IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
General
- Read this manual before first use thoroughly. It contains important information for your safety as well as for the use and maintenance of the equipment. Keep these instructions for future reference and pass it on with the device.
• Pay particular attention to the warnings on the device and in this instruction manual.
• Use the device only for its intended purpose. Improper use may lead to hazards. - This device is not suitable for commercial use. It is designed for household and other similar uses only such as:
- in employee kitchens, in shops, offices and other business areas:
- for hotel guests, motels and other residential facilities:
- in bed and breakfast establishments:
- in farmhouses.
• In the event of improper use or wrong operation, we do not accept any liability for resulting damages.
- The use of accessories and components not expressly recommended by the manufacturer may result in injuries or damages and voids the warranty.
- This device is not intended to be used by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental abilities or lack of experience and / or lack of knowledge unless they are supervised by a person responsible for their safety or have received instructions on how to use the device.
• Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the device.
• Never leave the device unsupervised while it is switched on.
• Do not place heavy objects on top of the device.
- Never immerse electrical parts of the device in water during cleaning or operation. Never hold the device under running water.
- Do not under any circumstances attempt to repair the device yourself. For servicing and repairs, please consult an authorised dealer or qualified customer service centre.
Power supply
• The mains voltage must match the information on the rating label of the device.
- The power plug is used as the disconnect device. Please be sure that the power plug is in operable condition.
• Only removing the power plug can separate the device completely from the mains supply.
- Avoid damages to the power cord that may be caused by kinks or contact with sharp corners.
• Make sure, the device, including power cord and power plug are not exposed to hot surfaces.
• Only unplug from the power outlet by the plug itself. Do not pull on the cord.
- Disconnect the power plug when the device is not in use, in case of malfunctions, prior to attaching or removing accessories and prior to each cleaning.
- If the power cord or the casing of the device is damaged or if the device is dropped, the device may not be used before it is examined by a professional electrician.
- A damaged power cord may only be replaced by the manufacturer or a workshop commissioned by the manufacturer or by a similarly qualified person in order to avoid hazards.
Installation location
- Place the device on a flat, sturdy and slip-resistant surface.
- Keep a minimum free distance of 15 cm around the device.
• Use this device in dry indoor areas only and never outdoors. - Warning! Do not use this device near water or heavy moisture; e.g. in a damp basement or beside a swimming pool or bathtub.
- In order to reduce the risk of fire and electric shock, do not expose the device to fire (fireplace, grill, candles, cigarettes and so on) or water (water drops, water splashes, vases, tubs, ponds and so on).
- Keep this device away from all heat sources like for example, ovens, hot plates and other heat-producing devices/objects.
- Protect this device from extreme heat (over 35^ C) and cold (under 5^ C) as well as from direct sunlight and dust.
Specific safety instructions
- Danger of burns! The warming plate and the housing of the device become very hot during operation. Hold the carafe by the handle only.
- Do not move or transport this device during operation or when there is hot water in the carafe. There is a danger of burns from water which may spurt out.
- Never set the carafe on a hot stove, heating plate or other source of heat. Do not put the empty carafe on the hot warming plate of the coffee machine in order to prevent damages.
- Never use the carafe if it is damaged. Always handle the carafe carefully.
• The carafe is designed exclusively for use with this coffee maker. - Do not use the carafe any longer if the handle becomes loose or has lost its stability.
- This device may only be used if all original parts such as the carafe, filter insert and permanent filter are undamaged and used together. Do not try to replace one part with another. If you need to replace a part, contact your customer service.
• Make sure that you do not overfill the water container. - Do not operate this device if there is no water in the water container.
- For your own safety, use fresh drinking water only. Fill cold water only into the tank. Only fill with water if the plug has been pulled.
- Parts of the device become very hot. Unplug the power cord and allow the device to cool sufficiently before inserting or removing accessories, and before cleaning or storing.
- Clean the device and other accessories after each use. Refer to the Chapter CLEANING AND CARE.

