Frequently Asked Questions - H-HOB 300 HI642MC HOOVER

What type of cookware can I use on this induction hob?
You must use cookware with a magnetic base, such as cast iron or stainless steel with a magnetic bottom. Check with a magnet test. Minimum pan diameter for each zone is listed (e.g., 120 mm for 160 mm zone). Avoid pans with jagged edges or curved bases.
How do I activate the Boost function?
Select the cooking zone, then touch the Boost control. The power level will display 'P'. Boost lasts 5 minutes, then returns to level 9. To cancel, touch the slider to a lower level.
What does the 'H' indicator mean?
The 'H' indicates the cooking zone is hot (residual heat). Do not touch until it disappears. It also serves as an energy-saving reminder to use the hot zone for warming.
How do I lock the controls?
Touch the keylock control (padlock icon). The timer display shows 'Lo'. To unlock, touch and hold the keylock for 3 seconds. The ON/OFF control still works in emergency.
Why does my hob make a humming noise on high heat?
This is normal for induction technology due to electromagnetic vibrations. The noise may decrease at lower settings. A cooling fan may also run after use and is normal.
How do I clean sticky spills or sugar on the glass?
Switch off the hob. Use a razor blade scraper at a 45° angle to remove spills while the glass is warm (but not hot). Then clean with ceramic hob cleaner and a soft cloth. Never use abrasive sponges.
Can I use a timer to turn off a specific zone?
Yes. Select the zone, then use the + and - timer controls to set minutes (up to 99). The zone will switch off automatically when time expires. A red dot indicates the zone is selected.
What should I do if an error code appears (E2, E3, E4, etc.)?
Error codes indicate faults: E4/E5 (temperature sensor), E7/E8 (IGBT sensor), E2/E3 (abnormal voltage), E6/E9 (overheating). Try restarting after cooling. If persists, contact a qualified technician. Do not disassemble.
How do I set the power management to limit total consumption?
Touch the + (timer) and Pause simultaneously. The display shows 'P5' (default). Use +/- to select levels P1 (2.5 kW) to P5 (7.2 kW). Confirm by pressing timer+ and Pause again; hob turns off.
What are the minimum clearance requirements for installation?
A minimum of 50 mm clearance around the cutout, worktop thickness at least 30 mm, and a safety distance of at least 760 mm between the hob and any cupboard above. Ensure proper ventilation.

Cooking Guidelines

Take care when frying as the oil and fat heat up very quickly, particularly if using Boost. At extremely high temperatures oil and fat will ignite spontaneous and this presents a serious fire risk.

Cooking Tips

  • When food comes to the boil, reduce the power setting.
    • Using a lid will reduce cooking times and save energy by retaining the heat.
  • Minimise the amount of liquid or fat to reduce cooking times.
  • Start cooking on a high setting and reduce the setting when the food has hea through.

Simmering, cooking rice

  • Simmering occurs below boiling point, at around 85^ C, when bubbles are just in occasionally to the surface of the cooking liquid. It is the key to delicious so tender stews because the flavour develop without overcooking the food. You should also cook egg-based and flour-thickened sauces below boiling point.
  • Some tasks, including cooking rice by the absorption method, may require a higher than the lowest setting to ensure the food is cooked properly in the ti recommended.

Searing steak

To cook juicy flavoursome steaks:

  1. Stand the meat at room temperature for about 20 minutes before cooking.
  2. Heat up a heavy-based frying pan.
  3. Brush both sides of the steak with oil. Drizzle a small amount of oil into the and then lower the meat onto the hot pan.
  4. Turn the steak only once during cooking. The exact cooking time will depend thickness of the steak and how cooked you want it. Times may vary from ab

minutes per side. Press the steak to gauge how cooked it is – the firmer it more ‘well done’ it will be.

  1. Leave the steak to rest on a warm plate for a few minutes to allow it to become tender before serving.

For stir-frying

  1. Choose a ceramic compatible flat-based wok or a large frying pan.
  2. Have all the ingredients and equipment ready. Stir-frying should be quick. If a large quantities, cook the food in several smaller batches.
  3. Preheat the pan briefly and add two tablespoons of oil.
  4. Cook any meat first, put it aside and keep warm.
  5. Stir-fry the vegetables. When they are hot but still crisp, turn the cooking zo lower setting, return the meat to the pan and add your sauce.
  6. Stir the ingredients gently to make sure they are heated through.
  7. Serve immediately.

Care and Cleaning

What?How?Important!
Everyday soiling on glass (fingerprints, marks, stains left by food or non-sugary spillovers on the glass)Switch the power to the cooktopApply a cooktop cleaner while t glass is still warm (but not hot Rinse and wipe dry with a clea cloth or paper towel.Switch the power to the cooktop back on.When the power to the cooktop switched off, there will be no ‘h surface’ indication but the cooking zone may still be hot! Take extr care.Heavy-duty scourers, some nylon scourers and harsh/abrasive cleaning agents may scratch the glass. Alw read the label to check if your or scourer is suitable.Never leave cleaning residue on cooktop: the glass may become stained.
Boil-overs, melts, and hot sugary spills on the glassRemove these immediately with a f slice, palette knife or razor blade scraper suitable for ceramic glass cooktops, but beware of hot cooking zone surfaces:Switch the power to the cooktop at the wall.Hold the blade or utensil at a angle and scrape the soiling or to a cool area of the cooktop.Clean the soiling or spill up wi dish cloth or paper towel.Follow steps 2 to 4 for ‘Everyo soiling on glass’ above.Remove stains left by melts and sugary food or spillovers as soon as possible. If left to cool on th glass, they may be difficult to remove or even permanently damage the glass surface.Cut hazard: when the safety cove is retracted, the blade in a scrape is razor-sharp. Use with extreme care and always store safely and out of reach of children.
Spillovers on the touch controlsSwitch the power to the cooktopSoak up the spillWipe the touch control area wit clean damp sponge or cloth.Wipe the area completely dry with a paper towel.Switch the power to the cooktop back on.The cooktop may beep and turn itself off, and the touch controls may not function while there is liquid on them.
