Many thanks for the purchase of this US Blaster CD player.
Please read this manual carefully prior to using the unit.
Warning:
- Keep this manual for future reference.
- For indoor use only in a dry and clean environment.
- Do not obstruct the ventilation openings. Leave enough space for sufficient cooling.
- Keep the unit away from heat.
- Unplug the unit from the mains prior to repairs and maintenance.
- Never plug or unplug the unit with wet hands.
- If the plug and/or mains lead are damaged, they need to be repaired by a qualified technician.
- If the unit is damaged to an extent that you can see internal parts, do not plug the unit into a mains outlet.
- Only connect this unit to an earthed mains outlet of 230Vac/50Hz and 10-16A.
- Always unplug the unit during a thunderstorm or when it is not in use.
- If the unit has not been used for a longer period of time, condensation can occur inside the housing. Please let the unit reach room temperature prior to use.
- When you unplug the unit from the mains always pull the plug, never the lead.
- Do not use chemical cleaning products. Only use products that are recommended by your dealer to clean the unit.
- The CD player contains a CLASS I laser. Do not open the housing.
Safety Recommendations
Choose a location where the unit is not exposed to heat and moisture. Do not place the unit near sources of interference such as electric motors, microwave ovens or transformers. Do not open the housing. Repairs should only be carried out by a qualified technician. Do only use clean, scratch-free CDs. Never insert a damaged CD as this would damage the laser head. Switch the unit off prior to unplugging it. Unplug the mains lead and other connection leads prior to moving the unit. Clean the housing only with a dry, clean cloth. Put the player on a flat surface and make sure that the surface is not tilted by more than 15°.
- CD DRAWER 1 Open and close the drawer by pushing the button ③ or the button (1) on the left control unit.
- ILLUMINATION, a clear white LED.
- OPEN/CLOSE (push-buttons for the CD drawer) First push the STOP or PAUSE button.

- CD DRAWER 2, this player is controlled via the right control unit.
CONTROL UNIT
DESCRIPTION OF THE FUNCTIONS
1. OPEN/CLOSE
Opens and closes the CD drawer. This button only operates in pause or stop mode.
2. TIME/STOP
To change the time indication on the display. You can choose among elapsed, remaining or total playing time of a CD. If the button is pressed for more than 3 seconds, the STOP function is activated and the total number of tracks and the total playing time of the inserted CD is displayed.
3. CONTINUE/SINGLE button
This button lets you select one of the following three playing modes:
a) auto-cue single, all tracks are played but at the beginning of each track the player stops and switches into PAUSE mode.
b) continue, the whole CD is played continuously.
c) outro, the player plays the last 30 seconds of each track. Activate this function by pressing the button down for more than 3 seconds. This function is switched off by pushing the Time/Stop button.
The functions a, b and c are indicated on the display.
4. LIQUID CRYSTAL DISPLAY
Indicates the track number, the playing time and other functions. A long horizontal bar represents the remaining play time. The bar flashes over its whole length during the last 30 seconds of a track.
5. MT button
If this button is pressed, the tone level is brought back to the original tone (Master Tempo). The slider control (11) only sets the speed.
6. PITCH button
This button sets the maximum speed variation that is adjustable by the slider control (11). ( plus or minus 8, 16, 32 or 100%)
7. RELAY button This button exists only once!
When this function is activated, the red LED is flashing and the unit switches automatically between the
players. Push the PLAY button of one player to switch it on while the other one goes automatically in Pause mode.
8. PROGRAM button (with a green LED)
This function lets you program a selection of tracks that you want to play. It works only in STOP mode. Push the STOP button (2) for more than 3 seconds until the total number of tracks on the CD is displayed. Push the PROGRAM button. P-01 is displayed. Select the desired track via the track buttons (13) and press the PROGRAM button again to confirm your choice. The green LED lights up to indicate that a track number has been programmed. P-02 is displayed and you can now program the next track number in the same way. You can program up to 30 tracks per CD. Once you press the PLAY button (12), only the selected tracks will be played. The selection is erased by opening the CD drawer.
