Enjoy Fornello's versatility and let your imagination take its course when preparing your favourite dishes. Prior to switching the appliance on, please read the following items of information attentively and observe them. Please also keep them for any future users.

Thank you very much.

Important notes

The reflector covers are made of superior stainless steel, which naturally takes on a slightly yellowish colour when heat is exerted. This has not any effect on the operation of the appliance and is no reason for a complaint either.

The reflector covers can be detached and, if needed, cleaned with a cleansing agent for stainless steel.

For your safety

  • Make sure the mains voltage is identical with the details indicated on the rating label. Only connect unit to an AC outlet.
  • Put the appliance on a heat-resistant, stable and even working surface and do not operate it in the proximity of other heat sources (electric cooker, open gas flame etc.).
  • For the protection against danger of fire, the space over the appliance has to be kept free and the distance between the appliance and any wall has to be at least 50 cm.
  • Both reflector covers and baking plate will become extremely hot during use. Absolutely avoid touching those parts directly when hot. Danger of getting burned!
  • Transport and clean the appliance only when it has cooled completely. Only use original accessory parts.
  • During operation, the power cord - as well as those of other neighbouring electrical appliances - must not touch any hot parts of the appliance.
  • Children are not aware of the dangers which might arise when handling electrical appliances. For this reason never let children use electrical appliances without supervision.
  • Always use the appliance under supervision. Improper use will lead to loss of right to claim under guarantee.
  • Do not use the appliance as a space heater. The safest way to switch the appliance off is to pull out the mains plug.
  • Do not overfill the pans with liquids in order to prevent any fillings from infiltrating the casing's interior through the air opening.
  • Our electrical appliances comply with the relevant safety regulations. Repairs may only be carried out by authorised specialist shops. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user!

Initial use

For a start, please clean the baking plate, the pans and the small shovels in warm water with a little amount of dishwashing detergent.

Prior to initial operation, the heating elements' protective layer has to be burned in.

In order to do so, please heat up the appliance at maximum power for about 15 minutes.

Please do not be bothered by the harmless smokes and smells that will be generated for a short while.

And this is how to operate the appliance

  1. Pre-heat the appliance at maximum power for about 15 minutes.
  2. Spread some cooking oil on the baking plate and/or in the pans and rub it/ them dry with kitchen paper. Caution! If too much fat is spread on the baking plate and/or in the pans, the fat might splash.
  3. The pans can be put on the upper level, i.e. on the heating element (with open reflector covers), as well as on the lower level, i.e. on the raclette surface (do not put them on the coated baking plate).
  4. Depending on the kind of food the pans are filled with, the temperature can be infinitely adjusted (1). The pilot lamp (2) shows the heating-up circles and goes out once the desired temperature has been reached.
  5. In the practical storage area for the pans (parking surface) (5) you can "park" the pans in the unheated area if you take a little break from eating.

  6. With the small shovels the food cooked on the baking plate and in the pans can be moved, taken out or the cheese be pushed out of the raclette pans. You can also use other utensils made of wood or plastic. However make sure that those are not in contact with hot areas for a longer period of time. Under no circumstances must you use any cooking utensils made of metal as the non-stick coating might be damaged otherwise.

For raclette, toasting, gratinating

Place the filled pans on the raclette surface (4) while the reflector covers are closed (3) (do not place them on the coated baking plate). Ideal for preparing raclette, toasts and for gratinating.

Baking, roasting, cooking

While the reflector covers are closed (3), insert the baking plate in the raclette level (4). Depending on your own taste, put baguette, fish, vegetables etc. on the baking plate.

Grilling

Open the reflector covers (3) for grilling and place the filled pans right on the heating plate. Make sure the pans rest on the heating element properly, the heating element has to be resting between the two ribs at the underside of the pans. Never leave the empty pans greased or with food residues on the glowing heating element but store them on the parking surface.

Cleaning and maintenance

Unplug the appliance and let it cool before cleaning! Then clean reflector covers, baking plate, pans and small shovels in lukewarm water with a little amount of dishwashing detergent. Residues on the stainless steel surfaces can be removed with a special cleansing agent for stainless steel. Under no circumstances must you use any scouring agents or solvents, no pointed objects and no oven sprays.

Never immerse the appliance in water!

We wish you a lot of fun with your Fornello!
