water resisting effect of this watchband can be lost depending on the period and conditions of use.

◆ AUTOMATIC WINDING MECHANISM (WITH HAND WINDING MECHANISM)

(1) This is an automatic winding mechanical watch (with a hand winding mechanism).
(2) The mainspring is wound by natural movements of your arm when wearing the watch on your wrist.
In addition, you can also wind the mainspring by turning the crown.
(3) If your watch stops, either swing the watch back and forth ten or more times or turn the crown to wind the mainspring in order to restart the second hand.

After it starts moving, set the calendar and time.

(4) When winding the mainspring, slowly turn the crown to the right (clockwise) while in its normal position.

Turning the crown to the left (counter-clockwise) merely turns the crown uselessly and does not wind the mainspring.

You can wind the mainspring fully by turning the crown to the right about twenty times from a stopped position.

The crown can still be turned after the mainspring is fully wound. Either use the above count or use the markings on the power reserve indicator when winding the watch.

(5) This watch will run approximately 40 hours after it is fully wound. If it is not wound enough, the watch may lose accuracy. In order to maintain the watch's accuracy, we recommend wearing the watch at least 8 hours a day.

ORIENT Diver SEL02002B0 - ◆ AUTOMATIC WINDING MECHANISM (WITH HAND WINDING MECHANISM) - 1

CAUTION: Use caution

In order to use the watch and maintain precision, we recommend that you hold the watch securely as shown above. Wind the spring by moving your arm left and right in a large arc, until the power reserve hand is at the middle of the power range (or higher), then put it on your wrist.

About date correction at month's end :

Date correction is necessary for months with 30 days or less. In this case, set the date to the [1st day] on the first day of the next month.

◆ POWER RESERVE INDICATOR

The power reserve indicator shows how much the watch is wound, allowing you to see how much longer the watch will run at a glance. The time pointed to by the power reserve hand is the remaining time.

The remaining time shown is only an approximation. The time shown may be different from actual remaining time.

Power reserve hand

This product has an automatic-winding system which comes with a power reserve indicator function. The mainspring will be automatically wound by your natural arm movements while you wear it on your wrist. The power reserve hand is pointing to the fully-wound position (40H). The amount the watch is wound will change with the frequency of your arm movements and the length of time you wear the watch, so the hand will not always point to the fully-wound position. If you remove the watch from your arm and do not wind manually, the power reserve hand will move toward zero as time passes.

◆ HOW TO USE THE ROTATING INDICATOR RING

Turn the ring by pointing the ▽ mark to the minute-hand. While certain time goes by, you can measure the elapsed time from the distance between minute-hand and figures on the rotating indicator ring. You can also set the ▽ mark as a desired time to remind you how long time is still remain for an appointment.

You cannot turn the ring reversely since it comes with a protection mechanism for preventing wrong operation by force or shock. Figures on the ring could also help you to read the current time easily.