9. PITCH BEND +/- buttons
While pressing these buttons, the playing speed of the CD is altered. Once the button is released the player goes back to normal speed.
10. PITCH ON/OFF button
This button activates the slider control (11) that sets the playing speed.

12. BPM button (beats per minute)
Press this button shortly to display the rhythm of the music in beats per minute. If you hold the button down for longer than 3 seconds, the BEAT message on the display starts flashing. Now you can set the rhythm yourself by tapping the BPM button to the rhythm of the music. Hold the BPM button down for more than 3 seconds until the BEAT indication stops flashing on the display. Press the BPM button once again to switch the BPM function off.
13. TRACK +/-/10+
Skip to the required track via these buttons.
- SEARCH left or right buttons.
Fast backward or forward play.
15. PLAY/PAUSE button
To start playing and switch into Pause mode.
16. SEAMLESS LOOP function
This function offers the possibility to play a predetermined part of the CD repeatedly. Press the PLAY button to start playing. Go via the SEARCH buttons to a required starting point and press the upper A button. This starting point is now memorized. At the required ending point, press the upper B button to determine the end of the loop. The marked piece of music is now automatically repeated. You can skip back to the starting point by pressing the upper RELOOP button. You can set a second SEAMLESS LOOP via the lower row of buttons A/B/RELOOP. The chosen pieces of music can overlap. To leave a loop, press the corresponding B/EXIT button. The programmed loops are erased when the CD is removed from the player. Note: The loop must be at least 20 frames long.
17. CUE button
The CUE function allows you to skip to a point of the CD that you have marked before. Switch the unit in PAUSE mode at the desired point and press the CUE button to mark a CUE point. Afterwards, if you press the CUE button during play, the player skips to the marked CUE point and switches into PAUSE mode. If you press the BOP button (18) during play, the player skips to the marked CUE point and resumes immediately play from that point.
CUE memory
You can set five different CUE points per CD. Proceed as follows: Press the PAUSE button during play and subsequently the CUE button. The CUE button starts flashing. When the CUE button stops flashing, the
CUE point is set and you can store it in the memory. Press shortly the MEMO button in the black field (23) just below the display. The MEMO button lights up in red. Press the button marked 1 on the right side of the MEMO button. Press the PLAY button to resume play. This way you can set five different CUE points. Just press one of the buttons 1 to 5 to skip back to the set CUE points. If you press the BOP button, the players always skip back to the last programmed CUE point. The CUE points are erased when the CD is removed from the player.
CD memory function
You can store five different CUE points per CD up to a total of 255 CDs. Hold the MEMO button down (in the black CUE field) until the green LED lights up. The memory function is now activated. Make sure that the green LED is lit when you insert a CD. During the identification of the CD ('read' is displayed), the CD is recognized by the number of tracks and the playing time. The formerly stored CUE points are activated again.
18. BOP button
If this button is pressed, the player goes back to the last set CUE point and resumes play immediately from that point. The CUE button has the same effect but the player switches into Pause mode.
19. JOG dial
This big, easy to rotate dial controls a number of functions.
a) During play, the speed is increased by rotating the dial clockwise and decreased by rotating it CCW.
b) In PAUSE mode, you can set any required point on the CD. The setting is very accurate per frame (Note! 1 second standard play time contains 74 frames)
c) The dial also controls various sound effects. This function will be explained more in detail in the description of push-button 21.
20. BRAKE button
After pressing the BRAKE button, start and stop is delayed via the PLAY button by a "brake effect". If this function is active 'BRAKE' is displayed. The duration of this "brake effect" is adjustable from 0.1 to 5 seconds. Proceed as follows: Hold the BRAKE button down for more than 3 seconds. 'Brake' is flashing on the display and the set "brake time" appears. You can change this duration via the SEARCH buttons (14). Press the BRAKE button (20) shortly in order to store the new setting.
After switching off the mains supply, the brake time is reset to the standard value of 2 seconds.
