How do I change the battery in my IMPACT Pro DP hearing aid?

Open the battery compartment fully. Remove the old battery. Remove the colored sticker from the new battery (only if using it immediately). Place the battery in the drawer with the + symbol facing up. Close the battery door. You may hear beeps indicating low battery when replacement is needed.

How do I turn my hearing aid on and off?

To turn on, close the battery compartment fully. To turn off, open the battery compartment to the first stop (not fully open). Alternatively, if programmed, you can press and hold the program button for about 3 seconds to turn off/on. When using the button, wait ~10 seconds before turning back on.

How do I select different hearing programs?

Press the program button to cycle through up to 5 programs. Each press changes to the next program, confirmed by beep tones (number of beeps equals program number). Your audiologist will set the programs for different listening environments.

Can I adjust the volume manually?

If programmed by your audiologist, rotate the volume control wheel upward to increase volume, downward to decrease. A warning tone indicates you've reached the limit. If not programmed for manual control, the volume adjusts automatically and rotating the wheel has no effect.

What is the audio shoe and how do I use it?

The audio shoe allows connection of audio accessories. To fit, open the battery compartment, then open the audio shoe cover. Close the battery compartment. Attach the shoe by hooking its nibs into the recesses on the hearing aid housing and sliding it inward until it snaps. To remove, slide in the opposite direction. Do not force it incorrectly.

How does e2e wireless work?

e2e wireless (ear-to-ear) synchronizes both hearing instruments automatically. When you adjust volume or program on one, the other changes accordingly. It adapts to listening situations. Performance may be affected by electromagnetic interference from computer monitors or halogen lamps. Move away from the source if issues occur.

What does the low battery indicator mean?

Your hearing aid may produce intermittent beeps or you may notice reduced amplification. When you hear these beeps or experience low volume, replace the battery immediately to maintain best system performance.

How do I lock the battery compartment to prevent children from removing the battery?

Open the battery compartment to the first stop (off position). Use a pointed tool to push the pin to the right to lock, or to the left to unlock. This prevents unintentional battery removal by children.

How should I clean and care for my hearing aid?

Regularly clean the ear mold to remove wax buildup. Avoid exposing the hearing aid to extreme temperatures, high humidity, direct sunlight, strong magnetic fields (>0.1T), X-rays, or mechanical stress. Remove the battery if not using for a long time. Do not wear while showering or applying cosmetics.

What safety precautions should I follow?

Keep batteries, hearing aids, and accessories out of children's reach (choking hazard). Do not use in explosive environments (e.g., mining). Connect audio input only to equipment meeting IEC 65/DIN VDE 0860 safety standards. Dispose of used batteries according to local regulations or return to your audiologist.

Changing the batteries

1. Open the battery compartment

Low Battery indicator

Your hearing instrument may be programmed to inform you when the battery should be replaced for best system performance. You may hear an intermittent series of beeps and/or experience low amplification power or volume. Change the battery when either of these occur.

Switching the instrument on/off

On:

Close the battery compartment fully to switch on.

Selecting the hearing program

Your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument can be programmed with up to 5 hearing programs which are selected with a program button. Each time the button is pressed the instrument changes to the next program, which is confirmed with beep tones. The number of beep tones is the same as the selected program.

IMPACT Pro will always be on program 1 when initially switched on.

On/Off using the program button

Your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument can also be programmed by your NHS Audiologist to be turned on and off using the program button.

To turn your hearing instrument off, press and hold the program button for approximately 3 seconds. To turn your hearing instrument on again, press and hold the program button for approximately 3 seconds. Please note that when you turn your hearing instrument off using the program button, you must wait approximately 10 seconds for the instrument to reset before turning it back on using the program button.

Power-on delay

Your hearing instrument may be equipped with a "power-on delay" feature.

This feature delays sound from entering your hearing instrument when it is first turned on, so that you may insert the hearing instrument into your ear without experiencing unpleasant feedback (whistling).

Using the volume control

Optional

Your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument is fully automatic. There is no need to manually adjust the volume control.

However, if you prefer manual volume control, your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument can be programmed for manual adjustment. This will be done by your NHS audiologist.

Rotate the wheel upwards to increase volume. Rotate it down to decrease volume.

If your system is programmed for manual adjustment, the wheel-shaped volume control can be rotated up (louder) or down (softer) to select the desired listening volume.

To increase volume, place your index finger gently against the volume control wheel and rotate it upward. If your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument is equipped with a warning tone for volume control limits, once it is heard, adjusting the volume control further in that direction will have no effect. To reduce the volume, rotate the wheel in the opposite direction.

NOTICE

If your hearing instrument has not been programmed for manual control adjustment, the volume will automatically adjust and rotating the volume control wheel will have no effect.

Fitting the audio shoe to the hearing instrument

It is possible to connect audio accessories through an audio shoe.

Ask your NHS Audiologist for details.

Fitting

Before the audio shoe can be connected to the hearing instrument follow the steps below:

▶ Open the battery compartment
▶ Open the audio shoe cover
▶ Close the battery compartment

Attaching the audio shoe

Take the audio shoe and hook the two nibs into the small recesses of the hearing instrument housing. Slide the audio shoe to the inner side of the hearing instrument housing until it snaps into the end position.

Removing the audio shoe

To remove the audio shoe, slide it in the opposite direction.

Any other method of inserting or removing the audio shoe may result in damaging the audio shoe or hearing instrument housing.

With the connected audio shoe, the battery compartment switch is disabled and the hearing instrument can only be switched off with the push button.

Safety instructions for hearing instruments with audio input:

The audio input may be connected to line-operated equipment only if the equipment fulfils the safety requirement IEC 65 / DIN VDE 0860.

e2e wireless™ for IMPACT Pro e2e systems

Optional

The following section applies to binaural fittings only.

Your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument includes e2e (ear-to-ear) wireless technology. The wireless functionality:

Automatically adjusts both hearing instruments simultaneously to adapt to different listening situations
Provides synchronisation of the hearing instrument settings. If you change the volume or program on one instrument, the other is automatically changed

Your NHS Audiologist can activate the wireless functionality of your hearing instruments.

NOTICE

The performance of the e2e wireless system could be affected by electro-magnetic interference, such as computer monitors or halogen lamp systems controlled by a switching power supply. Move away from the source of interference if you experience difficulty.

In some countries restrictions for the usage of wireless equipment exist.

Children's safety device for the battery

This special feature prevents children from unintentionally removing the battery.

Open the battery compartment to the first stop to switch off, do not open the battery door fully.

Using a pointed tool, push the pin to the right to lock the battery door and to the left to unlock.

miniTek and Tek wireless enhancement

Optional

Your IMPACT Pro hearing instrument can be used with the miniTek and Tek wireless enhancement system. Both devices provide a wireless connection from your IMPACT Pro hearing instruments to your television, mobile phone, MP3 player and stereo. miniTek and Tek are also easy-to-use remote controls for your IMPACT Pro hearing instruments for convenient and discreet program and volume adjustment. The miniTek and Tek packages comprises the miniTek or Tek Connect itself which controls the hearing instruments, a Tek transmitter and all cables necessary to link the miniTek/Tek into a variety of devices such as TVs, MP3 players, etc.

NOTICE

miniTek and Tek are additional products to your hearing instrument; Tek is available to purchase at £300. miniTek is available to purchase at £400. IN CASE OF INSTRUMENT FAILURE

Is the instrument switched on?
Is the battery inserted correctly?
Is the battery run down?
Is the battery compartment closed?
Is the sound opening in the ear mould or LifeTip clogged with wax?

CARE

Clean the ear mould regularly to remove built up ear wax.
