Bedienungsanleitung

The advantages of an original Schott Ceran ^® cooking hob combined with a stainless steel casing featuring a unique design – you have chosen a very special cooking plate, congratulations! Your new appliance is a German top-class quality product meeting the latest technological standards. To make sure you can enjoy using this appliance for a long time, please read the following notes carefully and observe them. Thank you very much.

Important safeguards

• Before use, please read these instructions carefully and keep them for future reference. Only use the appliance for the application as prescribed herein, improper application will lead to loss of warranty.
• Make sure the details on the rating label are in conformity with your mains voltage. Only connect unit to alternating current.
• Only use electrical pots or pans with a perfect, even bottom and an appropriate diameter (fire-proof glass or crockery can be used, too). If the pot bottom is uneven or too small, energy will be wasted. The ceramic hob and the pot bottom must always be clean and dry.
• Do not use any cooking vessels made of synthetics, inferior enamel, china or aluminium foil. In case any plastic objects, aluminium foil, sugar or dishes containing sugar etc. accidentally happen to melt on the ceramic hob, immediately shove them away from the hot heating zone with a cleaning scraper. Never use oven sprays or stain-removers for cleaning! Special cleaning agents for the glass plate are available on the market.
• Avoid scratches on the glass plate caused by pointed or sharp objects. Protect the glass plate against breakage by falling objects.
• Any damages resulting from a non-observance of these notes will not be covered by warranty.
• Place the unit on a heat-resistant, stable and even working surface. Never operate it near other heat sources (stove, open gas flame etc.). The space above the appliance must be free, the wall distance must be at least 10 cm on all sides. Unhindered air circulation has to be ensured.

And this is how to use your cooking plate

By turning the rotary knob, the energy regulator, which provides between 7 % and 100 % of the output, is activated. The temperature is infinitely variable this way according to requirements. As for the double cooking plate CT 3400/E, the rotary knobs allow for retraction into the casing by simply pressing them once and may be let out again the same way. This retraction mechanism can be operated at each knob position. The knobs are splash-protected as a result and you avoid unintentional re-setting of the temperature. At the same time little children are prevented from switching on or re-setting the appliance.

The cooking plate is equipped with an automatic cooking system, i.e. it heats up with maximum power at each setting and then maintains the temperature by adjusting the power supply accordingly.

The model CT 2200/E and the double cooking plate CT 3400/E are equipped with a two-circuit heating zone. To activate the large 210 mm ∅ heating zone, turn the rotary knob as far as it will

go to the Ⓞ symbol and then back to the requested setting. For changing back to the small 140 mm ∅ heating zone, turn the rotary knob to 'OFF' position and then back to the setting 1 - 12 as required.

Use the following settings

1 ... 5 to keep warm and to warm up
4 ... 9 to steam, stew, cook
8 ... 12 to start cooking, to broil, to roast

On the ceramic hob, you can see a pilot lamp (POWER symbol) indicating whether the appliance is switched on.

The residual heat indicator (HEAT symbol) warns you of a cooking zone still being hot, but on the other hand also makes you aware of the possibility to make use of the remaining residual heat. Caution: If you pull the mains plug after use of the cooking plate, this symbol will go out as well independent of the residual heat still remaining!

For your safety

• During use, surfaces will get hot. Mind the risk of getting burned when touching the appliance! Keep the power cord away from the hot cooking surface, as well as the power cords of other adjacent electrical appliances.
• Do not operate the appliance without supervision. The safest manner to switch off the unit is to pull the mains plug.
• Children and persons with handicaps of physical, sensorial or mental nature must not operate this appliance without an adequate supervision and/or corresponding expert advice and safety instructions.
• Children should be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with this appliance.
• Do not at all operate this unit with an external timer or a separate telecontrol system.
  • Overheated fat or oil may ignite. This is why food containing fat or oil must be prepared under supervision only.
• If cracks, fissures or breakage is caused and if it may be assumed that safe operation is no longer possible, immediately turn off and unplug the appliance from the outlet in order to avoid the hazard of electric shock.
• Do not place any objects on top of the appliance, do not use it as a worktop and do not move it when hot. Do not use it as a space heater.
• Never immerse the appliance into water for cleaning. Please also make sure that no water or steam can infiltrate the underside.
• This electric appliance complies with the relevant safety regulations. In case of signs of damage to the appliance, the power cord or the sealing, or if the glass plate is broken, immediately unplug the appliance. Repairs may be effected by authorised specialist shops only. Improper repairs may result in considerable dangers for the user!

Cleaning and maintenance

Switch off the appliance and unplug it. Then remove any coarse residues with a special glass scraper, which is available in the specialised trade and in household equipment shops.

Following that clean the cold Ceran ^® surface with some dishwater and wipe it dry with a clean cloth or kitchen tissue. If food residues have burnt into the grill surface, soak them by dripping some dishwater onto the glass plate.

If stubborn residues are still left on the cold surface after that cleaning procedure, you can remove them using an appropriate cleanser for Ceran® cooking surfaces. For this end rub the entire grill surface with some drops of the cleaning agent using a kitchen tissue until no residues are visible anymore.

Never immerse the appliance into water and use no steam jet appliances. Make sure no water or steam may infiltrate the appliance from below either. Never use abrasives, steel wool or sharp, scratchy objects.