21. ON/OFF (EFFECTS)
This button activates one of the five special sound effects that are indicated by the LEDs just above the JOG dial (19). If the LEDs are flashing, the sound effects are selected but still off.
22. SELECT button
Select one of the five sound effects via this button. Moreover this button controls the HOLD function. The sound effects are:
a) SCRATCH effect, put the player in pause mode to achieve an optimal effect.
b) FLANGER, the increasing noise of a plane taking off.
c) FILTER, tone filter effect.
d) REVERB, echo effect.
e) REVERSE, the CD is played backwards.
The sound effect itself is controlled via the JOG dial. The strength of the sound effect is separately adjustable. Proceed as follows:
a) Switch the PLAY mode on by pressing the PLAY button (15).
b) Switch the sound effect mode on by pressing shortly the ON/OFF button (21).
c) Press the SELECT button (22) to choose the sound effect you wish to change (e.g. filter, flanger or echo)
d) Hold the ON/OFF button (21) down for more than 3 seconds until the red LED above the button is
flashing.
e) 'EF' and the figure zero (0) are displayed.
f) Press the SELECT button (22) for more than 3 seconds until the 'HOLD' LED lights up.
g) Set the strength of the special effect via the JOG dial (19). The range goes from min. to 1499.
h) Press the ON/OFF button shortly to store the setting.
i) The 'HOLD' function is switched off by pressing the SELECT button for more than 3 seconds.
The JOG dial (19) allows you to adjust the sound effects with or without the 'HOLD' function switched on. These settings will be erased when the CD drawer is opened or the mains supply is switched off.
'HOLD' function
The 'HOLD' function is switched on and off by pressing the SELECT button for more than 3 seconds. When the 'HOLD' function is switched on, the setting of the effect remains as adjusted via the JOG dial (19) and will only be changed if the JOG dial is rotated. If the 'HOLD' function is switched off, the setting returns automatically to normal after a few seconds.
23. CUE CONTROL PANEL / SAM button
The operation of the MEMO and number buttons has already been described in the function of the CUE button (17).
Operation of the SAM (sample) button
It is possible to store a portion of 8 seconds of music in the memory. This stored portion can be played any time even during the play of another track on the CD or of a totally different CD. The storage in the memory is done exactly as described in the section SEAMLESS LOOP (see point 16). Create a SEAMLESS LOOP of less than 8 seconds via the A and B buttons as described above. Press the SAM button during the play of the loop. It flashes blue to indicate that the memory is now loaded with the starting point of the loop such as it has been set by the A button. Now you can play this portion of 8 seconds any time just by pressing the SAM button. The memory is erased by pressing simultaneously the SAM and the TIME (2) buttons.
QUICK BASIC INSTRUCTIONS
Play
After having connected the CD player to a mixer/amplifier and the mains, switch on the POWER of the play unit. Open the CD drawer via the OPEN/CLOSE (1) buttons or the blue button on the player. Insert a CD and press again button (1) to close the drawer. The CD will be read by the player and the number of tracks and the playing time will be displayed. After that, press the PLAY/PAUSE button (15) to start playing a CD. Press the PLAY/PAUSE button to interrupt shortly the play and to search for another track on the CD via the buttons (13). Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (15) to resume play.
Cue function
Press the CUE button (17) in Pause mode. This point will be stored in the memory and the CUE LED is flashing. During play, press the CUE or BOP button and the player skips back to the marked point.
Search function
The setting of the exact starting point is done via the search function which is operated by the big JOG dial (19). Switch into Pause mode and rotate the dial (19). The music on the CD is still audible and the frames/seconds/minutes are displayed. You can search forwards and backwards.
AUTO SWITCH OFF
The dual CD players features a time function that switches the unit off when it has not been operated over 30 minutes.
A FEW RECOMMENDATIONS IF THE UNIT DOESN'T WORK PROPERLY
-Check all connections, cables and leads.
-Check the setting of the amplifier. Is it set to the correct input channel ??
-Is the mains outlet powered and the unit switched on?
-Is the CD inserted in the correct way?