Intended use
- This device is suitable for the preparation of coffee only. Any other use can lead to damages to the device or personal injury.
Unpacking and checking
- Carefully take the device and its accessories out of the packaging. Retain the packaging in case you would like to store the device away or transport it at a later date. If you choose to dispose of the packaging, then please do so according to the applicable legal regulations.
- Check the packaging contents for completeness and damages. Should the contents in the packaging not be complete or be damaged, do not use the device. Return it to your retail outlet immediately.
Preparation
- Conduct a cleaning of the device before preparing coffee for the first time. Also clean this device if it will not be used for a longer period of time and after each decalcification treatment.
- Open the lid of the water container (2) and fill it with fresh water to the max marking on the water level indicator (3). Insert the filter insert (10) and the permanent filter (11) correctly and put the carafe (7) on the warming plate (6). Do not put in any coffee powder.
- Connect the plug (4) to a suitable power outlet. Put the On / Off switch I/O (5) to position I. The operation indicator lights up. The brewing procedure begins within a few seconds.
- Let all of the water run through for cleaning. Put the On / Off switch I/O to position 0 and pull the plug from the power outlet. Let the device cool off for approximately 5 minutes before restarting brewing procedure. Repeat this procedure two or three times. Pour the water out after each brewing procedure.
Preparing coffee
- Open the lid of the water container (2) and fill it with the desired amount of fresh drinking water. You can prepare up to 12 cups of coffee (125 ml each).
- Do not fill the water container beyond the max marking, in order to prevent the water container or carafe (7) from overfilling.
- Insert the filter insert (10) correctly into the filer holder (9) and press it down gently. If the filter insert is not correctly inserted, water can overflow.
- Insert the permanent filter (11) into the filter insert.
- Put the desired amount of coffee powder into the permanent filter and close the lid (1). Attention! Never open the lid during the brewing procedure.
• Put the carafe on the warming plate (6). - Start brewing procedure: Connect the plug (4) to a suitable plug. Put the On / Off switch I/O (5) to position I. The operation indicator lights up.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS
- Once the water has completely run through the filter, the carafe (7) can be removed from the device.
- The brewed coffee can remain warm by placing the carafe (7) on the warming plate (6). Keeping the coffee warm for more than one hour is not recommended. The coffee becomes increasingly bitter even after 10-15 minutes.
- Always switch the device off after use. Put the On / Off switch I/O (5) to position 0 and pull the plug (4) from the power outlet.
Notes:
- This device is equipped with a drip-protection system. This prevents coffee from dripping on the warming plate if you remove the carafe briefly during the brewing procedure (maximum of 30 seconds).
• Let the device cool off for approximately 5 minutes before starting brewing procedure again. - Be very carefully when pouring coffee, in order to prevent spilling hot coffee.
- Touch the carafe by the handle only.
Tips
• Use only fresh drinking water for coffee preparation.
- Dispose of the coffee grounds after each brewing procedure. Do not use the same coffee grounds for a renewed brewing procedure because the flavour will not be retained.
• Store the coffee powder in a cool, dry area which is protected from light.
• Always keep the coffee in its original package. Close an opened package and put it in a container or a tin.
- The tin or container in which the coffee is stored should be hermetically closed. This way, the flavour is retained longer.
• You can also keep the container with the coffee powder in the refrigerator.
• Always keep this device clean and clean it according to use (see CLEANING AND CARE).
Cleaning and care
- Prior to cleaning, pull the power plug (4) out of the power outlet. Wait until the device has completely cooled off.
- Clean the exterior surfaces of the housing with a slightly damp cloth.
- Never immerse electrical parts of the device in water during cleaning or operation. Never hold the device under running water.
- Never use solvents and abrasives, hard brushes, metallic or sharp objects for cleaning. Solvents are harmful to health and attack the plastic parts. Abrasive cleaners and tools do scratch the surface.
• Empty the permanent filter (11) immediately after each use and rinse under running water. - Clean the carafe (7) and the filter insert (10) after use with warm water and some dishwashing liquid. Then dry it up.
- Clean the warming plate (6) regularly with a slightly damp cloth.
Decalcification
• Decalcify your device at regular intervals according to amount of limescale and frequency of use.
- A commercial coffee machine descaler can be used. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
- Put in fresh water and the specified amount of descaler into the water container (2).
- Start the brewing procedure and let the water run through completely. Empty the carafe (7). Repeat the procedure as necessary.
- Rinse out the device after decalcifying by conducting several brewing procedures in order to remove descaler residues.
- Rinse the carafe with warm water after decalcifying.

The warranty term is 3 years as of the date of purchase.
It is within HOME ELECTRIC's discretion to fulfil the warranty by repair or replacement of the device or defect component. Other claims are excluded. In case of questions regarding HOME ELECTRIC products you no longer need to take the time to go to the seller but may call our service hotline or service center directly. A team of highly qualified product consultants and technicians is available from Monday through Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Our service partner requires proof of purchase, either as original receipt or cash receipt printed by the seller to perform warranty repairs. The serial number on the device must also be readable. We are unable to perform warranty services free of charge without proof of purchase. We recommend keeping the original packaging in order to ensure safe transport of the device in case of a warranty claim.
Warranty repairs may be performed exclusively by E2 Servicecenter GmbH or contractual partners authorised by it. Repairs performed by the customer or other shops void the warranty; a claim for cost reimbursement does not exist. The warranty is void or does not cover:

⇒ in case of mechanical damages to the device from outside forces
⇒ in case of transportation damages
⇒ for wear parts
⇒ in case of operating errors and misuse
⇒ when placing the device in wet rooms or outdoors
in case of damages resulting from force, war, water, lightning, excess voltage, and other reasons not within the scope of HOME ELECTRIC's responsibility.

The warranty does not include any subsequent liability on our part, in particular no liability for damages to the device itself or incurred by the loss of the device until the time of repair (e.g. travel costs, handling costs, etc.). However, this does not limit or exclude our statutory warranty, in particular pursuant to the Product Liability Act.
Any warranty services provided by us do not extend the warranty term of 3 years as of the date of purchase, also not in terms of possibly exchanged components.
